The Will We/Won't We Pretrip/Trip Report - COMPLETED 8/15!! - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We got up and my cold was pretty bad, but I wasn't going to let it stop me. We headed out to DHS for rope drop and for me to take Lauren on RNRC for the first time. My DM and Maddie were going to head over to TSMM to try and get FP.
After rope drop everyone took off. It was so funny because everyone was pretty much going the same way. Lauren and I power walked over to RNRC. We waited about 15 minutes for our limo ride. I kept giving her the chance to back out, but she was having none of it. We got in our limo and made our ride to the concert. She absolutely loved it. She said the next trip we are riding it more than once.
I really don't remember much else about what we did there. I know we stayed until noon, before heading back to the resort.
We had an ADR at Y&Y at 4:15, but my cold was so bad I knew there was no way I was going to make it to AK and back. I went to Olivia's to see if they could accomodate us for dinner and they could, so I changed our ADR.
We had a wonderful dinner at Olivia's. My dad and I both had the prime rib and it was yummy. My mom had the Fettecini alfredo. I don't remember what the girls had.
Then I had the most delicious strawberry shortcake. We were definitely impressed with Olivia's.
We ended up going to DTD by boat and walked around for a little bit until I couldn't take anymore. It was so cool going from OKW to DTD at night. We walked around and did some last minute shopping since the next day was departure day.
We went back to the room and crashed.
Next up: I don't want to go home, but I feel like crap!
I have no idea how I missed this TR until now. I'm sorry I did, I love it. Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. You have a beautiful family by the way. Great pictures too. I can't wait for the next update. Sorry you weren't feeling well though.
wow updates!! YAY! sorry about the cold and ohana! We really enjoyed our food there but we did not have that experience for sure! sorry about that!
I hope that you had a good time despite the cold...that can turn things into a hassle when you feel sick
More great updates! Sorry about the wait at 'Ohana, and for your cold!!
Thanks Marnie.

I didn't figure anyone would still be following along, let alone read it from the beginning now! Thanks so much and I think you have a beautiful family too and I am enjoying your TR immensely.

I was not about to let it stop me from enjoying my trip. I am sad that I let it get to me and cancel Y&Y. I was really looking forward to that one. We are not doing the DP in Dec, so it will have to wait for another trip.

It was just on overall disappointment and I love that place. I will give it a few trips and maybe try it again. I just seem to have bad luck when we go there. Hopefully that will change.
We got up and got everything packed up and loaded in the car. Our plans were to head out to MK for our final day. Our flight was at 5:35 so we had plenty of time to enjoy one last park.
We got to the park and the girls needed to get wet I guess.
Then we headed to POTC when we came out these guys were doing a meet and greet so we had to get in line.
I know we made our way around to HM and then BTMRR and then we had lunch at Casey's. The girls were a bit grouchy and Maddie and I had a little tiff over what we were eating. She didn't want a hot dog or corn dog nuggets. I told her tough, she would eat it or starve.
We then went to Tomorrowland for our final ride of the day, the TTA. It seems to have become a tradition for us.
I got the pic of my DM&DD that I have gotten for the last 2 trips.
We headed back to the resort and stopped by the gift shop to use our 9 snack credits for snacks for the plane. Then we loaded up and headed to the airport.
We get to the airport in plenty of time and we all take potty breaks. We visit a little longer and I decide we better get through security. I get our tickets out and go to get my driver's license out of my back pocket and it is gone!!!! What!!! My DD goes back out to the car to see if it is in the seat. He comes back empty handed and I start having a panic attack. They aren't going to let me on the plane!!! I am in tears and I head over to the information desk and tell the lady what I am missing. She asked if I was Elizabeth Ward and I said yes. She said someone had found it in the bathroom and had turned it in. She said they paged me, but you know how that sounds at MCO. You can't understand anything. So I had to go to lost and found to retrieve it.
I said my goodbyes to my mom and dad and we headed through security.
Our flight was uneventful and my DS was waiting on us when we got off. We found the car and headed to her house. We were staying the night with her and my DH was picking us up the next day.
We stopped for some dinner because we were starving. I took about two bites of my hamburger and thought I was going to lose it. This cold was at its peak. I think it lasted another week after I got home.
We had a great time and OKW was just beautiful. I would love to stay there again. If I ever bought into DVC, it would probably be my home resort and it is one of the cheaper ones to buy into too.
I hope to start my PTR for my December trip in a couple of weeks. Until then....
