Home for the Holidays: A Thanksgiving and Christmas Mashup (A Cam and Luke PTR) Updated 11/4 - Page 26 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry Cam, I was reading multiple PP trip report plans and I must have mixed them up when posting. I noticed that Tara mentioned in a reply to you that she was eating at the Flying Fish and mixed it into your plans.
It should be a fun morning at AK with your FOP fastpass! We'll be at MK a good part of the day before heading over to Epcot for our dinner reservation, so we might see each other in the afternoon! We also got a cool front come through during the night and it actually feels like Fall now!
I've done the same thing before. Too many trip report details at once.
We'll definitely have to check in with each other. I'm loving the cooler weather right now.

We have gotten into the habit of an afternoon nap or at least rest time before we know we'll be staying out late.

You will have to let me know how you and Luke like FOP (Our FP is the next day @ AK). You are really lucky to get ADR at BOG. We really wanted to get reservations for BOG, but we had no luck. We are very excited about MVMCP also!!!!!!
We will let you know what we think of FOP. I did work on BOG first, but I had several options for time. The last few trips we've been unable to get it, so I was quite excited, especially to get it before the party.

Yes, it is. We got our hair cut today, and before we left, our stylist asked if we'd set up our next appointment. She thought we had it right before our trip, and she was spot on. That made it seem even closer.
Well, I will have to make sure we run into you during the party because we will be there also that night!!!!!
We haven't been to this party since 2009 and I seriously can't wait!!!!!

I forgot part of my story when I mentioned that Luke had purchased a limited edition 45th Anniversary/WDW Railroad Magic Band. He had been checking the Shop Parks app every day, but each day the site showed the Magic Band with a banner that stated it was available only in stores. Then one morning a few weeks ago, it was available. When he put it in the cart, he also learned that we’d get the AP 20% discount, even though we haven’t activated our new annual passes yet. After he told me this good news, I asked him to add one more thing to the cart. My DMIL Thelma had given me a Disney card back in July for my birthday. I’d been saving it to use at WDW so that I could use our annual pass. Now I didn’t have to wait and I knew exactly what I wanted, a long sleeve hoodie t-shirt for the Food & Wine Festival. Since we will arrive the last week of the festival, I was concerned that the shirts would be sold out and gone. Luke added it to the cart and the 20% discount covered it, too. I’ve already worn it once; it is so comfortable. I’ll definitely be taking this with us on the trip. Guess I ought to go ahead an take a photo of it and Luke’s Magic Band to show you all.
Day 11 Wednesday, November 15
This will be our last full day in Disney World, and we’ll be splitting our time between two parks. We plan to begin at Epcot, even though the Food & Wine Festival will have ended on Monday. With the tiered FastPasses for attractions here, three days gets us all three of the big rides here. So here’s what we have:
Test Track at 9:10
Mission Space at 10:20 A treat on this ride is Linda and her girlfriends will be riding with us.
Character Spot at 11:20
Like the previous day, I’m not sure right now how long we’ll end up staying at Epcot before moving on. We may be tired from our late night at MVMCP, so some naptime at the resort might be in order.
Dinner tonight will be with Linda and friends. We’ll join them at the Grand Floridian Café, a new place for us and one we’ve wanted to try but keep forgetting. Dinner is at 6:45. Since we will be so close to the Magic Kingdom, I’ve asked Luke if we can return and see Happily Ever After again. I know I’m going to love this and seeing it at least a couple of times will be fun.
Hope you can share Luke's MB as the WDW RR version sounds so cool and must be amazing as I know Luke just loves his trains!
I know what you mean about the late nights in the parks with you and MNSSHP on your upcoming trip and something I did on mine and it can take a lot out of you and you want the sleep more than anything else! No matter how much you desire going to the parks in the AM and experiencing those early FP+s as not always possible.....your brain tells you one thing and your body tells you something else!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
What a wonderful way to spend your last full day!! You guys will love the GF Cafe! We think it’s a hidden gem! And how fun to meet up with Linda again!
How great that you both were able to get your AP discount for the railroad magic band and your long sleeve t-shirt! Can't wait to see a picture of it. We're so excited to spend time with you both on this day!!!
Congrats on the purchases. One perk to Epcot today is that you might get to see some of the Christmas decorations. As I recall, they start going up the minute F&W comes down. Enjoy your day.
