Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! I was a bit behind but love the zoo pics! I havent been to the zoo in forever! I love the meerkats...they are always my fav and the seals as well!!!!
I think that cake sounds so yummy! I cant believe how much you guys are getting paid off and how far along you are in the planning..its slowly coming together.
I think you will the dolphin excursion. Its something I want to do but could never afford the spulrge, you will have to show us pics of it all!
BTW, i'm on facebook too....you def need to add me
Hope you are all enjoying your Easter weekend! : )
I just love Easter! Too bad that this year Easter marks the END of my Spring Break! But I just keep telling myself that I only have 11 weeks left this school year!
In any case, as for the wedding updates... this might seems a little redundant to all of my facebook or challenger friends but here is whats been going on in the world of wedding planning:
**We finished our Pre-Cana classes and met with out Priest! We are now squared away moneywise with the church as well! We don't need to go back to the church until the rehearsal! The second Pre-Cana was much more boring than the first but our meeting with the priest was wonderful! One of my students even asked to be the alter server for our wedding! How cute is that?
**This week Rob and I also picked out our wedding bands and purchased them. I am really excited about this! I keep sneaking peeks at mine! Rob had to special order his to get his size so I will post a picture of them both after we pick his up! This is the first time, in all the jewelery I have gotten in the last 8 years, that we went to the store together to pick them out! It was SUCH fun!
**So with the church details done, and as you know the honeymoon all squared away, we have moved on to reception plans. First thing on the list was my dress. After trying it on early in the week I realized that I needed to go back and try a smaller size. The girl at David's Bridal in Danbury was a total bi-otch about the whole thing BUT in the end I exchanged for a smaller size and they even had it in stock in the store for me to exchange it right there! I did however, write a letter of complaint when I got home. I am still angry at the fact that she took that away from me-- the excitement of losing enough wieght to need a smaller gown!!!
**With the wedding gown done, and our appointments set for the hairdresser and my preview set and everything we moved on to some smaller details. We got the candle holder and candles to put on the tables. We also MADE ALL THE FAVORS!!! Keep in mind the set up of the tables with the centerpieces being the flower arrangements with the lemon slices in them (I posted a picture a while back), and a few small candle holders as well! Basically my mom made all the lemon and lime soaps then I found this awesome quote from Mother Theresa and we incorporated the silver ribbon to bring in the color accent (girls are wearing green and carrying green and yellow hydrangeas, and wearing silver shoes and the guys vests are silver as well)!
"Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand."
There is a woman locally who orders wedding accessories for a significant discount who we are going to see next week. We are going to order these place card holders from her-- we are going to get yellow ribbons that say in green "Robert & Melissa" on one side and "July 24, 2009" to tie around them so they can be an additional favor since it will double as a mini frame and I am going to send pictures with our thank yous!
So what's next? Well, by the end of the month we will have the money put away for the Photographer payment that is due in June AND the one due on wedding day. By the end of my school year we should have the photographer money completely squared away! Which is pretty awesome! We are super saving though because I also want to take a Master's class this summer and they are hella expensive!
We still need to print the invitations, assemble them, print the programs, and print the table numbers. We also need to finish shopping for bridal party gifts, finish up our registries, and get the bows for the church as well as the little incidentals like cameras for the tables, bubbles, and all those smaller details (we may get some of them when we go see that lady Melinda this week actually). After that its the meeting with the photographer and DJ about our vision for the day as well as making a timeline.
Almost down to 3 months away! The excitement is building in me daily!!! : )
Okay so I know I did this backwards but I started typing before I realized on I never replied to the next wave of posts from my last update!

Oh the money stress is not a distant memory at all! LOL! Rob was laid off a few months ago, remember? I mean, really we have never been so tight but we have grown accostomed to our date nights being Saturday HBO premieres with popcorn or Blu Ray rentals! lol! I really want to have a good chunk of change for shopping! Heres hopping for some great coupons and grocery store deals to help me sock away some money! lol! : )

Can't a guy get some privacy around here? Sheeesh!
I actually felt really bad for the giraffes because they couldnt be outside during the cold weather and their indoor habitat looked a little boring and plain. The giraffes at AK really do have it made!

I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in AGES! I would love to go in April when we are in NYC for a few days.
You guys should certainly check out the zoo! There will be a lot more open by then like the butterfly area and the skyfari! And thanks for the compliments! I am trying so hard to lose wieght! I actually just started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and let me tell you that her 25 minute workout is more intense than ANYTHING Ive done since last summer when I started my wieght loss plan!

Not long now...the time will fly!
How was your baby's trip to the zoo?? Did he go already?? I am so jealous of your Little Mermaid tickets by the way! lol!
But I could not be more excited to marry my best friend and then just a few days later swim with dolphins! : )

No job for Rob yet. : (
He has applied and interviews but nothing quite yet. Thanks for asking though! He is attending a job fair this wednesday but who knows. I am perpetually positive so I dont really dwell on it, just remind him that everything will work out and he will find something.
And after all this planning and all you guys help and opinions I will surely be posting wedding and honeymoon pictures! I will have the rights to my pictures as part of our photog package so you will get the good ones! ; )

I am like a saving fiend these days. I didn't even know I had it in me and I am uber organized. I decided that our next venture is a Mac. If I can set it up so we are on schedule to save thousands of dollars for our wedding we can surely save $1500 this fall! lol! ; )
I absolutely LOVE the favors and the place card holders. Your theme of green and yellow is spectacular!! I can't wait to see pictures of the whole room and how everything turns out on your day. (wish I could be a little fly on the wall) And what a beautiful quote.
And what a B#$^ch at David's. You were so right in sending a letter. That is AWESOME that you needed a smaller size and don't let her take any of that away, you deserve to feel proud and happy about it!
Yes, he went this week with his holiday camp. Of course he went on Wednesday when it SNOWED . And was indoors at the NJ Aquarium on Thursday when it was beautiful out. But, he still had a blast. Kids just don't feel the cold like we do. I can't wait to take them both to see Little Mermaid.

Awwww that was sweet! I can't believe people can be so rude. I sent an email to the costumer service center online. Here's hoping she doesnt treat anyone else like that! Regardless, I am feeling better about downsizing now that my anger at her has subsided! lol!
