As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Pooh is always one we don't want to skip. It is one I think we have done every trip together and she always likes it.
I was so happy to find the bucket that night and not have to worry about getting one on another day and carrying it around.

Today was an Extra Magical Hours evening, but we were no longer onsite guests. I had heard that at this point in time if you had a band on they pretty much let you stay since off site people didn’t have an option to get bands back then. I heard some rides would scan the band, but for the most part they didn’t. I had debated on trying it….BUT I was tired, Claire was tired, and it was still fairly busy and I just didn’t want to hassle with even trying it out, so we decided it was time to work our way out of the park.

We did stop for a photopass shot.
One thing I had noticed all night was that the castle was not changing colors like it normally does at night. I am not sure if that was because the moats are drained or with the work on the actual castle being done while we were there, but as we reached the front I noticed it changed….and the kiss goodnight was being done. I didn’t realize that they did this on nights when they had EMH’s.
We watched a little bit of that and then headed out for the monorail, which was crazy, but luckily the resort monorail wasn’t too bad…and our car was still at the Poly from our breakfast earlier that day.
We made it back to the Poly and headed towards our POC car.
We programmed Siri once again to get us back to the Marriott and took off. I don’t like driving in the dark in unfamiliar places and until we got away from the area I was a little tense. So much traffic and crazy drivers makes it hard for someone who doesn’t know the area very well. We did make it back in one piece though and I think Claire dozed off while I drove us. We had more issues finding a parking spot tonight and had to park in a lot further away from our building, but it wasn’t too bad and then we headed back to the room and got right to bed. Once again I watched the coverage of the missing plane and still nothing was found…of course each day there was new theories, but nothing ever panned out. I set the timer on the TV and dozed off to dreamland.
I used my 30mm lens...ISO 3200....exposure 1/80....aperture 1.4. That lens can catch some good stuff if I remember that it can got to 1.4. LOL Half the time I forget to reset it to that.
I have a 35mm f1.8 lens. Not quite as fast as yours. So I am only a half stop slower. Lets see, the next step up in ISO would be to 6400 so I should be able to hold the shutter speed at the 1/80 to 1/100 range. Now, for the real question, "How did you focus?" Did you go Manual and use a preset distance or did you turn the focus ring to get it in focus in the split second that you were passing the scene? I don't think that auto-focus would work since there are no obvious edges. Did you try the hitch hiking ghosts or the ghost in the buggy scenes?

Glad you were able to find your Dumbo popcorn bucket and sounds like you made the right call leaving when you did! I personally don't like driving around Disney property and I do know my way around, just so many people don't it's always a mess!
I'm not surprised you guys were tired - it was a pretty packed day!

I usually use autofocus. As long as it has some light it will capture it. I took a lot of really bad pictures on the ride though. I tried the ghost in August, but they didn't turn out too great. I am just never fast enough to do a manual focus.

I just hate being "that" driver that everyone is mad at for not knowing her way around.

You got some pretty awesome photos on the Winnie the Pooh ride. I always try, then I get these blurry shots and eventually give up.
I always try to avoid exiting the park with the masses. I don't want to be trampled.
Thanks. I have tried many many times and sometimes I get them, sometimes i don't. It's almost impossible to do though for most of the ride without using manual camera settings.
