Jared's Wish Upon A Star Pop Century Trip 8/14-8/24 - Updated 6/30 - Page 26 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Wow, I can't believe I am back. I thought I'd never get to finish my TR, but here I am. I apologize for the long delay for an update. I've been going through a lot as I mentioned before, but for the past two weeks Aidan has had this mysterious rash that will not go away. I've been to the doctor 3 times already and they said he had hives (not sure from what since his diet has not changed and nothing in his environent has changed either). They finally put him on oral steroids and it went it way for a day only to come back again. I called the doctor again and she said if he is not better by the time he is done with the steroid tomorrow, she will send him to a dermatologist. It is just really frustrating not to be able to help him when I see how uncomfortable he is. I asked the doctor to run a blood test a week ago, but she didn't think it was necessary. I really like his doctor, but I'm starting to think it might be time to find a new one.
Anyway, I am sorry to keep you all waiting so long. I hope I haven't lost too many readers. Here is another update:
We were at Epcot with our Soarin Fastpasses in hand. We decided to head over to The Seas with Nemo & Friends since "Finding Nemo" is one of the boys’ favorite movies.
Jared and Aidan on the way to see Nemo
We all enjoyed our ride in the “clamobiles” some more than others. Is it only me, but I could not get that song out of my head “ in a big blue world….”
Will in his "clamobile"
Next we headed over to one of my personal favorites, Turtle Talk with Crush. I wasn’t sure if Aidan would sit up front with the rest of the kids, but he did. I was afraid that he’d start crying for me during the show, but he proved me wrong. He was fine.
We always enjoy this attraction, but it was even better this time because Crush talked to my boys. He said he wanted to talk to the little dude in the blue shell. A CM quickly ran over and put the microphone in front of Aidan who would not say a word. So, Crush said “the other dude in the blue shell next to him” the boys had identical outfits on. The CM put the mic in front of Jared and their conversation began.
I could tell Jared was a little nervous by the tone of his voice. Crush asked him his name and then asked where he was from. Jared said Pennsylvania??? Like he wasn’t too sure. Crush said “I didn’t know it was a question dude.” Then Crush asked him if he was having fun and what was his favorite part of the day. Jared said his favorite part was “ riding on Nemo”. Crush’s reaction was hilarious. His eyes opened really wide and he said “ Dude, you rode on Nemo?” Then he rolled his eyes like he was in shock. It was so funny.
Crush proceeded to ask Jared who he was with and Jared said “ my mom and dad”. I was kind of glad when the CM ran over and put the mic in front of Will’s face instead of mine. Crush had a whole conversation with Will, who did not understand a word Crush said. Then Crush said “ Do you know what just happened dude?” Will was still clueless he couldn’t understand the surfer accent and Crush said “ we just shared a moment.” It was really great and definitely stands out as one of the best parts of our trip.
Yay! You're back. I hope the rash goes away without any problems. I'm glad y'all had a great time visiting with Crush. It was totally awesome, dude, when he picked my daughter in her pink shell.
(sorry about all the different colors I can't get the drop box for the colors to open up)
After Crush, we explored the rest of this pavilion. We saw dolphins, manatees, sharks, etc. Of course, the boys had to get their picture taken in Bruce’s mouth. Glad to see there was a photopass photographer here this time.
Bruce eating my children
they are great actors
Right about this time, our Soarin Fastpasses were ripe. We headed over there and Will and Jared rode first. It seemed like we waited for an eternity for them to be done. Aidan was getting antsy and just tired of waiting. So I decided to sit on the floor with him and play with some new little cars that he purchased. He ended up having the time of his life. I can honestly say this was the most fun he had. forgot to mention I also held his hand and let him jump off the benches there a few times
Aidan playing on the floor
We played forever, or at least it felt that way until we finally saw Will and Jared walking towards us. I didn’t feel like riding just yet, so we decided we would come back later.
We were definitely ready for a snack now. No one was really hungry still full from our princess breakfast, but we can always use a snack or two, lol.
We headed to Sunshine Seasons. Jared wanted a chocolate chip cookie and I asked the CM at the bakery how much a cookie would be. This is when we had another one of our magical moments it might not seem like a big deal, but it felt really special to us at the time. She told me the cookies were free for us since it was our 10th anniversary it pays off to wear those pins. She handed me two cookies and I thanked her very much. I also bought a bag of chips for Aidan, a couple of drinks, and off we went.
Aidan decided he was hungry now of course he waited until we had left Sunshine Seasons to tell us so we decided to go to Electric Umbrella. Will and I had eaten there in 1997 and I remember eating spaghetti. I was disappointed when we got there and the spaghetti was no longer on the menu.
