As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Cute pics from the day at the studios. We have never made it to Muppets, Josie never seems into them for some reason and when her and I went last May, she said she was done with the GMR. Maybe this year she will change her mind
Looks like a great evening at DHS! Bummer that you didn't make it to TSM. Now Writers Stop - I have to make it there for a cookie!
It's a nice stop. I think we go in there at least once a trip, if not every time we're at DHS. It's our 'Starring Rolls'.

I almost wanted to keep that box, but knew I really had no use for it.
I tried to get Lukas to hold his nose too, but he was done posing then.

Hope you guys are ok weather wise. Looks like you might be getting some icy stuff. Stay safe!
Too funny about Buzz right? I didn't know he held the 2 fingers up until I saw the PP pics.
Yesterday the steps were a bit icy, but it got warmer throughout the day. It was over 70 today!!! And supposed to be almost that warm tomorrow, then in a few days we have a low in the teens!!! Does anyone else have weather like this? Or just us in the MidWest?

Anyway, great evening at HS! Looks like it was nice and empty there...just they way I like the parks.
We didn't force him in, but wanted out right away BUT I had to get a pic first.
It was pretty low - everyone was in line for TSMM.

We love the Muppets too and the boys are big fans. They go around quoting the show and we watch the new Muppets pretty often. In fact Lukas picked it out yesterday to watch.

The Writer's Stop is a nice little place - it's next to Sci-Fi. They have cookies, coffee drinks, cookbooks, etc.

WHAT?! Never made it to Muppets?! You must next trip!
I remember you saying Josie was done with GMR because Dylan was the same way in June, but a few months (and maybe MawMaw & PawPaw) changed his mind.
Great way to spend the day at DHS! Those boxes were cute. I saw yesterday where they have power packs at the resorts and those looked pretty cool too. Might keep those in mind for breakfasts or snacks next trip.
I know I am really tired of the up and down here in Oklahoma. It was 74 yesterday and in the 60's right now. Then tomorrow our high is low 40's. No wonder everyone is so sick around here.
The train ride that you went on for the Polar Express is in the town I live. We have never been on the train. I loved the pictures. We might have to check it out next Christmas.
I know I read,about Biergarten and Dylan's lip...how did I not respond till now
Poor little face. Biergarten looks like a lot of fun, I'm just not sure of the food for the boys. I do know they'd have fun oompah'ing
What a fun afternoon!! The Tatooine Traders and the PoC gift shops are the hardest to get my boys out of
I love the Stinky Pete picture too! And I know the line is long, but I think we're going to visit the toys next trip. Great pics

I think they're kind of the same thing from what I gather. I think they're great for a light meal or a snack for the boys to share.

Tell me about it! It snowed Saturday night (late) and today the high is like 55!

That's awesome! You should check out the train. We had a great time. They have a ton of other themed trains throughout the year too.

Going on to DHS...
Your boys would have a ball yelling "Oy! Oy! Oy!"

So they're SW fans too, huh?
The line is long but it doesn't seem to be too bad since there's all the fun things to do while you wait and I knowALL your boys would have fun with it.

I forgot to mention that yesterday morning Shelley (the Pooh) checked in on us by sending me a text and wishing we were having a good time. I just love PPs!!
The usual morning routine went on and then we were out the door, to the bus stop & on an AK bus in no time. We stopped before reaching the bag check for some silly hat photos. These are my MiL’s favorites of the trip. And we slowly made our way into the park. Dylan wanted to push the stroller but it’s kind of high and hard for him to see plus AK is not the best place to be trying this out with the bumpy terrain and narrower paths. Then he decided he needed a break. MawMaw got him moving again though.
Here's a good one of the lip.
We made a pit stop at the restrooms on the way to the safari. Funny as I must’ve been lagging behind and was waiting at the family restroom thinking Dylan was in there with my FiL and then other people came out. I guess everyone else just pulled off to the side there and they went into the men’s restroom.
We had a great safari! Even saw the lion pretty good and our driver even slowed for pictures!
testing the zoom
zebras!
non-zoom
They had some coloring set up after the safari so we let the boys color for a bit and learn about Africa then we grabbed a PP opp before heading off to Yak & Yeti for our 12pm lunch ADR.
And then the PP thought he'd get us girls:
I sent Melissa (honeybee723) & a co-worker a picture of my Yak Attack I had with lunch. Melissa’s reply was “A great way to start the afternoon!”. And it was! Those are DE-licious! I had the Bison burger for lunch and it was delicious too. I have no idea what anyone else had because I didn’t take pictures. Sorry! I think everyone enjoyed their meal though. And while we were waiting my FiL & Dylan did the ‘Mad Lib’ on the menu and created a funny story.
Lukas is always so serious.
For something to do after lunch we did ITTBAB. We sat pretty close to the front and the boys were a little jumpy, but no tears were shed so that was good. It’d been years since I’d seen the show and I forgot how freaky it is – I hate those stingers!
Next up we ventured back to DinoLand. The gang wanted to ride Dinosaur, but Dylan wasn’t having it so I took the boys on Triceratop Spin while they went back in time. And then we played all the games while we waited for them to return. I thought about Jill and how this must be what it’s like with Maddie. J They had fun and we came away with 3 new ‘fluffies’. Dylan won one himself, Mike won him one at the basketball game and I think Mike won another that Lukas got. While the boys finished spending their tickets with MawMaw & PawPaw, Mike & I went on Primeval Whirl. I just love this ride! And it does seem tamer than the last time I rode it.
poor lip
It was getting pretty toasty so it was time to head back to the room to cool off a bit before heading to DtD that night.
Up next…making plans with a PP & getting a 5 year old boy to enjoy DtD
