As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). You're way braver than me doing Manta! I've watched that many times and there is no way you'd get me on that thing.
I'm glad your first experience of Lyft worked out well for you.
It's a pretty intense rollercoaster and not for everyone! I'm glad my experience with Lyft went well and will use them again.

The story the Lyft driver told you shout his earlier fare that day was crazy! When he dropped you off at Sea World you could have joked that you wanted to be dropped off right in front of the entrance.
Enjoying my first time at SeaWorld so far. That was a bizarre story the Lyft driver told me. I wish I had thought of being dropped off at the entrance as a good one!

Great start at Sea World $15 for the pass is very reasonable. Glad you enjoyed the coasters, looking forward to the rest of your day.
I thought the pass was a good deal and went for it! A nice start to my day so far.

Well that was quite the woman your Lyft driver had to pick up earlier! Great start to your day at SW! Great job riding Manta!
That woman was a piece of work! Having a great time so far and enjoyed Manta for the most part but a little too much at times!

Great start to your day at Sea World! Manta wasn't there when I went to Sea World in 2006, but I would definitely like to try it out.
You should try one of these services and work rather well. That woman was something else according to my driver, but a classic story! Common sense isn't one of her strong points! Enjoying my time at SeaWorld and Manta was quite a thrill. I'm glad there are others who would try it here!

Already off to a super start at Sea World. Luke would enjoy those rides, but I'd rather not go on either.
I'm not at all surprised with Luke as I know he loves his coasters like I do and especially Expedition Everest, which is one of my favorites as well! Love the variety in EE with forwards and backwards in the two portions of the ride and always a priority of mine in every visit to the AK. EE is quite tame compared to Manta to say the least, especially being tilted forward in your seats, which was insane and scary but exhilarating at the same time! At times I couldn't wait until the ride was over but at the same time I loved it! Go figure! The other two coasters in SeaWorld will be not be for the timid as well! You'll find out in my next post!

My Nephews went on Manta as teenagers but it's not for me! I did go on Journey to Atlantis when we were there and it was mild and fun but Sea World did not have the $1 lockers then. Just another way to force people to pay more money . Still it sounds like you enjoyed your first 2 rides and the front of the line pass is a good deal at only $15.00.

I enjoyed my first two attractions and Manta definitely is quite intense! The lockers are a bit of a hassle and especially paying for them. Glad I went with the Quick Queue pass as it's been worth it.

We have a combo coaster/log flume at a tiny theme park in Oregon. Its the only one I've been on and I think it's really fantastic. Great concept. It feels fun to switch from one type of motion to the other.

It seems you enjoyed your time at Halloween Horror Nights. I enjoy watching scary movies but I do not enjoy being scared by live people.
You couldn't pay me enough money to ride Manta. And don't get me started on Kraken (which I assume you rode later on).

I had a great time for Halloween Horror Nights and taking the R.I.P. Tour was the way to go as I got to see and do pretty much everything!
Manta is quite an extreme coaster as are the other two there and you are right will be coming up.

I'm so happy that you a great Lyft experience (well, except for that obnoxious lady! Honestly!! ) and that you are enjoying your day so far at Sea World!!
Friday, October 6th (Part II) Next up was Antarctica-Empire of the Penguin, which was next door to Journey of Atlantis and quite convenient. Before entering the Quick Queue line, I explored the area for a while as there were some things to see.

I went inside the Expedition Café to check out the menu, but most of it didn’t appeal to me much. As I have big dinner plans later today, I didn’t want a large meal and most of the selections were large or combo meals. I know there are many other options in SeaWorld and I’d look for one after the Empire of the Penguin attraction.
I’m guessing that the flags represent those countries who have sent exploration teams to Antarctica.
I went over to the attraction, but had to ask where the Quick Queue line was as it wasn’t obvious. I went inside and first we entered a room to watch a film about Antarctica and its’ most famous inhabitants, the penguins. It was a short film but enjoyable.

After the movie, we entered another room to go on the attraction. I didn’t know what to expect on the first part of the attraction as there were three options. There was a mild version, a more intense one and could bypass this and walk down a hallway to see the penguins. There were quite a few people in this room and the line didn’t seem to be moving. I asked someone if they were sure this is the Quick Queue and it was! This line just saved you some time in entering the room for the film.
Unfortunately, they don’t let many people on the attraction at once and I think about 6-8 at a time. It was usually a few minutes between each time they let people in on the attraction. It was quite a wait and a good thirty minutes. I finally reached the beginning of the line and my turn for the ride. It wasn’t anything special and you get in a car and it spins and turns on a track. Sort of like a mild version of The Scrambler or Disney’s Teacups! I won’t do this again!
After exiting the ride, we entered another room, where we could view the penguins and the reason to experience this attraction! When I entered the room, it was quite cold in here and I certainly wasn’t dressed for this with a tee shirt and shorts. I just tolerated it as I wanted to see the penguins. It was quite special to see and plenty of coverage below!

