Holy Great Movie Ride (April 5 - 10)! TR Begins - COMPLETE!! 6/8 - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great start at DHS. How cool that you finally got to try the cowboy side, we have been waiting and waiting and finally on the last trip the cars broke off and we....got the gangster side, we even tried going on again that day but by then they were only doing the gangster side so another trip with no cowboy. I have heard others also say they liked the gangster side better but I would like to see the other side just once
Love your wristlet, one of those is on my list for August. I am saving up for my purchase, the kids say I never buy myself anything but I am going to rectify it this trip.
So I left us off at us heading to use our RnRC fastpass. We had stopped into some of the shops on Sunset Blvd. and on the way to RnRC I spotted this which I HAD to get a picture of
It’s Cagney!
Okay, back on track here… we got to RnRC and as we were heading in Brandi called to let us know she was here. We texted some to figure out where to meet. I had said the Tune In Lounge but she wasn’t sure where that was ! WHAT? So we ended saying we’d meet at the exit to RnRC. We headed on in and lucked out by getting the very front row on the ride Okay, don’t too soon my friends…. We got strapped in..and sat, and sat…..and sat some more… WTH? Next thing you know, the system has shut off. You know how you can feel it under your rearend when it stops running? Or is that just me? Anyway, we sit and sit some more. And then the lights come on. Whoa. Not cool. Sitting and waiting to shoot out at 60 mph on a huge piece of machinery that’s having issues is NOT cool. No worries though. Evidently the waiting car ahead of us had a big chicken on it who freaked out at the last minute and wanted off. So they had to stop everything to get them off, and then restart everything back up. Geez. You watched that thing shoot out at least 3 times while you were in line and NOW you decided you can’t do it? Oh Brother.
So finally we were up and running again and before we knew it, we were flying through doughnuts and drippy tacos. Fun times my friends.
We came out wondering if Brandi thought we’d fallen out on the ride, lost forever in the dark abyss that is RnRC. We searched for her and couldn’t find her. We looked all over the RnRC area, but she was nowhere… she gave up on us! How long had we been stuck in there?? Wait, there she was, right outside the entrance to the RnRC section, just chilling, NOT answering her cell BTW After telling our tale (possibly making it more extreme sounding than it had been) we headed over to the Tune In b/c Brandi was hungry and we always enjoy a at the bar there. We sat at the bar and had that same bartender we’ve had in the past. I can’t remember his name now, but he’s always there, and he’s always a fantastic bartender. Tall, skinny guy, short short grayish hair… anyone? anyone?
After a relaxing break at the Tune In (turkey sandwich for Brandi, Stella for Andy, and two Pomegranate Splashes for me due to peer pressure from my friends, family, AND Mr. Bartender) we headed out to do some drarwing. We had to wait a bit and finally got to go in and we scored front row seats. There was a kid in there that, in the beginning, it was cute that he laughed at EVERYTHING the lady said, but after awhile, it was annoying… And all I’ve got to say is WHIPPED CREAM! It’s a secret
After drarwing (PIGLET! PIGLET MIND YOU! I HATE PIGLET! SO I was totally annoyed by my drawing. It was the worst it’s ever been and probably b/c it was Piglet. Andy signed his as “breakfast” ) After drawing we went on the Great Movie Ride again. Andy brought up the fact last night that I got all outta control when Cagney slammed that grapefruit in that girl’s face during the movie clips at the end But I couldn’t help it! AND, we got the cowboy scene AGAIN! Never before in the bajillion times we’ve ridden it, have we gotten the cowboy scene, and now today, we’d gotten it TWICE!
Before heading out we wanted to go back and get a picture with the Singin’ in the Rain umbrella to commemorate the Holy Great Movie Ride Trip
After a full morning at DHS we made our way on the Baker Bus back to Pop to rest up and meet Pom for an evening at the Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned!

