As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

#5 The Tigger Movie Paul Winchell, the original voice of Tigger, was replaced by 'Jim Cummings', who had voiced Tigger in a number of later stories of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. (Although Winchell did provide Tigger's voice for a number of stories from that series.) The reason given was the 76-year-old's voice was just too scratchy now to properly portray the character. Walt Disney Imagineers heard about this and insisted on hiring Winchell to provide Tigger's voice for the new "Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" attraction at Walt Disney World. He was and it's Winchell's voice that is used in the ride.
As we "speak," I am eyeballing the open suitcase sitting at the end of my bed. The thing is, it's piled high with stuff we're taking with us...but none of it is folded or put in the suitcase in a manner which would suggest we were leaving in less than a week. At this point, it's a big jumbled mess.
I don't know what's going on here. Usually, when I'm about to take a trip, it KILLS me to wait to start packing. At this point, I feel absolutely no motivation whatsoever to pack. I am actually dreading it. Which is...weird. Last year, when we went on our honeymoon, I was packed a week ahead of time, and I kept taking everything out and repacking it, just because it was trip related. So why the lack of motivation this time?
David thinks it is just because I'm tired. My current job is much more physically demanding than the job I was working last time we went to The World, and I'm working a TON more hours than I was then too. He says it doesn't reflect on my level of excitement, just on my physical and mental well-being.
It just makes me feel weird to not be clamoring to pack! I keep thinking about it, and getting excited, but then when I go to do it, it's all...like..."ugh, I don't want to!"
This is, sadly, the only thing I have to say today...I am going to go dump everything out of the suitcase and attempt to get started!!! If I manage anything besides creating a mess on the floor, I'll update again later...
Hey Jess...I think you have one smart hubby! David is right, you tired and you have had one stressful week with your mom. So you not as motivated as you were last year, you'll get it together and before you know it having fun in WDW!
I so agree, you will make it you just have less time to pack and more stuff to do, when you are in wedding, honeymoon mode, you are so frenetic, thus the extra time to pack and repack and repack.

It's getting soooooooo close!
Okay guys, hold your breath....except for a few little things we will need for the rest of this week...I am officially PACKED!
Last night after I updated, David went over and looked at the suitcase, and, being a jokester, said, "I am going to go out in the Family Room and paint, and when I am done, I want this packed and ready to go." Then he winked at me and walked out of the bedroom. He was TOTALLY kidding, and I knew that, but I decided to see if I could do it anyway.
Ta da! When he came back in about two hours later, the only things that weren't packed were the clothes in the dryer and things like shampoo and toothbrushes, which we obviously need in the next four days.
David walks in and says "You are absolutely amazing, and I love you." Lol. I asked him why and he said "Just because, but also because you actually got everything packed." I grinned at him and told him he was lazy and just didn't want to have to help me pack last minute when I would have been absolutely out of my mind. He, being David, didn't deny it.
So, thanks to my helpful-in-some-ways-but-not-others amazing husband...we are almost ready to go!
I am doing this update from my phone (waiting to start work), but I will post the trivia later.
Not much longer now! You're going to have so much fun. Forgive me for being a bit jealous, but my Disney blues are in full swing. We haven't been back two weeks yet, & all I can think about it heading back down there. I really need another countdown!

Great update! I'm glad you got motivated to pack. I never have motivation to pack. I do it the night before we leave - literally, as the past two years I haven't arrived home from work until 10 pm or later, and we leave the house around 3 am. I just can't pack as well unless there's pressure on me to do it.
