We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 26 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Thank you so much Cam. It was a great Anniversary for Erick & I and the restaurant certainly made extra touches to make it extra special for us(I forgot to mention they sang a song in Japanese wishing us a Happy Anniversary to the tune of If You're Happy and You Know It with their tambourine and drum too). Thank you for the condolances for Sturgis. I did text DSil in KY to see how she was getting through the day especially since she was the one letting me know about Sturgis being put down and she does think there will be another pet aroubd here in the next 3 months to a year, and she did tell me I could ask DMil about another dog for Skyler since DMil would be the easy one to say yes. I'm not going to bring that up to Erick until after we get back from Disney, but we do know DMil wants another dog(although they love cats too, I'm the difficult one with Cats b/c of my allergies to them).
Hey Becki...First of all... Home Depot stinks don't it??? I haven't seen Dave since Sunday!!!
I so glad you and Erik had a great Anniversary. Happy Belated Anniversary!!! And many more!!! You beat me- Dave and I got married and Kate was born 4 months later!!!
I am very sorry about Sturgis. It sounds liked he was very loved. It's better to have let him go than have him suffer.
I did also ask Erick to see if he was going to be home
Monday, June 14th or if he thought he'd be working at Home Depot to join in on the fun of our 100 Days til Disney Party. He loved my idea for using Disney things we have around the house with an exception of some other things I need to buy. He thinks it will be a great way to get Skyler excited about the trip. I do need to look for my Disney Planning DVD for us to watch to get him prepared for some of the rides and attractions we will see there.
I am going to try to make us an 'Ohana Type Breakfast (or at least with some of the offerings from Breakfast) and I do need to look to see if there are any Hawaiian Leis here, if not we need to find some, and Our Mickey, Pluto, & Stitch Stuffed Animals will join us (sadly we don't have Lilo, but we can improvise with her). I am going to also make Skyler a few Mickey/AK themed Lunch during our Fun Day, and we'll wait until DMil, DFil, & Erick to get home from work to enjoy a Mickey's Backyard BBQ inspired Dinner(although we aren't dining there this time, but the menu looks great and fun. We may have to pull out Skyler's Goofy, Minnie Mouse, & Donald Duck to join us for dinner too. I think I'm going to pull out one of his Disney Beach Balls and we'll have to play outside with it, as weell as fill up his outdoor bubble machine and let Mickey's Magical Bubbles entertain him for a little while with a Toy Story Rocket Space Ship Sprinkler toy. I just found Mickey Party Supplies at our Target on sale for less than $1.50 a piece, so I bought those (cups, plates, napkins, & table cloths) and some items in the dollar section, popcorn cups for us to end the evening with a Disney Movie we own, Hot Dog
Containers, Burger Baskets fo. The chicken and biscuits, and the corn holders with dishes, and the plates can be for dessert and sides. I was in shock the Mickey party supplies were on sale. I' also naming the Freezer Mickey's Plaza Ice Cream Shop for our party and I think we need to make Mickelodeon Ice Cream like they serve at The Plaza. I can't wait for our 100 Days until Disney all Day Party. I found leis too!
I also bought us some Disney Bandaids (Toy Story ones for Skyler and Princess ones for Mom & I and will buy a box of thr Mickey ones due to come out next month for us too). I was also happy to find Neosporin to Go for Children 2 and up as that will be perfect for Skyler. I did need to pick up more Pull Ups(he gets so excited wearing Buzz and Woody on his Pull ups) and wipes for Skyler and Erick needed deodarant.
Thank you so much Dawn. I figured if anyone would understand Home Depot, it would be you since you and Dave also work for Home Depot. They do stink, but they help us pay our bills and trips to Disney. Thank you for the belated Anniversary Wishes. At least you got to enjoy a few more months of being a newly wed before Katie came than we did with Skyler, however I loved feeling him kick in my stomach on our Wedding Day.
It is better for Sturgis that she isn't suffering anymore. Thank you so much or the pixies. One of our neighbors down the street has let us know we can play and pet with their sweet dog Annabelle whenever we see her outside and she is great around Skyler and he likes her too. Which I thought was sweet of him. His wife volunteers at a no-kill rescue shelter that we will have to take a look at dogs.
Thank you so much Cam! I can't believe we're almost at 100 Days and I do look for any excuse to have fun with Skyler, especially Disney wise. Now all I need to do is buy an cook the food and enjoy the day with Skyler. Shopping was a great distraction as is planning our Disney Fun Day, and the Stanley Cup Final.
Sorry it's been so long since I commented on your PTR! Things have been a little crazy...but I'm all caught up now.