After getting back to Pop with Brandi we all crashed for a bit, resting up for our evening at the MK. Tom showed up after a bit and after I got ready we made our way out.
First on the agenda at the MK was FOOOOOOD! We were hungry and it had been more than 3 hours since we fed the Disney stomach. Well, more than 3 hours for one of us… Another one of us (I won’t say names but it has 4 letters and those letters are a, n, d, y) went to fill up the mugs and came back with a chocolate muffin for himself and NOTHING for anybody else.
We mosied down Main Street, heading for Frontierland so we could eat at Pecos Bills.
At Pecos Bills I was torn between a burger and the bbq. I decided to go with the new angus cheeseburger so I could fix it up at the fixin’s bar. Andy did the same and after piling on some tasty fixin’s we found a seat for all of us. I had wondered if they’d be doing the new system of making folks wait till everyone had food, but I saw no CMs doing this. Wonder if it’s just for lunch? Because this was a busy time… Don’t know.
We all enjoyed our meals. I just love having the cheese to dip my fries in And somehow we ended up with a cookie a piece. Not sure how that happened. Andy and I ended up using one of the self pay kiosks.. we used the touch screen, placed our order, and paid. Easy breezy. Not sure if somehow I added a cookie or if they misread our order. I don’t know. But that cookie got saved and enjoyed as a great snack by the pool the next day
During dinner Tom let Andy in on a little secret that Andy was unaware of. They sold Wonka Bars next door at the candy shop. It was settled. That’s where we were going next because Andy was all excited about having his own gold foil wrapped Wonka Bar.
Alas, there was no golden ticket inside.
After our candy shopping we all headed over and walked right onto Pirates. Afterwards we somehow got separated…not sure how, I just remember saying we’d meet back at the Jungle Cruise. Anybody remember why we split up? Was it to check FPs at BTMRR? I have no idea. Anyway, once we met back up at Jungle Cruise, we hopped on board. We ended up getting on board first with Tom (Tom comes in very handy sometimes) and I ended up sitting right beside our skipper, who was OUTTA CONTROL. We rode twice this trip and both times we had fantastic skippers.
We tried to play with Shrunken Ned’s Jungle Boats but Andy’s was stuck and he never got it out of the pack of other boats. Meanwhile, my boat did laps around the pond
After our Adventureland fun we made our way over to our beloved Haunted Mansion. I rode with Tom Baker this time which was a fun ride through with our ghost host. I try so hard to look at everything in the attic but I just feel like I miss so much each time.
Next up was Fantasyland. We started by saying we’d break down and ride It’s A Small World After All but as we were going up the handicap entrance, we rounded the corner to see a large mass of grossness on the floor. Yes, some kid had all he could take of It’s a Small World, and left a little present behind to show it. I guess he couldn’t hold in all his ice cream and sugar he’d had all night. And let me just say that NONE of us could walk past that… it was super gross.. and the look on Tom’s face made me wanna pee my pants. From that moment on that ride is now known as “It’s a Large Vomit After All”.
Instead of It’s a Large Vomit we opted for Peter Pan b/c with Tom, we don’t have to worry about that constant 45 minute wait that ride seems to have. We did A LOT of Fantasyland this night. We rode Winnie the Pooh, we rode Snow White’s Scary Adventures, we saw Mickey’s Philharmagic, we rode the Carousel, and Andy and I did the tea cups. I was amazed after the fact at how much we did!
Pictures from Fantasyland:
Now we were entering Tomorrowland and just to make Andy happy we rode the Indy Speedway. We were sure to ask for a right hand drive just so we could pretend to be British (again with the British obsession…) This was actually a bad idea because halfway around I think we all realized that holding that heavy pedal down with our left leg was a baaaaad idea I keep having to slow down because I was having to slide my foot back fully on the pedal and hold my leg down with my hand
Waiting for his car…
While one is in Tomorrowland, one must stop and enjoy a cream cheese pretzel. So we did We sat and relaxed and ate. Man I could go for one of those right now.
Next up was the TTA. Even though it makes us sad It’s still a nice, relaxing trip around Tomorrowland.
Last on our whirlwind trip through the MK was Buzz Lightyear. I swear. I SUCK at Buzz. I just can’t figure out where my laser is shooting and I let Andy be in control of the direction because I can’t multitask evidently but in the end I get ticked b/c he sets himself for better shots…. Yeah…that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Everyone was more than pooped at this point so we made our way out. I was praying that we wouldn’t be forced through the “back door” like in November. I have blocked that moment from my mind. And thank goodness, we were able to exit like normal human beings.
The Bakers took us back to Pop and we called it a night. Tomorrow morning was a morning at the AK.
Well, after reading that update I am now glad that It's a Large Vomit will be closed for refurb when we are there in Sept. Hey, maybe that's why they are shutting it down. I am going to have to try one of those cream cheese preztels too. I don't think I've ever had one!!

Great update! Sorry about It's a small world! How gross...Last time we were there we saw the same thing...I don't get it it is a slow moving ride...I could see it after one of the thrill rides but that...Who knows??? Can't wait for more!
Great updates! Sorry about the shutdown on RnRC, but at least it was because of a mechanical problem. And I can't blame you for not wanting to ride IASW. That's gross!

Awesome updates! I don't get how someone got sick at It's a Small World. Maybe they got seasick on the boats? I loved the pics from Fantasyland especially the Tea Cup picture.
Let me tell you why all of these people get sick on "It's a Large Vomit"...
BECAUSE IT'S "IT'S A SMALL WORLD", the worst ride ever!!! Sorry, folks, got stuck on it once in high school for darn near an hour. NOT a good experience.
I will post my pics of this fun-filled day later this evening.
