Fall, Firsts, Food And The Final Frontier TR - UPDATED 11/11 - COMPLETE!! - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Nice shots of my favourite night-time show at Disney! As you know, I always get emotional when I watch it and I'm in pieces before we even get to "We Go On"....
Sounds like you had the perfect day and evening in Epcot! I didn't know about the special viewing area for Disney Visa holders but I will definitely check it out on my next trip!
Tell me more about this illuminations viewing spot?! What a long but wonderful day at Epcot!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not much to the spot, but you need a Disney Visa card to access it in the Italy pavilion. It projects a bit farther over the water a bit farther than the standard viewing areas. It's like the VIP area views in other areas like over in the UK and elsewhere. That's all I can describe it.
I had such a long and most memorable day which I enjoyed from beginning to end! Never a dull moment!

Great day! Too bad we were on opposite sides of Epcot as the next we met I had to rush off due to loosing my wallet☹️. Great pictures!
Yeah that was too bad as we couldn't meet that day but got to meet at least briefly a couple of days later. I remember the wallet issue and glad it was resolved happily, when you text me later!
Will you be going to WDW in October again? My dates are October 8-14 with latter being departure day.

I know how you are about Illuminations as it does it to me as well and especially making my way out of Epcot with that beautiful song playing!
Glad you like the photos. They were all done on my Galaxy 5. It's good for nighttime photos and served me well on this trip!

It was a phenomenal day and a long one from rope drop to closing which was crazy as only time I've ever been at any park from open to close! The VIP Visa area is definitely worth the view as it protrudes over the lake more. I just happened to run into it during the day.

Can't think of a better ending to any day at Epcot! Glad you enjoyed the photos as I felt they came out well for Illuminations!

I just happened to see the sign for this viewing area and you just present your Visa card to enter. Not sure if they do this always or perhaps maybe for the F&W Festival or just certain days? I'm sure we can find out more with some searching.

Dave we wont be back until oct 2019. We have an Alaskan cruise this year and next year we will be going back to Aulani. If you decide to do the festival in 2019 we should definitely try to meet again I will definitely miss going for 2 years but we will be having a lot of fun for both the trips planned. Enjoy and have some food and drink for me!
Your photos of Illuminations have me excited to finally see it again. We've been to Disney World literally dozens of times over almost 30 years and have seen this show a grand total of once. So looking forward to it!

Sounds like a couple of great trips and new experiences for the two of you, which I'm sure you'll absolutely enjoy! 2019 is two years away, so not planning now, but we'll see!

Illuminations is a must see at WDW and one of my favorite things about WDW! I can't believe you've only seen it once in your many trips! Glad you'll be seeing it shortly as it's such a great show! I'm happy I was able to inspire you with Illuminations!

I haven't seen Illuminations in several years now. I love your photos as they bring back so many memories. Though we have never done a rope drop I have to admit that staying until closing is one of my favorite things to do. I love getting those special shots of a nearly empty park. The evening lights are so beautiful.

You must return for Illuminations as it's my favorite WDW nighttime show and maybe overall show! Glad you like my photos of the show as I thought they came out well and there are a lot of them. I love closing down the parks and seeing the park as it is clearing out!

Tuesday, October 18th (Part I) I slept in a bit later than normal so far and got up at around 7:45 am. I have another active day in store, which is always the norm, when I go to Disney! After getting ready for my day, I went downstairs to The Pickup and got some breakfast, which was the standard coffee, pound cake and a yogurt. Nothing special, plus I don’t want to spend a lot of time for a sit down breakfast and would prefer to spend it in the parks.
After, finishing my breakfast in my room, I went downstairs to take the Disney Springs bus to the Magic Kingdom. I knew it was going to be close on making this bus as it was just past 9 am and they run close to the half hour. Unfortunately, I just missed it as I could see my bus just pulling into the Doubletree Suites next door. Now I had some time to waste and just returned to my room for a bit and finished up some of my trip notes from yesterday.
Next time, I got downstairs in time and my bus arrived at 9:35 am. After a quick stop at the Doubletree Suites for a pickup, I was on my way to the Magic Kingdom via the Ticket and Transportation Center. We arrived at 9:50 am. It was much quieter here than normal, especially with the monorail traffic, but not today.
I decided to take the ferryboat to the MK, which would be a first for me! Now, why haven’t I done this before? Even, when I stayed at the Poly back in 2009 I never did this as it was a five minute walk from my longhouse. I guess, I just preferred taking the monorail as that was even closer as the Grand Ceremonial House was next door. So, quite convenient!
When I got to the dock, there wasn’t a ferry there but I could see one of them approaching and it would be just a few minutes. In the meantime, I took some photos.
Our ferry just before boarding
It was only a short wait until we boarded and within five minutes we were on the short cruise to the Magic Kingdom. I made sure to capture a lot of the great scenery on the way.
Love the new bungalows at the Polynesian, but then again there is the cost to stay in one of these!
The Contemporary Resort, where I enjoyed a memorable brunch two days ago at the California Grill!
Arrival at the dock with a familiar and welcoming sight!
And another!
I disembarked the ferry at around 10:15 am or a bit earlier. Once again as I’m a solo traveler to the MK I was chosen once again for extra screening at security! So, I guess this is what they call being the recipient of Disney Magic? It went quick and soon I began my trek towards Fantasyland.
Arrival in Fantasyland and The Beast’s Castle
I decided to take a walk over to 7 Dwarves Mine Train and see how long the wait was. It was not even 10:30 am and already a 70 minute wait! Well, this won’t be happening on this trip. I guess, next year with some luck!
My first FP+ for the day was already ripe and I made my way over there for that as this one would be a first for me.
Love this waterfall, which adds so much to the theming of this attraction
The wait time for this was listed at twenty minutes and once I got inside there was a good size line. Once I arrived in the boarding area I pretty much got right on. You are in a clamshell, just like with Nemo in Epcot. It was a good ride although, nothing special.
After exiting the attraction, it was on to Adventureland for my next FP+ for the day at 11 am and Jungle Cruise, which is always a favorite. Especially, for the corny humor by the skipper.
There was quite a line for standby and not exactly sure how long, but looked like quite a wait. For the FP+ line, I think it was about a ten minute wait. There was somewhat of a delay due to all the traffic on the river. Once, we were boarded I enjoyed it as much as ever and we had a very good and entertaining skipper. This always makes it a better experience as some are better than others. It took us a while to arrive back due to the traffic.
Once we arrived and disembarked I had some time before my next activity of the day, which would be a new dining experience for me. I did a bit of walking around just to make the time go.
It was 11:45 I walked towards to the destination for my 11:55 am ADR for lunch, which wasn’t too long of a walk.
NEXT: The Reviews Have Been Mixed, So Will I Enjoy It?
