As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So I suppose it's about time to finish my Disney story...
My last shift was completely surreal. We were pretty slow which was nice cause I got to talk to everyone I was working with and say goodbye and such. I miss it there soooo much more than I could have ever imagined.
I had to turn in my ID, but I waited until that Saturday to do so (it expired Friday May 21st, so I used it until then) Sooo bittersweet. I will never get over not getting into the parks for free anymore, that was the best job perk you could ever ask for, EVER.
But let's go back to the beginning of my last week...
My dad also came to visit one last time before my program ended. So he was there the weekend before my last week, which I conviently took off work from
We stayed in the Lovebug building at All Start Movies
Then we checked out Animal Kingdom because although I've been there with him before, he couldn't remember ever going there!!
We also went to dinner in Epcot, China to be exact. Then we went and watched "Old Dogs" on the Beach Club beach so my daddy could see where I'd been working the whole time
My mom came on Tuesday too, so the end was very family packed She helped me pack up my apartment sooooo much! And we did our traditional Disney things before she left again!
Breakfast at Crystal Palace, my absolute FAVORITEE!!!!
Also, the new Ariel meet and greet is up and running
She gave up her grotto for a prince, just like the movie haha
Empty once again, for the next CP to move into
We did Wishes one last time, OF COURSE. My favorite thing ever. Although I will be going to see the Summer Nightastic fireworks as well, I hear they are pretty good.
I spent my LAST free Disney day at DHS for Day 1 of Star Wars Weekends! Couldn't miss that obviously
Jedi Mickey is just the cutest ever!
I also went and found my one roomie (the one I adored) at DHS, because she had the same idea I did haha
there we are saying goodbye SO SADD I miss her lots and lots!
Then the last thing I did was go see Fantasmic one more time, because I somehow managed not to go see it throughout my program. I saw it with my mom before I moved in, and then never went back because I hate how crowded it gets when it's only 2 days a week, yuck.
So that was it. On Saturday one of my friends picked me up at the Treehouse and took me to Beach Club to turn in my ID and then we went to Boma for dinner, amazing as usual. Then that night when my bestie got off work we went to see Shrek 4 at the Pleasure Island AMC and that was it, I was no longer a Disney CP
Right at the end of my program our CP manager put up a group picture with each person's name on for everyone else to sign with well wishes. So I got mine in the mail after getting home. It's such a nice little keepsake, because I really did LOVE my job and I LOVEEEE my coworkers so much. I was so lucky to have been given that position and that place!
What a great thread to read. Wish I would have seen it earlier. You had me totally hooked with PSU and Disney 2 of my favorite things. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures and great stories. i really enjoyed reading your adventures.

So glad you had a great experience as a CP. Any thoughts of returning?
Basically those are the only thoughts filling my head haha I'm going to try for a professional internship Fall of 2011, or else I'll probably do a second CP. I really want it to be at Yacht and Beach again no matter what it is, I was so blessed to be able to work there
I'd go back in the Spring but I'm moving into an unfurnished apartment for the year that I'm not really suppose to sublet. Plus I think it will be nice to experience other seasons at Disney
Thanks so much for sharing your semester at Disney. I have enjoyed the experience. Good luck as you return to your regular school program. Best wishes with your goals of being selected for more CP in 2011.

I just noticed this thread yesterday and have been reading about your CP adventures. Different, since all the CPs I know work in Merchantainment (with me). Sounds like everything went really well - I can tell you loved the work. I hope the "Little Lake Bryan" experience wasn't too bad. I lived in South Halls when I went to Penn State (I hear they are being demolished to make way for a highrise).
Great idea to come back for an internship next year. I see someone else asked you you going seasonal. I did know someone who did that (we worked together at a Disney Store that has since closed), but I guess she was in merchantainment. I have lost track of her, but she ended up moving down here and going f/t, then moved back home, and I think she went back to that TDS, but I don't know where she is, since the store closed last year.
Tri-Sig, huh.
Good luck with your classes at PSU and hope you get the internship!
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn about the CP through your eyes. It was a great way to find out more about Disney in a way that the most of us will never have the chance to experience.
Good luck in what will surely be a beautiful and exciting future!
