As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving on with a spirit born to run

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Wow! Incredible meal! What always held me back from even thinking about trying Remy are the fish dishes. I am allergic to shellfish, and have had bad reactions to a few others. Plainly said, I do not eat fish...and neither does my husband. After reading this, I think I am understanding if you do not want the fish entree then you can swap that out for a second of the meat course...is that correct?
Indeed you can! Don't forget, this is Disney and one of the things that Disney does best is cater to anyone with allergies. I'm allergic to tree fruit (apple, pears, plums, peaches, cherries etc.) and they have been so good with me, it's been amazing. If you have any issues like that, I'd let them know, but you can pick what you want from the menu.
WOW!!! What a fantastic evening and meal!!! Not only does it sound delish - but it also sounds as though you were really able to just relax and enjoy it!!! Which that in itself makes that price all worth it!!!
I would have DIED for that cheese sampling!!!!!!!!!! YUMMY!!!!!!!!

Looks like you really enjoyed your meal...but I have to admit, I have now read several reviews of it, and al lrave about it, like you did, but I think it all looks not so good. (in nice words) I'm not into french upscale food, I guess, so it just does not appeal to me at all. I keep hoping one review wil lblow me away, but so far the food descriptions just don't appeal to me...I guess It will save us some money then!
It is an acquired taste and I can fully understand that, for some people, it's not their thing. However, if it is your thing, then do not miss!
Been away for a couple of days but all caught up now. Whoa, what a fabulous meal at Remy!!! I really want to book the cruise to the NE and Canada for next year but maybe the Dream or Fantasy could be in 2013???

I am not a foodie person, but WOW! You made Remy sounds so wonderful that I may just have to convince my fiancee to book a Disney cruise just for that meal! I am so glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! I am wondering, in all of your travels, have you had any other food experiences that compare to Remy?
I would say that Victoria and Albert's at WDW compares to it and we had a meal at the Bellagio (I want to say Le Cirque, but I'm not 100% sure on that...) that I would say was the same standard as well.
Now that dinner looks FANTASTIC! I recently had a similar dinning experience at Le Bec Fin in Philly and it was quite an experience. We too were too full at the end of the meal to have the cheese and dessert course, AND they did send us home with some chocolates. I think that price you paid is great too. Is that the flat price? Wow,
The drink they served you in the begining, was it a Campari drink? We had a fancy dinner and brunch in Cannes before and they both started us with a Campari drink.
I noticed you had that late evening spa tratment, is the spa opened later that that, or was that the last appt for the day? They would work great for us.

The flat price is $75 per person. The extra $27 was for two glasses of wine, then there was the tip on top of that.
I'm not sure if the drink was Campari or not - I don't remember now if they told us what it was or not..
I honestly don't know about the spa. I know that they offered me a couple of times for that treatment and that was the one that worked best for me. I'm guessing they must close around 10pm?
What an amazing meal, everything from the moment you walked in to the moment you left sounds just amazing, and the food....it looked delicious, and I agree that when you look at it, the meal is a really good value when you think of two adults and wine.
Remy is so on my list, for that matter so is a cruise on the Dream / Fantasy....
I should be getting commission from Disney on all these people that I'm persuading to take a cruise on the Dream or Fantasy...
Saturday 16 April – part one: you’re going to run in this heat?
We woke up just after 7.20am and could feel that we must be moving into Castaway Cay. I quickly got up and headed out to take some photos of our arrival. Unlike yesterday, I wasn’t alone. The ship was much busier this morning.
We quickly got up and got going and headed off to Cabanas for breakfast. There’s a very good choice up here, but it took us a while to find everything and we didn’t like all the drink supplies until we had already been up once and walked to the far end of the dining room. I was pretty surprised to see asparagus on the menu, so that was a nice treat for breakfast.
Once we were done, we headed back to the room, so that I could lather up on sunscreen. I remember only too well what happened the last time we were at Castaway Cay when I burnt wearing factor 50 suntan lotion and I was going to do my best to make sure that didn’t happen again.
All ready to go, we headed out and my goodness, already at 8.45am, it was warm outside. Leaving early was definitely a good plan. We got an official photo done by the Dream, although sadly it turned out to be no good. We got lots of photos of our own, as we walked along to the tram stop.
We seemed to sit there for ages, waiting for people and got chatting to the woman on there with us. The mad fool was going to run the Castaway Cay 5k. I cannot believe that this is now a regular thing out here. It was far too warm, for our liking, just to walk around, never mind running that far. Still, there was quite a big group assembled when we got to the start line. Rather them than me.
I'm a little confused about the pricing? I thought the $75 per person was the tip as these servers are not in the regular dinning rotation? You paid more tip money on top of the $150 ?
Haha--my DH did the 5k last time we were at CC. He also runs in snowstorms.
Looks like you're going to have a beautiful day at CC--hope you don't get burned!