I worked for the Home Depot at one point. I will NEVER work there again, the one I worked at treated their employees like absolute trash. Hopefully the one Eric works at is a little better.
I am really sorry about your dog, but it's really better that Sturgis isn't in pain anymore. Sometimes it's more merciful that way, even if it causes the Pet Humans to be devastated and sad. I hope the family heals, and I am very sorry for your loss.
I am SOOOOoooo excited for our Disney Trip, but still bummed that with your changed dates we'll miss each other by one day.

Thank you Jessica. I am so sorry the Home Depot you worked at treated you like Trash. The one Erick works at, well first things first the person who does their schedules just lacks in scheduling employees, especially where they try slapping him on the schedule for hours where he's at his Full Time job which is a Government Job and also when he's in class on the one night a week he takes a class. They have very few people in his department with a Forklift license so I understand why they need him when someone else without one isn't there, but it's not like he can leave his other job early for them. He's not crazy about the store manager either. His boss is willing to give him the extra hours the only thing that drives me nuts when I have to call him there is their phone center people constantly lie to me and tell me he's not there (especially where he goes in and leaves with his mom when they work together) and don't bother paging him for me (I always have to ask for DMil instead since I know she won't lie to me and will either page him for me or pass along a message to him). I think there are days he just gets frusterated with some people in his department who just don't work and pretty much leave it for him.
Thank you about Sturgis. We know it was the best decision for her and I have to agree it wasn't fair for her to suffer anymore. I think slowly but surely it will get easier, but thankgoodness Skyler is a little goodball he can make me smile even when I am sad, as can Erick. I just have to say it is hard saying goodbye to the sweetest of animals who wouldn't harm a fly than probably a more vicious one.
I am so happy you're getting excited about your trip. I am still so mad we are going to miss you by a day, however we may have to make that happen some day (since I know we are moving to Colorado at some point over the next few years and DLR isn't far from you and is about a 17 hour drive from where we will be living in Colorado Springs).
Thank you so much Melissa. I can't wait to put it all together and enjoy it with Skyler, Erick, & his parents. It will make a hot summer day feel great, but also give Skyler our love of Mickey. Shoot, I have to see about going to the party store to find Mickey Ears, Mickey Cupcake Papers, and Cupcake Picks for Dessert. It will certainly add to thr excitement of us being 100 Days away.
Sorry guys I tried to post the pictures this morning before Skyler woke up before mycomputer decided to shut off on me.
Sorry I don't have much to report other than a month from today is Skyler's
3rd Birthday. I don't know where the time has gone since I held my little peanut in my arms for the first time and still can't believe I had to have a C-section for a 4lb. 10oz 18 inch long baby. I was so surprised when they told me he was that tiny. He certainly isn't a peanut any more as he does have some long legs for his age and can already see over the countertops. It is amazing how fast they grow up, but like Peter Pan, I keep telling him he can never grow up. The only thing though is I'm still not used to being wrestled with a little boy and him trying to beat up his mommy. Erick constantly laughs at me when I tell him that I am the Princess of the 2 of them and boys are not supposed to hurt Princesses. I think the Disney Princesses would agree.

Becki - I'm just trying to get caught up here but I wanted to send you pixies for Sturgis...
...And so happy that you two had a wonderful anniversary dinner (we did, too.)
Thank you so much Cathy! I' so happy to have you reading along. Thank you so much for the pixies for Sturgis and Thank you, we had a wonderful Anniversary, and I'm so glad to hear you did as well. So nice we're Anniversary Buddies!
Cathy, too bad our trip is after you return from WDW in Sept.
The Vet was sweet to send a condolance card to the family(I'm sure they do to every pet they have to put down). I have to say it was a really sweet thing for them to do. I can say this is a first I've seen any Vet do this (but then again I've never had a pet get put down before, our old dog ran away with a Cocker Spaniel and that was the last we saw of him).
And I do have a little confession for you all as I realizedthis probably a few days ago, this isn't going to be the first trip report I will write. When I was a Junior in High School, I took a Middle Eastern Government class to help prepare me for a 6 week trip I took to Prague, Cyprus, & Israel through the Youth Group Organization both the Temple I belonged to in Florida and the one my dad belongs to in Massachusetts(same organization, just different regions). I had to keep a journal throughout my trip and when I came back to start my Senior Year of ahigh School, I was required to write a paper based upon my journal and experiences. As hard as I thought it would be to write an 8 page paper then, I was quite surprised when it turned into a 14 page paper. That was probably the easiest long paper I ever had to write and can't wait to do it again for this trip, but for fun.