As much as I was enjoying my time seeing the penguins, doing their thing and swimming in the water, the coldness inside here was starting to get to me! It's time to seek warmer areas and that meant outside! That’s what I did.
After this, I reached outside and the warmth felt like such a relief, after being in the cold for a while! I headed towards the Sharks area of the park where there are some sit down eateries and some food kiosks as well. I wasn’t looking for anything special and just a hotdog to hold me over until dinner.

I got my hotdog and had a Coke or Pepsi as well. It wasn’t cheap at all and I think it was nearly $10 for this. Funny, thing is that I got the last hotdog, so timing is everything! Otherwise, I would have had to wait another ten minutes. After enjoying this I did more exploring and mostly for photos.
I like these and looks like they’re for an upcoming Christmas display on the lake!
This had been my original plan for lunch as Cheryl had raved about her lunch here with Mark a couple of years ago! I had to nix it as I have a big dinner planned tonight with a couple of Passporters. If it was a late dinner, I could have done it, but it isn’t unfortunately. I guess, for another trip!
I went over to my next attraction, which is Mako and is another highly intense rollercoaster. It boasts being the tallest, longest and fastest coaster in the Orlando area. That’s certainly saying something! Before entering the Quick Queue line, I stored my belongings in another locker. That makes three times today and one more to go. I entered the Quick Queue and this time it worked to my advantage as opposed to the last attraction. I was near the front of the line and boarded rather quickly. There was a delay for some reason as we waited a couple of minutes before departing. It was intense to say the least and it begins by ascending a big hill and upon reaching the top it descends about 200 feet at a speed of 73 mph! It was a long ride and lasted a few minutes with lots of turns and thrills. I enjoyed this and more than Manta as not as scary but more thrilling, which I want!
I retrieved my items from the locker and sought out my last attraction for the day and yes it’s another coaster as I had to complete SeaWorld’s trifecta! In the meantime, I’m in the midst, of doing Orlando’s own trifecta!
As you can see from the signs, it’s an eight minute walk to Kraken. So, I headed in that direction. It was less than eight minutes and the first thing I did, was you guessed it, rented another locker! I was having problems with these here as I had to try several kiosks before I found one that worked properly! Somewhat of a hassle!
I entered the Quick Queue for this attraction and once again, I was near the front of the line. Here’s what I was getting into.

The good thing about these three coasters is that they’re all very unique. Kraken is a floorless coaster with seven inversions as well as many twists and loops. It’s the second longest floorless coaster in the world!
I got on the attraction after a couple of minutes and my last coaster adventure for the day. It was quite thrilling with all the inversions, loops, twists and turns. A great coaster but a little too intense at times with so many inversions! Overall, I liked it and my second favorite of the day next to Mako.
After my third coaster, I retrieved my things from the locker and this was it for the day. I enjoyed my first experience at SeaWorld, but wish I had more time to do other things here. If it wasn’t for my dinner out tonight, I could but a good tradeoff! I certainly plan to return to SeaWorld!
It was closing in on 3 pm and time to return to the Royal Pacific. I have an ADR with Passporters Her Dotness and His Drewness at Victoria & Albert’s at 6 pm and had to give myself ample time to get ready for this evening as well as take a Lyft over to the Grand Floridian.
I began to head towards the park exit and it was a bit tricky in finding it and had to ask someone where it was. Once I exited the park, I walked over to the area I was dropped off this morning and contact Lyft on my phone for a pickup. It took a while to communicate with Lyft as it seemed it was having trouble finding a driver. After a few minutes, it succeeded and my driver was on the way. I had to wait longer than this morning as he arrived in about ten minutes.
My driver arrived and his name is Leonardo. He was a good driver and we talked a bit but he wasn’t as talkative as my driver Christopher this morning. Soon, we arrived back at the Royal Pacific but Leonardo took a wrong turn in the resort and we wound up in the delivery zone behind the resort. He turned around and found the drop off area in front.
Once I exited the car, I paid for my fare, which was a bit more than earlier today as he had to turn around, but not much more. I left him a tip as well. I then returned to my room to get ready for my evening!
