Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 28 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your house looks beautiful! I love all the warm tones -- it makes me just want to snuggle up on your couch!
Sorry that the trip started with lots of waiting -- poor Morgan! But I'm glad that things started to move along once you got into the park. She looks like she's having a blast, and I love the photos of the 3 of you in front of the castle.
I'll have to remember the Rose Garden for watching MM&Y. I know Wishes must have been difficult for you.
How amazingly sweet of your SWA pilots! I can't believe they were able to get that plan in motion so quickly. I think Stefanie probably helped spread some pixie dust for that one!
My first time at Wishes, I sat by the rose garden. Actually between the rose garden and the castle (that path that runs right next to the castle) but underneath Tink. It was awesome.
Also - how sweet of the SWA pilots/crew! And I loved Morgan's smile after Space Mountain!
Morgan looks like she is having a blast! We got the chance to watch MM&Y & Wishes from the same location near the Rose Garden one night on our last trip. It was definitely a great view. Watching Wishes for the first time without Stefanie had to have been bittersweet, but it sounds like you were able to handle it and still enjoy the moment. You are an inspiration, Cam! And how cool is that Mickey balloon? Wow
Gettin all caught up. Morgan looks like she is havin the time of her life, love all the pics. I to teared up when you talked about Wishes without Stefanie, she was there, just not in person. That Mickey balloon was way cool, very cool that SWA sent it to yall!

I am happy Morgan finally got to ride some rides! And also that you finally got a picture in front of the castle! Where exactly is the Rose Garden? I think I know, but not sure!
What a fun fantastic night at MK. Love at the double thumbs up from Morgan, it is great to see that she is having a wonderful time. How special to have two PP meets on the first night, it just makes the day even better. Glad you finally got you castle shot, you all look great! I can only imagine how you felt during Wishes but I am sure that Stefanie was singing right along with you. What a way to end a great day with a little magic from the SWA pilots.
So happy that Morgan finally got to ride some rides. I imagine that hug from Heather was much needed. I so love MM&Y, we were able to watch it right in the Castle Courtyard when we first saw and I was just in awe! Unfortunately wishes is out for us as my DS does not care for fireworks.
Now the Mickey Balloon, how cool was that. Amazing that the SWA crew took the time to find you and send you some MAGIC. (tears at reading that)
Registered Message Board Members save 30% off PassPorter guidebooks! When you register you'll have access to a discount coupon good for 30% off the list price of PassPorter books in our online store.
That first meal sounds like it was kinda terrible. But that surprise when you got back was SO cool!
And Morgan's happiness when she got off Space Mountain was actually kinda infectious! (Not that I'll ride SM ever again after my last ride where I got very much jostled around...)
We were glad that we went back to MK after dinner to meet up with You and Luke, also Meet Heather then. Had to get another Dole Whip while we were there. After we left you we both said we should of just rode BTMRR with you all
Did you tell the crew of the plane where you were staying? trying to figure out how they found you.
Was a great ballon they gave you guys

My goodness, Morgan is indeed one very happy little girl! I'm so glad you took her along... what a perfect way to dry the tears and save the magic. I am sure that Stefanie was right there with you watching Wishes... and experiencing every other Disney moment.
How thoughtful of those SWA pilots to send the balloons! Clearly Stefanie touched a few more hearts....
I love the double thumbs up! A happy Morgan! Great update! How cool that the pilots found you and gave you the balloons. How did they find out? Must have connections. Disney Magic!
I am so glad that you met up with friends and had such a good evening and were able to enjoy Wishes and many memories made with Stefanie. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been.
It was a difficult day, but not the most difficult. That will come later. Even with a difficult day we had much magic to enjoy.

We quickly discovered that she was going to be thrill seeker. It was so sweet of the pilots to think of us!

The Mickey balloon was totally unexpected and Wishes was wonderful, reminding me of how much Stefanie believed in wishes.

I have no idea how they found us, but I'm going with magic and pixie dust.

Very nice of SWA to send that that balloon!! They must have the same pixie dust as Disney!!
She was so happy once we got to the rides. I just hated that it took so long.

That was really a Magical Moment for the Pilot to send some Pixies for you all!!!!!! I think this was a Sign that it is Okay to have a Wonderful and Magical time.
I would like to make bags for my DGD and DGS to hand out to Pilots and Stewardess. I just have no idea what to put into them!!!!!! Maybe I can PM you when you have some time!!!
This would be a great Tradition for them to start!!!
I think it would be a wonderful tradition to begin with your DGD and DGS. Stefanie always chose some toys first. We have bought party favor packs, or small toys from Deals or Dollar Tree, or Wal-Mart's party aisle. Then she would chose some candies, usually Tootsie Rolls, Jolly Ranchers, and similar candies that won't melt. Finally we made little thank you cards. If you want the template for the cards, send me a PM with your e-mail so I can send you the Word document.

