Rain, Sunshine & Cupcakes ~ June 24 - July 3 - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After our filling lunch we kept on walking around, snapping pictures.
Adriel being silly.
I went to WoD to see if I could find the Safari Mickey that Adriel wanted. Remember the one he wanted to buy outside of AK and I told him to wait. I figured they's have it here since they have almost everything. Well, they didn't have it. Let's just say that Adriel wasn't too happy. To this day he still reminds me of that.
I went into Basin. After smelling almost all the soaps I finally decided on the Almond Honey and the Japanese Cherry Blossom. The boys wanted one too and they chose Ocean Mist.
We then moved on to Once Upon a Toy.
I bought a box of Potato Head pieces for Adriel. AJ bought the book #4 and #5 of the Kingdom Keepers series.
Adriel wanted to go on the Carrousel. We saw a couple of those in the parks but no, he wanted to go on this one. The one that costs money.
It was very hot and we were getting tired and cranky so we decided to go back to the resort. By now it was 4:30 but we still had a while more to wait. We got to the resort and I retrieved our carry-ons. After some re-arranging I was able to put our purchases away. We found some comfy seats at the lounge and parked ourselves there.
At about 7:00 the kids and I were getting hungry so we headed over to Riverside Mill for some dinner. I don’t really remember what the boys had. I had pasta. Arben was still full (that’s a first) so he didn’t get anything.
My dinner.
I went to the bathroom to freshen up, while the boys went to the store. They wanted to buy me a bracelet but didn’t have enough money. So they bought me a keychain and a unicorn lollipop instead.
At around 8:00 we started gathering our stuff and headed outside. And what do you know, it was raining. I’m gonna say that Disney was crying because they were really, really sad we were leaving. We were also very sad to leave as you can see in these pictures.
The DME bus arrived promptly at 8:30.
There was only one more family in the bus and they too were headed to Puerto Rico. The bus drivers name was Omar and he was from Colombia. He was nice and very funny. He said he loved to speak Spanish but he can’t do it very often because he isn’t allowed to do it on the job. His farewell message to us was hilarious. He said, “If you’ve enjoyed my services my name is Omar but if you didn’t then my name is Jose. Unless your name is Jose, then my name is Carlitos.”
Something rather strange did happen. As we were entering the airport, the bus driver managed to get the door stuck on a curb and when trying to “fix” it he actually broke the door. "Somebody's in trouble"
Anyways, we were dropped off and the airport looked like a ghost town.
There were no lines at security. We would’ve breezed through if it weren’t for the guard that decided to quiz my kids. That was the first time that has ever happened. I then got mad at Arben because I had to carry almost everything while he went on with his bin to put on his stuff. Yeah, here I am carrying a thousand things and keeping an eye on all 3 kids while he’s off to a bench with his tiny little bin.
We walked to our gate and settled down. I read for a while, Arben napped of course, AJ also read and the other 2 annoyed me. Before we knew it, it was time to board. We got settled in and the plane took off right on time. Before the crew came around offering snacks, Adriel was asleep on my lap. Poor kid, he was done.
The flight was uneventful and we landed 10 minutes early. We got off the plane and gathered our luggage. My bil was outside waiting. We loaded the SUV and were on our way. Arrived home at 2:45 am. We were all so exhausted, lights were out at 3:20.
And just like that, our most magical trip ever was over.

Not the last day Sounds exactly like the day we are going to have in about two weeks, lunch at TRex and not a lot of plans before our very late flight home! I don't even want to think about it yet.
Sorry the trip has come to an end, but it was a good one and I had fun coming along with you! Looking forward to your final thoughts

T-Rex was so good! It was nice to just shop and walk around DTD, but I have to say the sun was a killer. I think next time I will plan to go to a park for a little while that last day. My kids and I are go-go-go and we had too much down time that day. We were all getting very antsy.

I guess it would be fitting that it was so cold in the restaurant since you were seated in the "Ice Age" section. Looks like a beautiful last day all the way up until you had to leave. BTW, was the TSA guy questioning the kids in a joking sort of way or was he being serious? I tend to find the agents at MCO airport are a lot friendlier than at other airports, but maybe I just get lucky every time.
last days are always sad it looks like you all had a very magical time though!!
We had a great trip which made it much more hard to leave.

Next time no Ice Age section for us.
The agent was very serious. She asked them their name and birth date. AJ passed with flying colors, Abniel forgot the year he was born and Adriel forgot how to say his birth date in english (which I'd taught him in both spanish and english ) Maybe it's the night shift that makes them not so nice and the fact that they didn't have to rush through the passengers because there was no one there. I think she saw us and thought "look at those suckers, they think they're gonna breeze through here". Thank goodness she didn't ask Arben anything, with him not speaking englsih, or otherwise we'd still be there.
So I've been out of commission for a few weeks but now all caught up. I've really enjoyed reading all about your most magical trip ever. And still in time to get your final thoughts.
I've been thinking about taking my son to Hollywood and fine, he loves Jake too but afraid he is getting too old for the others - June, Oso and Manny.
Wish they had one with Jake, Hook, Smee and Phineas and Ferb, that would be great.
So sad that it's over! Sounds like a good last day, taking it easy at DTD. The portions at T-Rex are really huge! We were so full we couldn't eat dessert, but seeing your desserts has made me want to go back.
Glad the trip home was uneventful. I've never seen MCO that empty!

thanks for sharing your trip with us all.
I read somewhere that they were planning on adding Hook and some other character to H&V. If I find it I'll put the link here.
Adriel is 7 and he enjoyed all the characters as he watches all these shows back home. His favorite of course is Jake.

You must try dessert next time. The Meteor Bites were so good! They were donut holes and came in vanilla and chocolate with caramel and chocolate sauces for dipping.
