Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Disney Quest looks fun! As far as that family on the dock, they should have left earlier or taken a bus. I feel so bad that the CMs have to put up with people like that.

I'm not sure what it is about CMC for dinner, but we too really enjoy it as well. I hate buffets, seafood buffets more so( LOOONG story) however, we always enjoy a meal there and so far the kids have too. Glad you guys did as well.

DQ looks like a lot of fun! We have never tried it before, I wonder if Josie and Andre would like it, or be to young for it? Hmmmm, might add that on to the agenda.

We've done DQ years ago and you're right it is very overwhelming! We've got the PAP this time, so could possibly make a stop here in September. I'll have to do more research!

Nice morning at DTD. I'm not a big fan of DQ. I really don't play many video games - never did. The last time I was at DQ I got so nauseous from a virtual reality game that I've never gone back. I think next visit we will skip as well but have a feeling I'll be heading there once my sons hits the tween years.

Sounds like a good day, and I think it was a great idea to catch a cab. We always have cab money ready for when we need it. It's just so easier some times.

Can't wait to hear about your meal with your friends. Sounds like fun!
You know, I never really had any desire to go to DQ, I thought it was just going to be a glorified arcade, but I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, it does have a lot of video games, but they also have virtual reality games and some other fun stuff in there. The girls really liked it, and I'm sure that your DD will love it too!

I was more than happy to spend that $15 on a cab, it was so worth it for the time we saved!

Those hammocks are huge, Laurie! It did make Abby look so tiny

Yes, Duffy multiplied!

The girls were planning on meeting the Bear himself later in the day, so of course they had to bring every single Duffy they had!

That's exactly what I thought when I heard that family complain. It's not the boat captain's fault that you didn't plann accordingly and leave enough time to get to your lunch. Sadly, that seems to be the norm these days, to just push the blame off on to someone else when things don't go your way.

I had a lot more fun at DQ than I was expecting. The girls really loved it, you'll see in a later update that we visited again at their request. I think that Josie would like it, but I'm not sure about Andre, he might be just a little too young. Though, there is an entire section on one floor that has games for younger kids, more along the lines of games you would find at a place like Chuck E Cheese.

I don't think I'd go back if I got sick from one of the games either! We had fun in there, but at the same time it's not on the list of "must do's" for future trips either.

The Best and Worst Dinner of the Trip

Thursday, November 8 - Part 2

I was about 4 pm when we made our way through bag check, so we had about 2 ½ hours to kill before our dinner ADR at Garden Grill.

Hidden Mickeys in our shadows!

We headed into Innoventions first to get in line for the Disney Visa Meet and Greet before it closed at 4:30. The wait was not too long, so we hopped in line behind a few families to wait our turn. After about 10 minutes, an older woman behind us began grumbling and then went over to the CM at the front of the line to see what the “hold up” was. She was rather rude with the CM when she didn’t get the answers she was looking for from her, but did eventually quiet down and go back to the line with her family, still I felt bad for that CM for having to deal with that. I don’t understand why there seems to be so many impatient people at WDW, I mean, even in the lower crowded times you need to expect that you are going to have to wait for some things. And, when you do, it’s not fair to take it out on the CM!

Anyway, a few minutes later, it was our turn and we had a great time meeting Minnie and Goofy.

There were two things next on our agenda, the girls wanted to meet Duffy and also to do another mission or two with Agent P. So, first we stopped and signed up to help Agent P and then headed into the WS to find Duffy Bear. He wasn’t out at the moment, but there were a few families in line waiting for him to return. We got in line, hoping that Duffy would be back out shortly, but no one in line seemed to know when he would be back. After a couple of minutes, we saw Duffy crossing the walkway towards his gazebo, so we didn’t have long of a wait at all.

It was a really cute moment between Duffy and the girls, he was so excited to see ALL of the bears they had with them and they just loved that so much!

Next, we headed towards France so that we could start our Agent P mission. We had done the mission in France last year when it was still Kim Possible, so it was fun to see it reworked for Agent P this time around. Some of the elements were the same, but there were a few new Phineas & Ferb activities worked in too.

We stopped to watch this guy for a little while, Kaeli and Abby were amazed by him!

After finishing up in France, the girls decided to continue on with another mission. They chose to do Japan, so off we went.

We were all feeling a little hungry at this point, so Chris and I split some sushi from the F&WF booth in Japan, and I’m not sure what the girls had as it wasn’t in my notes. We finished up with our mission and returned our F.O.N.E to the drop off location, after that we just took our time strolling through the rest of the WS until dinner.

I may have also spoiled my dinner with this little treat

A dark chocolate caramel with sea salt from Germany. That little piece of heaven was so worth and dinner spoiling it may have caused!!

We still had plenty of time before our dinner reservation, but we decided to head over to the Land to use the restrooms and just sit down for a bit while waiting for our friends. They arrived shortly after us, so we checked in and had hardly any wait before we were brought to our table. We were a large group, with 4 adults and 3 children, so I had assumed they would seat us in one of the larger booths down on the lower level. However, they had put two tables together on the upper level, which I was fine with at first. All of the adults sat along the railing so that the kids could be on the outside of the table with easier access to the characters when they came by, but this meant that our backs were facing the scenery from Living with the Land and the only view we had was of the center wall moving past us as the restaurant spun around it. This would prove to be just awful for me and my friend Chris, because no matter where you looked, the spinning of the restaurant was quite noticeable and it just made us both feel horrible. Sadly, we didn’t really enjoy our food tonight, because we were both just concentrating on not getting sick and ruining the meal for everyone else.

Other than that, the meal was one of the best we had all week because of the character interaction alone. The characters here really have a ball with guests, and they did not disappoint tonight. Mickey, Chip and Dale had fun messing with the girls and their Duffys, they had us rolling. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Mickey tried to steal Duffy!

I think he was walking away with Duffy!

The CM trying to help the girls get Duffy back

The interaction we had with the characters that night more than made up for the horrible way I was feeling during that meal, it was well worth it in the end to see how much fun the girls had that night! After we settled the bill, we headed downstairs for a quick trip on Living with the Land, and then out to the WS we went to find a spot to watch Illuminations. I was surprised at how easily we found a spot, right along the railing in Canada, as it was only about 10 minutes until show time. I had not seen Illuminations in years, and this was the girls first time seeing it. It was just as beautiful as I remembered! After the show, we let the crowds thin a bit before heading towards the exit, and we stopped quickly at the camera shop to pick up our photo from the Visa meet and greet before getting on a bus back to POR.

The photos with Big Duffy are adorable! Is it my imagination or did the meet-and-greet Duffys used to be lighter in color and with "fur" curly and more like the plush Duffys? They're still cute, I just remember them being more of a perfect replica. The bears sure made for a fantastic bunch of character interactions at dinner. I love Farmer Mickey's outfit. I don't like hearing about the problems with facing the spinning wall. I'm sure I'd have had problems as well.

GLad the character interaction made up for the illness watching the restaurant turn. I would have the same problem. Ugh.

We haven't done GG yet. We have had 2 ADR's for it, and always ended up having to cancel it. We don't have room for it next trip. Maybe some other time though!

It's fun to have spend time with friends at WDW!

Love the pictures of the girls with Duffy too.

Great time circling the WS! I'm going to remember that seating issue at Garden Grill because we have a large group for dinner here in June. I'm very easily motion sick and I'm sure that arrangement would have had me very sick to my stomach. But so glad for you all that the character interaction made up for it.