I love BTM at night. Last trip, we rode it 3 times in a row one evening and I distinctly remember how happy and relaxed I felt. It was one of those perfect Disney moments
I agree that BTMRR is the best at night, way more exciting.

She still talks about it today and she is 12. I think it's one of few actual memories she has from that trip.
I can't believe those pilots found you, that is super cool!
I forgot to mention in the TR that Morgan videotaped both MM&Y and Wishes on her ipod Touch. She kept saying afterwards that she could watch it over and over now.

So very kind of the SWA pilots to send the balloon and how cool they were able to find ya'll.
We did pack in a lot and were three very tired folks when we got back to BWI.

I was glad I had gotten my phone out of my pocket as we got off the ride. So when Luke asked her what she thought I had the camera ready.
So glad Morgan finally got to go on some rides and you got your picture with the castle. I think we must have stayed on opposite sides of MK that night and we left after Wishes.
Bummer that we didn't at least see each other.

What a wonderful surprise waiting for you in the room...how cool that they were able to track down where you were staying and leave you a special surprise.
We had a lot of pixie dust sprinkled over this first day. Wasn't the day we'd planned but it was a good day.

Sending the huge Mickey balloon is such a sweet gesture from the SWA crew. Someone did a lot of snooping around to find where you were. I'm sure they were so moved by your continuing to think of them this tough year that they just needed to do something for you.
The sharing of the Epcot area buses is such a pain. BC and YC are on the same route and it's always a long wait there as well. Not only are there too many resort stops so that the buses are often crowded, but the many stops makes the routes soooo long!
We did find that for most of our trip the buses we rode were only shared with the Swan and Dolphin. I don't know if that is a change, but it would be an improvement I suppose as it was long enough sharing with 2 other resorts.

A big Mickey balloon is certainly "above and beyond" from the SWA crew. That is just priceless!!!
Hugs were perfect this day and every day after, too.

Loving Loving Loving the Joy in Morgan's face!!
Since we rode BTMRR at night I'm not sure about all the updates. The geyser outside is working again and very pretty. I thought the ride was smoother, but who knows if it was or not.
Oh my gosh--how sweet that the SWA pilots sent you that cute balloon! Love the pics and so glad glad you got to meet up with Heather and Kurt.
The pilots really did a very special thing for us!

How fun that the pilots sent you a mickey balloon! They sure must have done some digging to find out where you were staying!
There are several different areas within the Rose Garden that are good spots for viewing Wishes.

She did keep going until she laid down in bed and then she was out in just seconds.

I have no idea how they knew, but our thank you card mentioned we were going to Disney, so I guess someone had to do a little research.

Looks like you all had a wonderful evening at MK, and I may have to try out that spot for MM&Y since I can never make out any of the details when I stand on Main Street. Maybe if I put on my glasses, but that would be too easy. I can only imagine how you felt watching Wishes. I would have been a blubbering mess, but I can tell you are a very strong women who knows when to hold it together, and I give you so much credit.
I wasn't sobbing, but the tears will flowing down my cheeks pretty steadily. I couldn't watch and listen without hearing Stefanie singing along a little behind like she always did.

2 PP meets and it's only the first day! Sounds like a lot of fun!
I teared up myself when reading about Wishes and Stefanie. I love Wishes too, it's my favorite! I know she was there with you in spirit, and singing along too!
I love the pic Luke took on AO. That was pretty cool!!
What a surprise from the SWA pilots!!! That was pretty nice. Great detectives they are!
Can't wait to hear about the second day!
Morgan gave us a similar look after several of the coasters, but I didn't always have a camera ready. Hopefully, day 2 will be started tomorrow.

That balloon is fabulous! How nice of the SWA crew to send that.
We picked SM because she had cried and cried in 2007 when her parents told her that she would not be allowed to ride it. They had both been a bit scared themselves and figured she would be, too. But now 5 years later she had the chance and the face says she wasn't scared at all.

Meeting up with PPers again and again on this trip was very special to me and to Luke.

I the club sandwich at The Plaza! So, no one splurged and got ice cream???
I will have to remember the tip about the Rose Garden!!
BTMRR is the best at night!
I remember you telling me about the Mickey balloon, but I guess I didn't realize that it was life size! I love the picture with Morgan behind it!
We had thought we'd get ice cream but after drinking three cokes each and our meals we didn't seem to have any room left for ice cream. That balloon was so big that we had to make sure each night he was hidden out of sight so he didn't scare any of us in the middle of the night.
