We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WOW!! Those pictures are amazing and that water is sooo blue. Like I said, it was overcast for us that day and I don't remember it looking that blue. That is just gorgeous!! UGH!! No air conditioning. Yikes. Hope it wasn't too long of a ride back to the boat.

I cant remember how long the ride back to the port was but it wasnt long at all! Once we got back we were dropped off at the shops for the port of call tourists. I will say that the streets here look poor and you can see a huge difference when you walk through the walkway that they want tourists to see.
It was nearing 130pm and we were starving. We were going to eat here at this cool little resturant and bar
But....Eric's dad threw a fit and did not want to pay for food since the boat was right behind us
So, we decided to get back on the ship and eat lunch and get changed out of our suits.
We first went to the rooms where I showered my body off and changed clothes.
We then went into the air conditioning in the Lido Buffet and had a great lunch!
I had a hamburger that rocked
Eric took this picture after we ate of the pool deck
We then headed back out to the shops and explored the shops. I bought a really cool photo album (that is my obsession)
Eric bought some postcards. duh LOL
We took this pic looking on the other side of the touristy part to the streets
We ventured out on the main streets and walked around until we felt that it might become unsafe so we walked back to the touristy part.
It was getting late and we decided to call it a day and headed back to the ship
Here is a pic of downtown from our balcolny before we pulled away
I dont know if you can see but there is a guy on this little concrete thing out in the ocean that had tied the boats down and he was waving and dancing and entertaining everyone
Goodbye Antigua
The sun was setting on the day
antigua's coastline
We decided to head in once we couldn't see land anymore. I think we were out there for 30 minutes or more...Its so nice to have a balcolny so you can do this!!
We got ready as usual and headed down for drinks at the wine bar
Here is my dress that I
Dinner was amazing at usual and I do not have any pictures of food sorry
We took this pic as we headed out to the 1030 show..
I couldnt have picked a better dress for tonight! The theme was jump jive and wail! So, it was themed to the 30's and 40's with zoot suits ,etc! At one point Eric said I matched the other dresses they were wearing LOL
The shows were just amazing and I loved this one in particular!
We then decided to call it a night and headed to bed around midnight
This little guy was waiting for us when we came to bed
Overall impressions of Antigua
It was hot and sunny except for the little rainshower. The tour we picked was just amazing and I'm so glad we did it. the beach was beautiful and wonderfully relaxing!
The island is very poor which is very sad to see but its so beautiful and the people were very friendly
Up next:
Tortola, Virgin Gorda the British Virgin Islands....weeeeooooowwww they are gorgeous!

Love the pics of the sunset and the Antigua coast. It must be hard going in from the balcony to get ready, you must have wanted to wait until the last possible minute not to miss any of that view.
I LOVE the dress!!! And what a perfect show to wear it to! You should have gotten up and started dancing in the aisle, maybe people would have thought you were part of the show

It was always with reluctancy....Eric always stayed out longer because it takes me longer to get ready
thank you so much...its my fave dress!
LOL I actually think they might have thought that...if I had had enough to drink I mightve just done that!
What a wonderful day on Antigua, so glad Eric was 100% back to feeling himself so he could enjoy. Great pictures and the excursion looked like a great experience, the beach looked so beautiful, its great when the water actually looks blue and bright. Looked like a great way to enjoy some beach time and also enjoy some history.

Beautiful pictures of Antigua! I love all the shoreline shots. Yes, there are distinct advantages to a balcony that make it wonderful! OK I gotta say, you do look great in that dress!

The dress is very nice - I can see why you like it so much.
How awesome to have the balcony - I'm Jealous.
Your Antigua day seems fabulous from start to finish! How lovely!
I have heard other friends who cruise say similar things about the poverty in some of the Caribbean countries... specifically I remember them talking about Jamaica. It is very sad but it is amazing how friendly people can be despite it all. I guess its hard to be down in such gorgeous places.
You already know how much I love that polka dot dress on you! It looks fabulous! I love it with the red shoes too!

Love the beach and the adorable little touristy places. I know that's not the "real deal" - as you said, it's a very poor country - but the touristy things are really cute. I would have wanted to eat there, too - sorry Eric's dad didn't want to. Sometimes you just have to choose the path of least resistance when traveling with others, lol. I know all about that, as I'm currently planning a trip myself (lol) and have had to compromise on a few things (grudgingly, ha ha).
I envy you the balcony... in a few years I can have one, too! *sigh* I just don't trust Meri right now with one. She'd probably be fine, but I have that "mommy terror" going on, and I just am not confident enough to test it.
Love the blue water - and good call about not getting in too far with a strong current. When I was in Puerto Rico (just after my 21st bday), I got caught in a rip current and it scared the ever-loving tar out of me. Since then I've been very cautious.
Can't wait to read more! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress! It's perfect on you!
