Home is Where the Mouse Is TR (June 1 - 11, 2017) - Page 26 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love you mirror selfie shot! I really think it's cool that your sons play along. Mine would say "no way". Seems like a great night at DHS but too bad everyone and their brother were leaving the park with you.

AJ (Mr. Serious) doesn't play along, but the other two still do. Of course, it helps that they are both hams.
Look at me, posting updates 2 days in a week. I'm on a roll!!
June 6
There was no alarm today, as we had no morning plans. I woke up at 8:40ish and decided to do some laundry. I gathered all the stuff and headed out the door, only to realize I had forgotten my MB. I knocked for a bit and AJ finally opened the door. By now, they were all awake.
The laundry room was empty and as I entered I almost fell. I gathered myself and put the loads in. I sat by the pool and read and took notes.
After putting the clothes in the dryer, I headed back to the room. When I arrived, I saw the Mousekeeper in the room next door. I went inside and gathered all our used towels. I went outside as she was exiting the room next door and told her we wouldn't be needing her services today as we were planning to be in the room. I just asked for clean towels. She was so nice. She happened to speak Spanish and for some reason, automatically started speaking it to me. I have no idea if she heard me speaking in the room or if I look Hispanic to her. BTW, this also happened to me at Walmart where an employee spoke to me in Spanish. It's funny because I'm actually bilingual, but my husband is not and for some reason people look at him and assume he's American.
Anyways, I went back inside and everyone was wide awake and moving around. I wanted some coffee, so AJ and I went over to the food court. Since we were already there, we split a cinnamon roll and a cheese danish. I took some coffee back to the room for Arben. The other boys had some breakfast in the room.
I went back to the laundry room with Abniel to get our clothes. We took them back to the room, folded and put them away. Then, we went to the main pool. I think AJ stayed in the room, he's no fun. The water was super cold. The kids had fun going down the slide. I think Arben and I went in the hot tub for a bit too.
Outside our room
Also outside our room
Then it started to rain hard, so we headed back to the room. We all showered and rested for a bit.
We started getting ready for the evening and left the room at about 4:00 pm.
When we got to Epcot it was drizzling. AJ was chosen for some extra screening.
We started walking into the park and the soft drizzle turned into a full-fledged mini storm. Ugh! We put on our ponchos and continued our journey.
We were all hungry so we decided to skip our first FP. It was for Nemo, so no biggie. Of course, we never want to eat at the same place. Abniel and Adriel decided they wanted burgers, so I took them to Liberty Inn, ordered there food and left them settled, with instructions to meet up afterwards. Then Arben, AJ, and I headed over to Katsura Grill. All three of us had the Teriyaki Chicken combo. When we were done (Abniel and Adriel had already caught up with us), we decided to browse a bit in Mitsukoshi. We didn't buy anything there.
We kept on browsing and explored a bit in the Germany pavilion. Then we headed over to Figment for our next fastpass. After that was done, we went over to Mousegears (I love this store). AJ bought some popcorn there. We sat on some benches outside the store and waited while Arben and Adriel went for some Starbucks.
Soon it was time for our next fastpass, which was Frozen Ever After, so we made our way over there. We were on the ride in no time. It was such a cute ride. I sang along throughout the entire ride, much to my family's dismay.
Abniel doesn't look bored at all.
After the ride we decided to leave. I was having cramps, plus the boys were uncomfortable because their socks were wet. We got to the room and changed into our pajamas. At about 9:00, we decided we wanted pizza. I don't have it in my notes who actually went to buy it, but we eventually had our pizza fix. I imagine lights were out shortly after.
Steps today: 16,180 = 7.5 miles
** From this day on I took 0 notes. So I'm going to rely on my pictures and try to remember a couple of details. I'm hoping I finish this TR before going on my cruise next month.

What a relaxing morning! I love the pictures around the resort.
Your FEA photopass pic turned out nice! You were sitting in the exact same spot as me when we did that ride. Unfortunately, water splashed into the boat and got my seat all wet. Hope that didn't happen to you.
Sorry that it rained while swimming and then again at Epcot. Sounds like you all had the food selections that you wanted and enjoyed your time around the WS. How exciting that you're taking a cruise soon. Where are you going and what cruise line?

Good time at Studios with Sci-Fi dinner that everyone enjoyed. The food is good and the show is as well. Glad you were able to go on the GMR one last time before it closed. I feel the same as I got to in October, 2016. I will miss this attraction.
Nice time at the resort at the POR pool (except for AJ). Some fun in Epcot (except for the rain) with some good attraction experiences. Funny, that not everyone could agree where to go for lunch as it was split between Katsura Grill and Liberty Inn. The latter is pretty good, but not a fan in any way of Liberty Inn. In all my times to WDW I only ate there once and probably the worst food I've had in WDW. I compare it to the cafeteria food you get in school! Time for that place to go and they need a good eatery here as all the other countries around WS seem to have!
