Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Phew - all caught up again with your update and the bonus update - I your new flooring and the story about the wall colors and your family.
I live roughly four hours from my family...my mom started laughing when they came down to help us move into our house. We'd both chosen the exact same color for our living rooms (Coffee by Eddie Bauer). I'd also painted my kitchen Celedon green and have an accent wall of dark forest green that runs from the living room into the kitchen. She'd just purchased Celedon paint for her kitchen. The final laugh came over labor day when we were all swimming at my Aunt's house...we'd brought our towels (Mom, Me, Aunt Karen, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Norma and Aunt Colleen). We'd all been to Kohl's and picked up the exact same towels
So glad that a bus FINALLY came to take ya'll to the Magic Kindgom! What a wait - though I love the pictures and can hear her asking when the bus would be there. I think she sounded like my Dad while he was waiting with my mom for the DTD bus, and I was waiting with my family for a bus to DHS.
I have to admit the bus situation has me a bit worried since we're staying at the Beach Club!

Poor Morgan...it's really no fun waiting when you want to get to MK, but she held up really well. Too bad everything was going against you guys when it came to getting that photo. And you're house looks great...love the new floors.

Great update! Love the Move It, Shake It Parade (I can hear the music in my head right now!). Sorry it took so long to get to the MK. It's hard for little ones to wait for anything, but I have to admit I would be chomping at the bit too!!! Your home is lovely. It has a very lived-in, warm, comfy look that I love.
nice updates. Great new flooring lots fabo! Poor Morgan the waiting is the hardest part. At least she is old enough to understand that certain things had to be taken care of and didn't go into a melt down.
Your house is decorated beautifully.
Poor Morgan. I remember our first trip. We got in really late and the girls and I just wanted to go to the parks. I think our second trip was that way too.
I just got all caught up with your TR. You are such an inspirational writer and I know Stefanie is with you and Luke on this journey. It's wonderful that you were able to take Morgan on this trip with you and continue some of the family traditions that you shared with Stefanie. The goodie bags for the flight attendants is such a wonderful idea and I remember how much Stefanie enjoyed handing them out. Your view was absolutely stunning from your balcony at The Boardwalk. It must have been so nice to wake up and see that view each morning! The first day sounded a little frustrating between the ME bus ride to the PP photo but it sounds like your evening got a lot better. On another note, your home is so beautiful and your decorating is so warm and inviting! Looking forward to reading more.
The delays were really only frustrating poor Morgan as Luke and I were used to it. But learned and adapted quickly. Stefanie was with us in spirit the whole way, but it was difficult not to have her with us physically. for the compliment on our home.

Coming up in the next update for meal one!

Your new floors look great! I bet you're thankful that that project is completed. I always find with big projects that I love the results, but hate the process.
I'm with you on hating the process, but loving the results. I am thankful to relax now from big projects.

Glad her first flight was good. We had a lot of long waits for a bus on our last trip and we had that same sad face. I would have been just like her when yall were at the park but still not able to ride anything! Looking forward to more trip report. Your home is beautiful! Every room is warm and inviting.
The next update will finally have some adventures for Morgan.

This is a repeat comment, but I will tell you again anyway! I love your home! The colors and the decor are beautiful!! You really have done a wonderful job making it look and feel like the AKL! The new bookshelves are beautiful!
Now, I do want to tell you that I feel bad that the gift I sent you was kind of repeat of another you gift you recieved! The stained glass Tink wind chimes are beautiful! I guess I never thought that someone else would send you Tink wind chimes!
I look forward to reading what everyone ate at the Plaza! I love eating there!
I don't think of the gift as a repeat because the two look so different. I'm quite fond of all Tinker Bell gifts right now.
Just finally getting caught up and I have to say....I just smile from ear to ear looking at Morgan and her expressions on this adventure. What a ray of light to have with you on this particualr trip! Well excpet for the waiting of the bus
I am in awe of your organized scrapbooking room. Your house looks lovely. I love your standing cadle holders and giraffes . I can't wait for a time when I can add my pretty little standing candle holders back into our house.....too many little ones at the perfect height to be pulling them down
Can't wait for you all to see her face in the next update's photos.
I didn't get the tall giraffes or standing candle holders until Stefanie was old enough to leave them alone.

Your TR is very enjoyable. We stayed at the BWI last year (and will be there again this October), and that was my one complaint. The buses seemed to take forever, and always for the park we wanted to get to!
I'll remember that offer. I was wondering if this was typical for BWI buses.

That is so neat that you and so many of the ladies in your family have the same taste. I don't remember having the bus issue at Beach Club.

Thank goodness she didn't have a melt down! She even remained optimistically cheerful in spite of being frustrated.

