We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 29 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I guess I'm just rooting for Shutterfly since I love them so much. I'm sorry you have had such bad experience with them - seems mainly because of UPS though. Boo UPS!!
Congrats to your Blackhawks - even though it's another Chicago team.
I'm not a hockey fan, but I'm glad your team won! It's always a nice feeling. Now when football season gets started, I'm all about the trash talking!
Thank you Melissa. The trash talk with sports I mainly keep to friends and family, but Erick got mad yesterday when I told him when I returned from
getting our dinner, and a stop at the Grocery Store next door to he Sports
Pub (which was packed with Blackhawks fans) seeing a guy in the Parking Lot in a Flyers jersey and I shout Blackhawks through the parking lot. There was another funny part to last night in our house Erick wasn't sure to either scream or laugh since Skyler as a broken record kept saying. "hi mama" "hi mama" and I'm saying at the same time "I need those lucky mice, I need those lucky mice"(referring to Mickey & Minnie which Skyler wanted to wrestle
with on his bed). I will be thanking those two lucky mice when I see them in WDW. Oh yeah and I had the same feeling go through me as Skyler, he went and jumped on his bed and I was so happy I wantednto do the same(but I would have broken his bed or ours).

Kelly, not a problem with you being a Shutterfly fan, and thank you for all of your help. I just wished UPS by us improved their service when it came to delivering to our area and not making me be a Grizzly Bear, and Shutterfly giving a preferance for shipping method. I do honestly love the one from Snapfish better as I did want full image of the Autograph Pages to give each character more spaace to sign their picture and if they write big like I tend to do, they have the room.
Thanks, It still hasn't sunk in about Chicago winning the Stanley Cup yet, and every replay I still start to cry. I'm sorry I can't help being born and raised a Chicago Sports Fan, and my parents and family being from there. There are very few home teams I root for in the actual states I've physically lived in. At least your Cardinals have won a World Series long before their arch rivals the Cubs have!
If I haven't mentioned this already we got the flights I wanted. We leave Washington Dulles Friday, 9/24 at around 3:15pm and arriveto Fort Lauderdale, FL at around 5:45pm(non-stopflight on Jet Blue). This flight works perfectly as Erick is working both jobs that Friday, and I can bring him to work and pick him up around 12:15-12:30 at work to bring us to the airport which is literally a 5 minute drive throughthe back way of the airport during his lunch break and head right back to work. This shall also work perfectly for my mom too as it arrives early enough but gives her time to get from work to come and pick us up(and if she's running late, not a big deal as I don't mind waiting for her. It also gives us time to have dinner together after we arrive and 2 full days by mom.
Our return flight leaves MCO at 7:10 pm(on U.S. Air), so Ithink Skyler and I are going to spend our last day in MK until we need to be back at the resort possibly for a 3pm departure. We do have an 1 hr 45 minute layover in Charlotte, NC, but that airport is easy to change planes in, even with Skyler (much easier than Atlanta, and I refuse to change planes in Atlanta, no offense to those who live in Atlanta, but after my hundreds of missed flights there, running from terminal to terminal with heavy bags and high heels, it won't happen). We won't arrive home until around 11:55pm on Thurs., 9/30, but since Erick works that night, he can shoot right from work to the airport to pick us up (worst case scenario DMil or DFil since we do have an extra car seat or Skyler). At least our flights are planned perfectly around Erick's work schedule!
I have decided our last breakfast has to be at MK Bakery for Skyler & I. I did
also make us a lunch ADR for 12:15 pm 9/30 (our departure day) at The Plaza Restaurant. The food looks amazing there and it will be a nice lunch for our final day. Erick knows these 2 meals will be OOP, but with Free Dining and us only payin for Mom's TS meals while she joins us, Erick had no complaints about this. Now I do need to knock off a payment from our balance due for Disney and call and arrange our DME for our departure day.
I feel so much more relieved having our flights booked and really the prices were great for both one way tickets on Expedia (I checked my mom's site first, but Expedia had exactly what I was lookig for at prices that weren't too high either).

