What will it be for trip #3? (August 5-14, 2012) - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hannah started her voice lessons again yesterday (aka "music therapy"). We started with an hour lesson but they will be 30 minutes twice a week for the next three weeks (trying to get a summer's worth of lessons into a 3-week time frame). She came home in a much better mood and actually was able to play with her sister. Here is hoping that it does the trick!
I have started making packing lists and looking through the kids disney clothes to see what may fit. We know Ben still has many shirts that fit!
We have also gotten a last minute invitation to our friend's cabin the weekend before we leave for Disney. Me and the kids will be going up on Wednesday with DH joining us after work on Thursday. Me and the kids will return home on Monday evening...leaving me about 4 days to wash the cabin stuff and repack for WDW.
I am excited for our upcoming family adventures...but it also signals the end of the lazy summer days. I am working a few days this week and next...then to the cabin...then to Disney...and then back to work...

We will hit AK (plan, at least) EMH. We have never made an AM EMH. ..
We did not make the safari during our 2010 trip and cannot recall how long it took in 2009--I only recall the long and winding line! If we go immediately to the safari at 8am...when would we expect to be done?
We would like to do EE (well---three of us want to do that...) and Dinosaur before the lines start.
Our other goals that morning are to get to the affection section (has been on our wish list since our first trip and we have never made it) and DinoLand before the crowds and the heat become unbearable.
We have a 12:30 lunch reservation at Tusker House and are not expecting to last much longer into the afternoon sun and heat. If we stick around AK…it will certainly be for the air-conditioned shows...
Can someone help me with the best touring plan to meet our family goals that morning?
We do have a GAC for DD (8) but do not expect to need it in the morning. I will avoid EE along with her so if we do not get the others to EE in the early morning we will need a FP for that.
We are big fans of any park's EMH (AM though) as for AK, we go right to the safari frist thing and have always walked right on. From there we normally walk the PFT and the MJT. I like to get those out of the way before the trails get too crowded and too hot. We haven't made it out to the conservation station yet, but hope to do that this fall.
BTW..... I so love Ben and his disney t-shirt wearing!!! Adorable, and so subtle too
Did you ask St. Anthony to send you some pixies for finding that scale??
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Hope the voice lessons continue to balance Hannah's mood! Not sure about the best plan for AK, but what we've done is have Luke get the EE FPs and then meet Stefanie and me at KS. If you want to do affection section, you could head back there next as the train station is close to KS. I'm hoping someone here as much better advise. Stefanie was not much interested in Dinoland so we never made a rush to get there.

I smiled about the St Anothiny reference. I am not catholic so it is a bit cloudy to me...but one of my dearest old friends would say things like that. Does it work for protestants ?LOL

Thanks for the tip. I will send DH ahead for the FPs. Are the FP machines open during EMH am??
We have only ever done TSMM with a FP (or Hannah's GAC) so we have never seen the cool stuff in the queue. Is it worth rushing to TSMM at park open just to experience it? And it we get there "right away" will the wait be under 20 minutes? (Which is about all Hannah can tolerate...)

Well this past trip we arrived at TSMM 15 minutes after park opening and the wait time was 75 minutes. I'm not willing to wait that much time just to see the cool props they have.

Are you sure wit was not an EMH AM? That is NUTS!!!!
Finally gettin back in here! So sorry that this summer has been stressfull and sorry that your moms house did not sale, I am sure the right buyer will come soon! Plans are lookin good! Hope Hannahs voice lessons are goin well. I would try for TSMM, we LOVE, LOVE that ride, I think it will be worth it!!!

When we rode TSMM in June, we were able to get in the stand by line right at opening and were through in about 20 to 25 minute. I waited until afterwards to get our FPs, so these weren't good until early afternoon. If we had realized how quickly the FP line moved, we might have gotten those first.
On EE, I can't remember if it was an EMH day or not, so I'm not sure about FPs for EMH.

LINNY!!!!!!!
So I did not ask St Anthony for help....Last night one of my BFF's (who happens to be Jewish) tried a prayer to St Anthony after she was complaining to a Catholic friend that her daughter had lost her IPOD touch and she has been asking everyone all summer if they'd seen it...She said she found it 10 minutes later--in a bin she swore she'd searched 20 times.
If it worked for a Jewish girl---
I tried at lunch...when I was doing laundry later...I re-checked a cupboard...and there it was....Dusty....and in a pouch reading, "Live it with Charter..." I was looking for it by itself, not in a pouch...
So now that I have my luggage scale (Thanks Linny....and St Anthony!)...
I have been making a general touring plan for our DHS and AK days. Although MK and Epcot come first...it is easier to make a plan for these parks since we are not likely to be there for full days.
Last night, me and the kids "rode" rides on YouTube. Ineeded to know which rides Hannah refused to do so we could plan accordingly for the family and make sure Ben does not miss rides (like he did so often on the first trip, pre-GAC).
At AK Delaney is too small for Primeval Whirl but Hannah wants to do it, so we will need to plan for two times through the line on this one. Will try for a child swap...Hannah refuses to do EE but I am not sad to skip it, so she and I will need to do something while the others ride this mountain. It will need to be an AM EMH choice for a FP choice.
Our AK day is an EMH and I want to do as many "outside" things as possible before it gets stinkin hot. I also want to minimze criss-crossing the park
since we will not have a stroller.
We want to get to Rafiki's Planet watch right away so want to use the 8-9am time efficiently.
So despite others' advice....we may start in Dinoland for Dinosaur before heading to the Safari. I figure this should take about an hour and put us in a good position to take a train to Rafiki's (never done this!). We will check EE FP return times before heading to Rafiki's to decide if we can gt one before or if we need to get it after Rafiki's. I figure we will be hot and ready to get splashed on KRR and then hang out in that area for DH and the others to ride EE.
If it is timed well, Hannah and I may catch flights of wonder while the others do EE....
That should bring us about to our Tusker house lunch ADR at 12:30.
After lunch, we will return to Dinoland for tricepatop spin and Primeval whirl while we wait for the afternoon Nemo show.
That would be about 8 hours in a park, and more than we usually can make. So if we get through the above, we will probably call it a success and head back to the resort for a swim and rest.