Even though the rest of us were not very hungry, we decided to share something since our 7pm ADR was still a few hours away. Also, I wasn’t sure if the boys would eat the Mexican food and I didn’t want them to starve.
Aidan and Jared shared the adult size chicken breast nugget meal and Will and I shared a cheeseburger. The chicken was good, but I really did not care for the burger. I let Will eat most of it I’m sure he was happy that I didn’t like it, lol
Since we were close to Innoventions West, we decided to check it out. Inside, Jared played every video game he could get his little hands on.
Jared playing video games
Will participated in the Segway did I spell it right? exhibit. He had to wait in a long line, then he had to watch a video, and sign a waiver. Eventually, he came out and actually got to ride the Segway.
It was really cool, but I was pretty mad at myself for not getting a picture of it. I think Will was mad at me too I blame him for never letting me use the video camera. My digital camera’s batteries died at that exact moment and I couldn’t figure out the video camera for the life of me did I mention that I am technically challenged? I’m not sure at what point Aidan fell asleep, but he was out for a while. Then he woke up for a minute and fell asleep again.
Aidan wakes up for a minute
We played a fire safety game where we had to run around an interactive house and put out fires with “fire extinguishers”. Aidan was still sleeping through this. poor Will had to carry him through the house while he put out fires, lol. We had a really great time.
Aidan fell asleep again
Jared on a fire truck at Innoventions
By now, I was ready to ride Soarin’ so we headed back to The Land pavilion. I used a rider switch that DH had gotten earlier and we were on the ride 23 minutes later. we waited a few minutes longer because I requested a front row seat. Jared and I had a blast. definitely one of my favorite rides ever.
the boys goofing around in the stroller
We still had some time before dinner so we asked the boys what they wanted to do. They decided to pay Figment a visit over at Journey Into Imagination with Figment. The ride is just okay, however, the kids really enjoy it. I think we went on it twice in a row since the line was so short.
It was almost time for our ADR so we headed over to Mexico. The check in line at San Angel Inn was unbelievably long. People were trying to get in without ADR’s but there was no way. I think we waited for about 40 minutes. definitely the longest wait we had at any restaurant during our trip We killed some time by checking out the little shop there. The boys tried on sombreros and posed for some pictures. Then Aidan decided he wanted to buy maracas, so he got a small set. Finally, it was our turn to be seated.
It was definitely worth the wait. We got the exact table that we had hoped for right by the water even though we did not request it. I did tell them it was our 10th anniversary though.
sorry the pic is so dark, my camera stinks
We were seated next to another couple who was also celebrating their anniversary, however they were smart and left their children with a sitter. All kidding aside, the boys behaved a lot better than I thought they would. they did get rice everywhere, but I can’t complain. They actually ate too which I was happy about.
this not very flattering, way too close picture of us taken by Jared
boys behaving badly
Just kidding, they are angels, just look at those faces
We started off with chips and salsa. I’ve definitely had better. As for our entree's Will ordered Pollo A Las Rajas (grilled chicken breast served over red peppers, onion strips, cream sauce, and fresh cheese.) it was okay, a little too spicy, mine was definitely better. I ordered Filete Motuleno (grilled beef tenderloins with beans, Oaxaco melted cheese, Ranchero sauce, Pablano peppers, and fried plaintain) I felt bad so I let Will share my food. Aidan ate plain yellow rice and Jared ordered Quesadilla de Pollo (grilled flour tortilla filled with low-fat cheese and chicken. Served with Mexican rice).
my dinner (sorry I didn't get a picture of Will's)
Jared enjoying his meal
For dessert we ordered Flan which was very good and some kind of ice cream I can't remember what it was called.
flan
Overall, we had a great meal. The service was a little slow, but our waiter was very nice and attentive. I really liked the food and would definitely go back there. I would probably go earlier in the day however.
Even though we were exhausted by the time we were done with dinner, we decided to go on the Gran Fiesta Tour the line was very short. I might be in the minority here, but I like this better than El Rio Del Tiempo.
We decided that we were too tired to stick around for Illuminations, but the boys wanted to do one more thing before going to bed. They wanted to ride the monorail. or choo choo as Aidan calls it. So we hopped on the monorail to the TTC, then rode a monorail to MK, and finally a bus to back to Pop.
quick picture of MK while switching monorails
Up Next: Will The Real Indiana Jones Please Stand Up and Am I Braver Than A Second Grader.....
What a great update...sorry Aidan is not feeling too well, it was so strange that you mentioned the hives as my neighbors daughter also has these hives and rash that suddenly appeared and they are still nto sure what it is ) Hope they figure out what he is reacting to and that he is feeling better soon.
What a great afternoon at Epcot...love the pictures and glad that everyone has such a good time with Crush...