Next: A Close Encounter with Some Aliens and Not Alien Characters Question: Do we ever get that PhotoPass photo on Main Street with the Castle in the background?
When the parade finished, Morgan began looking at hats at a kiosk. My phone buzzed! A text from Heather popped up saying, “Look across the street.” I didn’t just look, I ran. She gave me the biggest hug and well, I cried, but not much. I introduced her to Morgan and shortly after Luke arrived. We made plans to meet back up after dinner. Heather went off to Pirates of the Caribbean, and we, finally after another wait, snagged a PhotoPass photographer. We don’t have our PhotoPass CDs yet, so I can only post the photos he took with our camera.
Luke also got our first two castle shots.
Next task was to check in at The Plaza (6:15). Five minutes later our pager buzzed and we were seated at a three-top while Daniel took our drink orders. I think Luke swallowed his Coke in one gulp. Then Morgan practically did so, too. The day was very hot and humid! We ordered dinner with Luke picking the Plaza Club with fries and Morgan selecting the chicken sandwich with very chewy mozzarella and fries. I opted for the tuna salad with fries. I finished most of it, but found it too fishy for my taste. I fix my own with lots of dressing. Morgan waiting for the food to arrive.
Dinner wrapped up about 5 minutes before our FastPass return time for Space Mountain, but after a bathroom break and the walk we were good to go. Morgan was shaking she was so excited. She also loves passing up all the people in the standby line. Another 2 thumbs up! She loved it! Waiting in line
I told you two thumbs up!
Now that is a happy girl!
While in our short wait, Heather and I had set up for her to meet us at the exit. With Heather along our next adventure was Buzz, showing a 20 minutes wait, but it felt shorter though I didn’t time it. Heather beat us all! I honestly think I get worse on this ride every year.
Heather’s score:
She put herself in her of her own volition!
Since we exited right at the entrance to Carousel of Progress, I suggested it for our next adventure. I will always love this one even though on this trip, someone in one of the other rooms, kept prompting the CMs to interrupt and remind us all to stay in our seats. We followed CoP with the People Mover, which didn’t impress Morgan much, but I love it. The plan was to ride Stitch afterwards, but then Morgan saw Astrorbiter lit up and insisted on it next. Heather and I gladly let her and Luke take on this new adventure without us. We went shopping instead. Last year I couldn’t find a single new photo frame that I wanted, but this year in my first shop I found five. J But I didn’t make any purchases yet.
Luke attempted this one while on the ride. I think it turned out pretty cool!
Astrobiter was taking a while, so I asked Heather to help me stake out a good spot for Magic, Memories, and You as our spot last year had been disappointing. We trekked to the Rose Garden and found a spot just slightly to the right. Very nice! J I sent Luke a text with our location and he found us when he saw Morgan’s cute Vera Bradley backpack on Heather’s back. She was such a sweetheart to keep me from carrying two backpacks. Our chosen spot was wonderful as I could finally see all the details. The spot was also wonderful for Wishes with Tinker Bell flying directly over our heads. I knew Wishes would be tough as it was Stefanie’s favorite. I shed some tears, especially at the end, but I can still love the fireworks and hear Stefanie singing along. I even announced Jiminy Cricket, the Genie, and the Blue Fairy just as she always did. Before Wishes started, Kurt(Holley) had asked for our plans after Wishes so her and Holley could meet us. Morgan chose another roller coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. After Wishes we were like four salmon swimming upstream. Very slow! I had Luke’s hand and Morgan’s arm, and kept checking on Heather. We finally made it after another restroom break. When we finally met Kurt and Holley, I received two more great hugs. We planned to meet up on Tuesday.
Big Thunder Mountain is awesome at night. We only had a 15 to 20 minute wait which I used to catch up with Heather on her move and her Mom. Another 2 thumbs up! By now it was after 11:00, so I asked to shop one side of Main Street and then head home. I was really just getting ideas at this point, so Luke and Morgan set out for drinks at Casey’s. We were all back together by 11:30. Sadly, Heather had to take a boat while we went to the bus stops, but we had plans to see her at least twice more this trip.
Not sure when Luke snapped this photo.
We arrived back at Boardwalk a little after midnight to a surprise. As we entered our room there was a giant Mickey balloon. On checking the gift tag, I discovered that our SWA pilots had sent them to us. Magic! How did they know where we were staying?
Morgan changed, climbed in bed once Luke had it made, and promptly fell asleep. Luke and I unpacked more quickly than I could have imagined as tired as we were. Before we knew it, we were in bed, too, and out for the count with the alarm set for 7:30 and Epcot on the agenda.

I love the double thumbs up! A happy Morgan! Great update! How cool that the pilots found you and gave you the balloons. How did they find out? Must have connections. Disney Magic!
I am so glad that you met up with friends and had such a good evening and were able to enjoy Wishes and many memories made with Stefanie. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been.

Finally, some rides for Morgan and she looks thrilled! What a cool surprise to find when you got back to your room, how on earth did those pilots find you??? Pure magic!
I am really enjoying reading this report. I have to say the pictures in front the castle are really great pics. So excited Morgan was able to get some of the bottled up energy released with some great rides.
That was really a Magical Moment for the Pilot to send some Pixies for you all!!!!!! I think this was a Sign that it is Okay to have a Wonderful and Magical time.
I would like to make bags for my DGD and DGS to hand out to Pilots and Stewardess. I just have no idea what to put into them!!!!!! Maybe I can PM you when you have some time!!!
This would be a great Tradition for them to start!!!
