As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love all the Christmas stuff! My son was looking over my shoulder and loved all the Star Wars stuff. He pointed out the things he would like and it was fun to tell him all these things were far away in Paris. His jaw dropped. It was kind of funny.

Well in fairness, it depends how early in the trip it comes out... I'll have to try and persaude him to wear it as soon after we arrive as possible.
Saturday 6 October – part sixteen: I guess it just wasn’t meant to be today
The entrance to the park looked much more spectacular now it was darker...
When we got inside, we took a restroom break, and look what I found!
Then we tried to decide what to do. The initial plan was something out of the rain, and I thought maybe the Railroad would be fun to do, but unbelievably, it was closed. I have no idea why, as the parade had been and gone, but that wasn’t an option.
Instead, we decided to head back to Pirates of the Caribbean. We headed into the Emporium to escape the rain - and it too was beautifully decorated for the holidays...
Then we took the Liberty Arcade, which runs behind the shops on Main Street. It was built because of the climate of Disneyland Paris, and it’s perfect for wet days, as it ensures you can stay inside the whole way up Main Street, which is very clever.
We headed into Frontierland...
Soon we were back into Adventureland, and the rain seemed to be easing as we made our way over to Pirates. Contrast this photo taken with the rainy afternoon with the same shot I’d taken earlier in the day when it was a lot sunnier.
As we got to Pirates, we just looked at each other and said “ way!”. The line was snaking all the way back to the entrance, and from what I could recall from previous visits, that was at least a 30 minute wait, yet the counter at the entrance was saying there was no wait. Ok.... we both figured that probably meant the ride had gone down again. I guess we just weren’t meant to ride Pirates today then...
As we were near Fantasyland, we walked that way, and this time I noticed the mass of construction work going on around the Toad Hall counter service restaurant. I have no idea what they’re doing there, and I couldn’t find anything online about it, so maybe it’s just a refurbishment, but it looked like quite major work...
I suggested going through Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, as the rain wasn’t too bad, and of course, there was no line at all for it now. This is so much fun, and it’s not a real labyrinth, as usually if you have a choice of two paths, they both take you to the same destination. It’s kind of like Disney’s gentle version of a maze if that makes sense...
We saw so many characters from Alice in Wonderland, although with a couple of them, we couldn’t help but wonder if a couple of them were actually imposters from other Disney films...
The favourite part for me is the Cheshire Cat with its huge smile, and its rolling eyes. I loved the way the smile was now lit up as well.
Soon we were at the exit, but we had the option of seeing the Queen of Hearts, and we decided to take that. There was quite a bit more walking in it, but we saw some wonderful things along the way, including the Queen herself!
We got to her castle, but there was no way that we were going to go upstairs, as we were both far too exhausted.

I have a friend that goes to DLP once or twice a year and I always read her TR's and I think she must do a lot of the same thing each trip, because I have seen so many different things and views of things on this one from you. Very interesting. Love it!
The arcades on the back of the shops are a lifesaver when it's raining! Unfortunately, I've had my fair share of rain at DLP and I've always been very grateful that there was a way to get from one end of Main Street, USA to the other and stay dry in the process!
I imagine there are times when one wishes for arcades like that at the MK at WDW as well - especially during a typical Florida downpour in the middle of the summer

Brrr i remember the rain well that day as we got soaked going to the centre of Paris for the Hard Rock Cafe, Much as the MK has my heart looking at your pictures I am realising the DLP is most likely the best themed of them all. We need to stop rushing round the park and stop and look around us more