Sounds like your plans are coming together well.
Gotta add, another happy Blackhawks fan here! I was thrilled beyond words!!!
If our beloved Cubbies would get it together, all would be right in the world. That stupid curse!!!
Can't wait to hear all about your trip. I know you and Skyler will have a great time!!!

Thank you so much for joining in Stephanie!I am so sorry I am behind on my picture posting as I do need to post thr one from our PPer Meet last Nov.(oopsies, I'm so sorry I am behind on that). It's so nice o know you're a Blackhawks & Cubs Fan too! I'm still in shock that they won The Stanley Cup. For it being somber here over because the loss of the dog, Chicago winning the Stanley Cup just completely brought a smile to my face and happy tears
for once during any sporting event. The Cubs certainly need to do some magic and win a World Series (I know the White Sox won it in 2005, but I would love to see those Cubs Break their curse). At least they aren't too many games behind in thee Wild Card Race.
Thank you, this trip keeps coming along and I can't wait to be there and
share our trip with everyone on PPer! Actually I probably need to start getting things ready to go in a few weeks as Erick just dropped a smal bomb on me when he came home from work a little bit ago (now passed out since he pretty much almost worked 24 hours straight, but with very little time
off). I will have an update soon though!
I know Erick is exhausted today so Skyler & I are trying to stay out of his hair, and I am about to take Skyler out for a little bit before Meet the Robinsons comes on(need my Disney fix and we both love that movie). Erick worked pretty much from 3 pm yesterday til 4 am today and went back to work from 6 am(or a store meeting) until 2 with his mom, so he's passed out in bed right now. Erick broke the news that his dad won't be able to take Skylerwith his mom to Dinosaur Land in a couple weeks and asked if I wanted to go along. DMil Laurie and I get along great and so it shall be fun. Of course I thougt t is a theme park with rides, but more like ginormous Dinosaurs! Cool. For anyone interested, this is where we are going:Welcome to Dinosaur Land, located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley!. I think this will be a great indicator foe me to see how Skyler will handle the Dinosaurs in AK. It's an hour drive awway from us, although Erick thinks we're going away for the whole weekend. It is going to e fun, hopefully Skyler will love!
Erick is also about to send me on a Walmart run for the second time today (the first being after Erick got home from work for breakfast). Something actually caught my eye in the bakery section (ours is 24 hour) as they have a huge seleection of Disney Cakes and Cupcake Cakes. Walmart even offers a Handy Manny one too which I am about to go price out for Skyler's Birthday (an it's shaped like Pat, Manny's Hamer). I didn't see the beach Surfer Mickey & Minnie one, but they had other ones that are cute and eye catching (I just thought I would mention that or anyone else doing Disney themed Parties, that they have a wonderful selection).
So while I am there or hit Target too, I will have to stock up on a few things for our weekend to Dinosaur Land, but I am glad I have Skyler's new Stroller, rain cover, our back packs, and other things for our trip to Disney that can come in handy foor Dinosaur Land. I should invest in a clip on fan for Skyler's stroller too as it gets. Sohot and humid here that it will not only help keep him cool for Disney, but whenwe're out and about with him at home too. I hope everyone is enjoying your weekeend.
I did find a new rolling duffle! When I was at Target tonight, I found a bright pink (Barbie Pink) 28" rolling duffle which will work perfectly too. Call me crazy, but ai love anything pink, and I love to be able to spot my bag when it comes off the carousel in luggage claim. Erick's big standard duffle shall fit perfectly inside there or one of our other carry on bags. I am not checking in a car seat for Skyler and brin one of ours, since my mom has a friend with a grandson Skyler's age and is either going to borrow her car seat or buy one down there for us. This will make things easier in the airport for me especially when otherwise when mom leaves, it will be sitting in our room.
I am going to try to start getting us packed (all except shorts and flip flops and bathingsuits, but all the other extras and our Disney Shirts to see how much room we have left in the suitcase and to see if I either need another suitcase(I'm still aiming for one suitcase) and trying to have very little left to pack right before we leave for Disney. I think I don't want all of my usual stress for my last minute packing (except for phone and chargers and anything else I need to wash to pack).
