SuperDave's Adventures in Eastern France's Wine Country COMPLETE!! 6/13 - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Unfortunately, it's a bit misleading on my part as it will be included, not in the next post the one after that. OOPS!.....Sorry! The next post is coming up shortly!

Great pictures from the winery! Sorry about the rain!
Glad you enjoyed them as it was a great experience. This was our 4th tasting and each one seemed to get better. Of course serving us more wine and having a great lunch along with it wouldn't have anything to do with it!

Thursday, 16 May (Day 3 of 3 in Provence-Part Three)
Well, it’s been quite an active day with the rain soaked visit to Seguret and the wine tasting and lunch. This is not as long of a post as the previous and just includes a few photos.
After getting off the bus in the lower town of Vaison La Romaine in Provence, I made ( as well as the rest of the group) the uphill walk back to the hotel in the Upper Town. I dropped off the wine in my room, did a few other things and walked back down below to the lower town around 4 pm to hopefully get a couple of food items in the local shops there. After browsing a number of various local small shops, I came out with a couple of purchases, being a can of Foie Gas and a glass container of French Sea Salt. I was quite happy with these. They weren’t cheap, but not overly expensive. My luggage room is limited, being that I did not bring along a large suitcase for this tour. That’s the idea of a tour like this as we’re carrying our own bags and a Rick Steves tour wants you to be a smart traveler! It’s not like going to Disney where all your luggage is taken care of. I like it this way!
I started walking back to my hotel, when I decided to stop at a café, relax a bit and have an espresso as that’s always a good thing. Enjoyed it and did a bit of people watching with a nice view of the town.
After this bit of enjoyment, I made the trek to the Upper Town and returned to the Hotel Belfroi. at about 5 pm. After a long day with plenty of wine at the tasting and lunch I felt it was time for a little siesta. It wasn’t that short as I nodded off until almost 7 pm. I got myself refreshed to wake up with some cold water and got ready for dinner, which I had a reservation for in the upper town.
Courtyard behind the Hotel Belfroi, which is so beautiful!
I went downstairs to the lobby and I ran into Nancy and Paul from my group, who were each enjoying a glass of Rose in the lounge. I got myself a glass as well and talked with them for a while, hence enjoying a great glass of Rose from Provence, which you can’t beat! We hung out for a bit and about 7:50 I walked to my restaurant for tonight’s dinner. It was down the hill a bit and just about half way down the hill. Sort of hard to describe.
I arrived at the restaurant, which is quite small and family run by a husband and wife in their 30's. It's called Bistro Duo, which makes sense! The husband runs the kitchen, who is from France, while his wife from China takes care of the tables. It was kind of odd with an 8 pm reservation that I was the only one dining here tonight. It seems that most of the tourists visiting this town, seem to frequent the lower town as it’s more convenient, although, I’d find out that the cuisine and service here were rather good.
The hostess served me some puff pastries with an accompanying mayo with dill and lemon, which was quite good. I ordered a glass of Cotes du Rhone Red, which was quite enjoyable. For my first course it was the standard French Onion Soup, which was one of the best I’ve ever had.
For the main course was a Lamb Shank in Red Wine Sauce.
I was still a bit full from lunch earlier so I skipped dessert but the hostess brought me some homemade cookies with walnuts which I enjoyed. I finished off the meal with an espresso and a cognac. I guess, the nap earlier helped as the alcohol didn’t seem to bother me! Overall, a great meal, but just wish there had been others besides myself here. After leaving the husband and wife team thanked me for coming.
I decided to walk to lower town and take a walk to work off the meal for a bit and go to L’Annexe café for a bit, which I had been for lunch yesterday and after dinner the first night. I talked for a bit with a father and son from the UK, who were visiting a lot of Eastern France as I was. Had another espresso and a glass of Cotes du Rhone Red. Don’t know how I was able to have more wine, but perhaps the espresso helped! After a bit of time here I returned to my hotel at around 11:45 pm. Had no trouble falling asleep! No surprise with such a busy day!

What a great time and a great meal! Too bad you couldn't share it with friends!
It was a good meal and I enjoyed it a lot. It was too bad no one else was dining there that night!

Nice finish to your day with a lovely meal! Too bad more folks weren't enjoying such a nice place.
It was a great meal, but an empty restaurant surprised me! Most here go to the lower town, in the main square, but this place certainly had better cuisine than the one I tried there. It was good, but not like this place! It was recommended to me in my guidebook and agree how good it was!
