Halloween, Hawaii and holiday celebrations - THIS SECTION COMPLETED 12/27 - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the pictures, I'm homesick for EPCOT too. For my holiday in February I'm pretty much leaving it up to my friend Jacqueline where we go as she has never been and I'll be back. However, she told me she didn't like the sound of EPCOT!!!! anyway i gave her my passporter and now it is at the top of the list phew. Something to do with wine tasting :-)
Thank goodness you were able to change her mind! I couldn't deal with not going to Epcot on any vacation we take to Disney....
All the group photos are great. It is so nice to meet up with friends and have a few laughs. Mark is really having lots of fun, first with the Stepsisters and now with his sausage/bun problem. Really funny stuff.
That was great that you ran into Deb Wills over at the BC. Always looking at Allears. Especially, for the WDW menus!
Looked like a fun time at Epcot and seems you got to try a number great appetizers from around the world. Most looked really good, but Mark's sausage, well that was kind of odd! I guess Disney needs to work on that a bit!
Must have been so much fun to try a lot of these food offerings with some fellow PPs.

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
What great fun at Epcot enjoyed lots of interesting foods with friends. I didn't try the souffle as I've had Bleu Cheese before that I did not like at all. Wish I had tried it now. How cool that a PP photographer came by while you all were together at the table, too.

Mark tends to always have fun wherever he goes - it's in his nature!

It was a lot of fun, and generally they were very good. I have to say, even if I ate meat, I really wouldn't have bothered with that sausage, as the look of it would've put me off.

What a shame you didn't try it. I honestly think you would've liked it.
Thursday 31 October – part six: I didn’t even know this existed…
We carried on around World Showcase, entering the American Adventure…
… and then we headed for the Chase Lounge, which I didn’t know even existed until today but then again, how would I, as we can’t get anything from Chase in the UK…
The first thing we did was to get some drinks, non-alcoholic for once, and I was fascinated by these machines. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so detailed before with so many choices.
I ended up getting the raspberry Diet Coke, which was lovely. I’m very impressed that they’re moving into flavours for Diet Coke, and I really hope that makes it across the pond.
We headed to the other side of the lounge….
… and after a while, we managed to secure a table, first with about four chairs, but as people left, we were able to grab more and more chairs until finally everyone could sit down. One of my favourite memories is Larry on a stealth mission to get one of those chairs. I don’t think anyone else noticed, but I did. I watched him head off, very determined, and I knew he was up to something, but I wasn’t sure what. The triumphant look as he came back with his prize of another chair was something to see!
We’d been there maybe 20 minutes or so, when one of the Cast Members came in and told us that we were there at the right time, as they were now handing out free vouchers to all the adults for an alcoholic drink. The choices were either white wine (which both Mark and I went for), red wine or beer. It was really neat, and heck let’s be honest, it’s not often you get something for free from Disney….
When Mark, Larry and I got back from getting our drinks (we took the second tour, as we were watching the table while everyone else went up), they were chatting away to Agnes from Scotland, who was a wonderful cheery Cast Member. She was on the exit as we left, and I managed to get a photo of her then…
Anyway, she took the first group shot of us from that afternoon, which came out great.
We carried on chatting away for a while, enjoying our free drinks…
When we finally came to leave, we got another Cast Member to get a shot of all of us.
It had been a really fun afternoon, and it’s something I’m glad we got to do, as we could never do it on our own. We got a few shots in the American Adventure…
We slowly made our way through the rest of World Showcase, as my goodness, it was hot outside now. Apparently, we later learnt from the weather forecast that it was hotter than the seasonal average, although only, it turned out, by around three degrees!

Just getting caught up with your last couple updates - that outfit the woman was wearing was definitely Disney inappropriate and I didn't think Disney allowed adults into the parks dressed up in costumes unless it was actually for a Halloween party night at the MK The escalators were also down in October for Soarin when we were there but everyone was taking the stairs to get out of the bottom floor of the pavilion. I can't believe that it's suppose to take a couple months before they're in working order again. Your food pictures look so delish! I really enjoyed the samplings at the F&W this year
And the fun continues! Great photos of the whole gang.
The lounge looks much better and roomier than last year's. Last year it was in the Festival Center/Wonders of Life building. I think in the American Adventure it's better located. It's much easier to get to, plus it's smack dab in the middle of the food booths!
