My Best Trip Ever! A Disney Trip 10 Years in the Making - Page 29 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love your trip report! I am sorry to hear about the problem though. I agree that you needed to say something to Bryson my mom raised me, as long as you dont hit the child, you can discipline them if they are doing something wrong. It takes a village.
Wow, what an episode with the Kim Possible adventure! I think you were perfectly right to speak firmly to Bryson. At this point, I'm sure you were GLAD the trip was almost over.

It sounds like you had a great morning at Magic Kingdom...I'm sorry Epcot was too crowded, and that Christine's kids got on your nerves a bit. I think you were perfectly within your rights with Bryson...I would have done the same thing. There comes a point where it doesn't matter whose child it is - the adult needs to step in and say something.

You were definitely within your rights as his guardian during that moment to correct him. Actually, I think you were well with your rights to say something even if his mother was standing right there. Seems to me from what you've said about Christine, she wouldn't have corrected him anyway, so may as well come from you anyway. About time he was told that his behaviour is not acceptable.
I agree completely with Jessie and Melissa! You were perfectly within reason to say something. Especially since his mother was not there, and you have the right not to be disrespected and say something if you are, whether it's a child or even an adult.
Sorry it was just a hard time. Hopefully you got to chill out and relax some at the resort.

I agree but really didn't want to start something with Chris. I really had had it by then.

Not glad but I didn't miss G or B. I'd like to try KP (or agent P) again but just with me and Ev.

me too. It was one of those things you thought would be a good idea but just didn't turn out that way.

MK was great but Epcot just too much for me. It wasn't fun and vacation is supposed to be fun.

We did chill out and relax and I know I won't be going on vacation again with Chris and her boys.
“Our final night and checking off one more thing from the to do list”
I can’t remember what we did for dinner but pretty sure it was at the hotel.
After dinner I wanted to go over to the Poly to see the Water Pageant and what Wishes from the beach. Mom and Jill and family joined in. Chris and boys did not.
This was something I had never done before, watching Wishes from the Poly and I was looking forward to it. We found a spot on the beach, near the main pool and grabbed a few lounge chairs. They were about to begin the movie on the beach as well.
I let Evan take his shoes off and he ran around bare foot in the sand for awhile. This caused a problem because Eric wanted to take his shoes off and his father wouldn’t let him. Don’t ask me why other than sometimes Steve likes to issue orders just to prove to myself he is still the man. I don’t know. I don’t know what the big deal was but Eric isn’t my child so I stayed out of it.
The movie was Tangled so we watched some of that. When the electric pageant began I turned to watch it and discovered it was sideways. You could see it somewhat but I realized it was actually set up for the folks over at the GF and not the Poly but we could see some of it.
A little bit later I could see the barges moving and getting into place for the water pageant in front of the Poly. The pageant started and then Wishes began – both were going on at the same time. It was weird and I couldn’t hear the music. It wasn’t coming over the speakers. Then I saw that the barges for the water pageant were not directly in front of us. I knew we were in the wrong spot. We were at the beach in front of the pool and there was another beach that had a better view and the music piped in. Oh well, couldn’t move now. We watched the fireworks sans music and when Wishes was done the movie resumed.
Because I had done most of my packing I was willing to hang out for a little while but everyone else headed back to the hotel. Evan still had a game card for the arcade so I told him he could play a few games.
After the arcade we poked around the Poly gift shops. Evan wanted to buy a gift for his girlfriend, Miss Ashley, the teen helper in his class. He decided on a postcard and he would draw her a picture and give it to her at school instead of mailing it home. I also bought him a small cup. That was the best purchase. He uses it all the time and reminds me of the trip each time I see it.
Finally it was time to leave. It was a nice night and Evan and I walked back to the hotel together. It is always sad. Vacation is over. I did enjoy these walks we had all week from the Poly to Shades. It was just so nice to be with Evan and know he had a great time and was looking forward to our next trip to The World. Yes, we have another Disney fan.
Back in the hotel room Mom calls everyone together and makes a little speech thanking me for all the work I had put into the trip and blah, blah, blah. And then gives me a Disney charm bracelet to say thank you. Megan, Jill and Mom had picked out all the charms and told me the reason behind each one. It was very sweet and nice and unexpected. I didn’t have the heart to tell them I can’t stand charm bracelets and I won’t ever wear them. They are too noisy and bulky. I work on computers and I type all day and bangle/dangly bracelets are just not my thing.
After the gift giving I needed to drop off the stroller. Some of you may remember I had worked out a deal with Orlando Stroller Rentals and they were purchasing my stroller. I had to take it down to bell hop area so they could store it for me. I left Mom to get Evan settled but when he found out I was getting rid of the stroller he started to cry and got very upset. Mom told me to leave and when I came back he was asleep. She told me she had told him he was such a big boy he didn’t need it anymore and we were giving it to “the babies” who didn’t have any. I guess that worked as he hasn’t mentioned anything since then. BTW, everything that we get rid in our house goes to “the babies”. Clothes, toys, blankets, all that stuff, Evan is very good about giving away his baby stuff to “the babies”.
Finally it was bed time. We had a really early flight at 9am which meant we had to leave by 6am which meant I needed to be up around 5am.
It was not long before I was in slumberland dreaming of the wonderful vacation we had just experienced.
Coming Up Next
“Leaving the world – our journey home”
VERY nice of your family to give you the charm bracelet (even if they're not the most observant bunch if you never wear that type of jewelry)! At least there was an acknowlegement of all the work you did. And hooray for Evan being a Disney fan, not that there was much doubt of that. I hope you have many happy times just the two of you enjoying MK in your future!
