As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

First, welcome back!
I love the 'horse-drawn' carriages some of the princesses are in. Much less mess on Main Street with that type of horse!
I also liked the Alice float, with the giant Alice in the cottage.
But the float with Mickey and Minnie made me stop to remember you're there in May. The garland and stars made that look like a Christmas themed float to me.
All in all, seems like everyone was covered in that parade, so it didn't seem short from that perspective.
Oh, and did your Donkey boy not look at you?! Seemed to only be donkey-butt pictures?

That one's been there since about 2003 I think. I remember being in awe of it the first time I saw it, not so much now...

Sadly that was the case. However, I did have some donkey boy time still to come...
Glad your back, as we have another trip report to look forward too. Great shots of the parade, too bad your Donkey boy and my Tigger had their backs to the camera.

It is a bit odd - I think they do the floats in halves, so you see one thing from the front and something else from the back.
Sunday 1 May – part eleven: that’s very unlike Disney!
By now, it 6:10pm, and although we did contemplate going to ride Phantom Manor, as Evie wanted to ride with Mark, we figured that would be cutting it a bit fine with dinner being booked in 20 minutes’ time, so we opted out. We said our goodbyes to them, and Daisy couldn’t resist walking up to this door, which is where Minnie had come out from earlier in the day, when she’d met her. She tried the door, and I couldn’t believe it – the darned thing opened! We quickly told her to shut it again. Wow, that’s very unlike Disney!
Anyway, we had an important mission to do first…
I’d spoken to Tom and told him we’d seen a Disneyland Paris jigsaw puzzle, and we were thinking of getting that for Evie for her birthday, and he told us to go for it – as far as he was aware, no-one else had got that, so we headed off to buy it. We put our €25 voucher that we received on check-in to good use, and used that to pay for it, although that caused a bit of confusion. The Cast Member had to go and find another Cast Member, possibly a manager, to check it was still valid, as it was dated from yesterday, but she confirmed it was good for 48 hours. Phew!
That done, we made our way out of the park, and went back to the hotel.
I suggested Mark take the jigsaw straight out to the car, as it would only go back to our room, and then have to go into the car in the morning, so he went off to do that, while I relaxed in the lobby for a few minutes.
We then headed upstairs to the Inventions buffet. There were quite a few people in front of us, and we got the distinct impression that one family were left very disappointed, judging by their body language when they left the podium. We guessed they hadn’t got a reservation, and presumably they were told the restaurant was full?
Finally, after a few minutes’ wait, we headed in, and we were seated right by the buffet, which was a very pleasant change from the last time we ate here, when we’d been in a side room, and we’d had to complain about characters missing us out.
As soon as our server appeared, I asked the most important question of the night – which characters are here tonight? He reeled off Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy, and I was getting worried that I’d be out of luck with any donkey love tonight, but thankfully the last name he came out with was Eeyore! I was grinning from ear to ear at the prospect of seeing my donkey boy again, especially after he’d headed to the wrong side of the kerb during the parade, and had missed seeing me.
We barely had time to consult the drinks menu, before a very familiar looking mouse made an appearance, so we figured we’d better say hello!
Once we’d seen him, so we made our first round of the buffet. There was an impressive selection of food out…
… although I was disappointed to see they had crab claws, but with no means of cracking them, which seemed a bit pointless.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how many vegetarian dishes they had out. There was pasta with red pesto, a vegetable lasagne, and something else that I forget now, along with two fish dishes, so I certainly wasn’t going to go hungry.
I started off with some appetisers…
… although it was a shame that the labelling wasn’t better, as I was put off trying a couple of items. They had stuffed salmon, but I didn’t know what it had been stuffed with, so I figured better safe than sorry.

It is nice to be home after a great and long vacation.
