Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Too bad the seminar was a bit empty as fuller makes it better. I've never done a wine seminar and have done four food oriented ones including the Italian lunch. I need to do a wine one on my next trip as not expensive. Nice with the fountains as one of my favorite things in all of Epcot! Especially at night when lit up for sure!
I'm pretty sure Luke O' mentioned that all three wines were available at Jiko's.

An Irishman making WINE! Sacreligious ! The Irish know how to make Whiskey Beer and Stout, but wine, That is like asking an Eskimo to grow sod. JMHO take it for what you paid for it

The wine seminar sounded good - and even better that all three wines were a hit for both you and Luke! I’ll have to see if I can find any of those at my local wine shop.
Wonder if it was empty because of the early start? I was surprised to hear it, as we never had luck booking a semi as - they were all sold out before I thought about it.

Glad you enjoyed the wine seminar. DH and I both hate any kind of wine. We were once given what we were told was a nice bottle of Merlot. We both took a sip, spit it out and poured it down the drain. I hate coffee too. Guess my taste buds never grew up.

I was surprised when I looked up the beverage seminars this year as all the ones in our time frame were for 11:15 while the culinary seminars were in the afternoon. The Festival Center only had one seminar area set up this year so beverages and culinary were sharing the same space. Our next beverage seminar will be sold out, so no idea what happened with this one.

He was very interesting and made getting a little wine education nice. I am usually shy, but I figured if I spoke first it might spark a conversation. It will later in the trip, but no today.

Luke and I don't like red wines, though we have drunk a few samples at these seminars. Today was the first red that we enjoyed. I hate coffee and tea of any kind. My taste buds think it's dirt.

World Travels

Monday, October 15, 2018 Part 3

When the water’s dance ended, we were back on track toward The Land. On our way, Luke pointed out a tree to me, saying look it has pink flowers. He was loving those new Oakley Prizm sunglasses.



Our goal at The Land was Soarin’. The FastPass queue was somewhat short with us not stopping until we reached the podium where guests are sent to the A, B, and C theaters. Follow along as we walk all the way through the queue with not a single sole in front of us. Cool!







In a few minutes we were lead to one of the theater lines and sent to Row 1. WooHoo! As we watched the pre-show, I did something I’ve never done before, took photos of every screen. With the new film, Luke and I still haven’t become accustomed to all the locations. I won’t bore you all with every single photo, but it was amazing how much we remembered after the ride this time. As we entered the theaters we were on one the sides, but we were all the way over to center, so a really nice view of the screen.








FastPass #2 was open as we finished our flight over the world, so we headed out of The Land and turned left, making our way to The Sea with Nemo & Friends. Once there we realized that there was absolutely no line. We walked right onto our clam mobile. Way to go!

Once we made our way out of the big blue, it was 1:00 and we were both hungry. Time to partake of the Food & Wine Festival. On our way Luke alerted me that a monorail was coming through, and with a quick turn, point and shoot, I captured it.



Our first stop was the Flavored from Fire food booth where we bought a Charred Chimichurri Skirt Steak which was served on a smoked corn cake with pickled vegetable slaw and cilantro aioli. Delicious! Then we followed that up with the Chocolate Picante, a dark chocolate mousse with cayenne pepper, paprika, and mango. We had tried this little dessert treat last year, and I had been pleasantly surprised that is was not too hot for me. We totally enjoyed it again.

Luke noticed the sign for the Light Lab that would be our next food booth. A nice bonus was that it was inside out of the heat. Nothing here appealed to me, but Luke got the 3 Daughters Brewing Blueberry Peppercorn Hard Cider and enjoyed it. We wandered into the Light Lab itself, but it’s not somewhere that we found entertaining. But we can now say, “been there, done that.”

I knew what I wanted next and the lead us to The Chocolate Studio for a glass of Banfi Rosa Regale Sparkling Red. So sweet!

Moving into the World Showcase properly, we found our way to the Canada food booth. Luke opted for the Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Soup served with a pretzel roll, a favorite of his. I also picked my favorite, the Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with a truffle butter sauce. We found a high top table in the shade and enjoyed our tapas. Before further explorations, we stopped at Refreshment Port for a couple of large cokes on ice. It was proving to be another hot day and we needed a nice quenching drink.

As we started to make a circuit of the World Showcase from the right, Luke asked if we could explore a little further in Canada, browsing the shops and spending a bit of time in the air conditioning. I usually like this shop, but I have never bought much, at least before today. I had forgotten to bring a jacket along today and was a bit concerned that I would be too chilly inside the restaurant during our dinner. But I hadn’t thought I’d buy a new one until I saw the cutest little jacket here. Then I found a pair of lounge pants with bears all over, and I love bears. And right beside the lounge pants were matching cozy socks with bears and another pair with mouse and a third pair of casual socks with mouse. A few steps and I found a pair of Muk Luk slippers with a bear design. Now seriously, we need to get out of this shop. I explain to the cast member at the registered that I really wanted to ship everything except the jacket to our resort, but I wasn’t sure if I could do that. She told me I most certainly could. Yeah! Now I could quit thinking about what to do if I got cold during dinner.





We moved on to the United Kingdom, browsing the shops here while we finished off our Cokes. As we came out of the first sets of shops, I noticed Mary Poppins, but I also realized that the line was already closed. Not too disappointing as I had seen in earlier in the trip at the Magic Kingdom. Somewhere in these wandering, Luke pointed out to me the “pink” flowers.



From the UK, Luke wanted to check out the construction on the Disney Skyliner and Ratatouille attraction. So, we made our way into the International Gateway area. I took several photos as I love looking over from the IG to see France. It does appear too that quite a bit of construction is going on back here.

Nice ride on Soarin' and I love the updated version so much more! I can't believe it was an easy walk in the FP+ line as I've never experienced that and unheard of! Some nice eats and experiences at the Festival. I had the filet in Canada a couple of years ago and was certainly one of my favorites! Just so much flavor!

You did some damage at the Canada shops. Cute bear and moose items. What did the jacket look like?

I remember being pretty underwhelmed by the Light Lab. Sounded cooler than I thought it was.

You sure lucked out with your lines! I am so jealous of all the shopping you've been able to do on your trip. That's something that I've never been able to do much of cause it's just not in the budget. Anymore I just feel guilty spending money on myself for anything, not just at WDW, so we just get our 3 granddaughters something and that's it. Looking forward to more!

What a wonderful idea to photograph the locations in the Soarin' pre-show. I don't think I've ever had a spot in line to allow me to do that. Normally we seem to be at the back of the line, although now I think about it, with my camera zoom, it should be possible...
