Looking for ice, pools, and air conditioning! - Complete!! - Page 28 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I was continuing to encourage water for DD and made sure she had her umbrella to keep the sun off which is why she has her umbrella with her in the pics. She seemed to be feeling a little better as the day went on which encouraged me. I knew she wouldn't make it all day but we were at least trying to make one walk around WS. If she couldn't make it, my back up plan was to catch the water taxi or a bus to head out of the park.
UP next: WS continued.

Great pics of Epcot. You can tell the weather was hot, but you all look like you are having a blast anyway. Glad your daughter started to feel better. Hat pics are great!
You would never know she was feeling under the weather.....her smile is so infectious.
She hides it well, and I agree about her smile but then I'm partial... being her mom and all.

It hit 100 degrees this day, in fact I ended up with a sunburn. We had fun with the hats.
As we made it around the back side of WS it was getting very hot with little shade. We ducked in Germany and got a pretzel to share while sitting inside. The snow cones in Japan (I know they're not called that) but they looked so good we each got one and found some shade to sit and enjoy them. We did manage to snap a few pics as we went along. I remember wandering through stores just to get out of the sun. We found out later that it was 100 degrees on this day. In fact I got sunburned on both arms.
Our pretzel.
I don't really like my picture taken but DD wanted one.
Trying to hide from the sun, while I grab a quick pic.
By the time we walked past France we were really getting hungry, it was about 2 pm and the pretzel at 11:30 didn't seem to last too long. We got a fish and chips from R&C then went to the area behind the little cottage found some shade and had a bite. Yum!
After tossing our trash, we continued walking out of WS. I really had to find a restroom and after checking the map discovered the closest one was by the international gateway. We found a bench for DD, (in the shade of course) while I trotted towards the restroom. I didn't realize I'd have to leave and re-enter which I thought was a little silly just to use the restroom; but I was glad to find one.
After I made it back to DD, she was excitedly telling me she just saw Mary Poppins. We had no idea where Bro was but headed for our meeting spot and saw each other as we approached it. He wanted to check something in Canada he had missed but then would be done. DD & I took the car keys and made our way to the parking lot. The heat in the parking lot was terrible! The temp in the car was 130 something degrees and there was no shade either. There was a van parked beside us, so we stood on the other side of it to be out of the direct sun while waiting for the car to cool off. Bro arrived and we headed for the resort. Yeah! air conditioning!
We relaxed the rest of the day, reading and watching TV. DD has always wanted room service, so for dinner I went to the ASmusic food court and delivered DD dinner in our room which she got a kick out of. We went to bed early and I was hoping that DD would feel much better in the morning as it was her BBBB day and we had to be there at 7:45 which meant leaving our room at 6:45am. Time for
Up next: MK, will DD get to ride Dumbo today?

We were up early and left our room about 6:40am, made our way to the T&T center, hopped the ferry to MK.
Someday I'm going to stay here.
We went through security and got in line for the check in for BBBB, most of the people were in line for breakfast at the Crystal Palace.
It was so cool to see the street empty.
DD making her way down main street.
As we walked by here a family asked if we would take their
pic, our answer? Of course! Then they offered to take our pic.
We're ready to start our day at MK.
On our way to find BBBB.

Just before we entered the castle, Bro took this pic.
Making our way to BBBB.
We found 2 doors, but knew the one we needed because we
could smell fingernail polish.
Murals on the wall are goregous.
The door finally opened and we checked in, then DD Fairy-godmother-in training greeted her and led her into the room. I went with her and one of the first things we saw was the real crowns of the princesses. DD had me take several pics, here's one.
Up Next: DD's makeover.

The original plan was not to wear the top DD has on but something to better match her blue skirt and be more princess like. But I wanted to protect her sunburned skin and the pink umbrella bit the dust yesterday so I had her wear the African top you see her in, I told her Africa had princesses too.
A few of the makeover pictures.
Before...
During...
Ready for make-up...
The reveal...
This was taken later but sums up how DD felt about the whole day, estatic! She loved the whole BBBB process and all the special attention really made her feel like a princess. Then I topped off her makeover by giving her the bracelet I bought for her at DD a week and a half ago. And the surprises aren't done for her yet.
