Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I do love following along on your trips and seeing, and hearing how the girls are growing up. My Granddaughter, Jhaela wanted a henna tattoo when they visited with us at Myrtle Beach last week, so I found out they are temporary(I'm old and out of the loop!), but I know when she is old enough she will probably get the real thing, and I hate to see that. So I would hate to see that with Jasmine, too... I know, I know, I have to get with it and move on into the 21st century... but it's soooo hard sometimes!!!
Funny as much as the henna tattoo was on the top of her list she ended up never getting one and her smiling on the past two trips is very surprising, even I had to sometimes check if I had the wrong kid

Day 7 August 3 - Angel's Birthday Part I

We were planning on eating at Kona's for breakfast but the girls decided earlier the day before that they rather just enjoy something at the MSB so I cancelled our ADR. Angel was up bright and early as today was her special day. I texted my sister to see if they were moving yet...no reply so I told her we were heading out and to text me when they got to the MK.

We had a bit of a wait for a MK bus, maybe 15 - 20 minutes but once we did we were soon arriving at the MK, we had just missed RD but everyone hadjust went in so we were not running too late.

We headed in and soon were at our 1st destination of the day....the MSB. Angel dined on a brownie and Jasmine and I had crossiants. We found a table and just relaxed over breakfast figuring my sister should be showing up shortly. Well after our long drawn out breakfast we decided to head over to Tomorrowland as Angel's first ride for her birthday had to be SpMt. Knowing my sister and nephew would want to ride I picked up three FP, Jasmine found a nice spot to relax and Angel and I headed in to the non-existant line (I think we walked all the way through to the ride). I had been dreading this as this ride does a number on my back even when I am not having issues but I did not want Angel to have to ride alone on her birthday.

Imagine my surprise when we get up to the front and Angel tells the CM, I am riding alone my mom got a pain in her neck...lol. I asked her if she was sure and she said mom I am 11 now I can ride alone . There were a few people in front of her but there was room for a single rider they put her on the ride before I even made my way out towards the exit.

She came off smiling and since the ride wait was still short I walked her through one more time. By the time we got off the wait was up to 20 minutes (glad I grabbed those FPs). Still nothing from my sister so we headed onto the People Mover for a nice ride through Tomorrowland.

We came off and finally got a text from my sister that they were on a bus . I was really glad she was going to make it to RD . The girls and I headed onto Buzz and by the time we got off I finally got another text that they were at the MSB and would meet us in Tomorrowland soon. While she might not have heeded my directions about making it for RD she did at least follow them when it cameto getting a PP picture on her way in

As we waited Angel and Jaz took a spin on Astro Orbiter and as they made it off finally we see my sister and nephew. It was time for more FPs so I handed my sister the FPs for SpMt and my daughter and grabbed their tickets so could get FPs for Buzz.

Jasmine and I took a look in some shops and then waited for them to make it off of SpMt. Not sure what the hold up was but they finally made it off the ride. We still had a bit of time for Buzz so we headed for the COP.

It was nice to enjoy this today with no headache, I so love this attaction. It was time for Buzz so that was our next stop.

Jasmine offered to ride alone (since I rode alone on our first trip through earlier) so I rode with my sister while the little ones rode together. Not sure what my score was but it definitely was not worth remembering

We had wrapped up everything we wanted to do in TL except Monster's Inc so that was our next destination.

We headed to some seats and then Jasmine had a good feeling about some other ones so we headed to those. She was close on the luck as the little boy next too us soon was shining on the big screen. It was great fun anyway and the little boy he was just too cute. He was super shy so at first he wouldn't talk, and then when he did...well they almost could not get him to stop.

With Tomorrowland complete our next stop was Fantasyland. My nephew wanted to hit the Speedway but there was already a 30 minute wait and it was sooooo hot so I told him we would head to that later.

I had gotten a text from my co-worker (the wonderful DVC friend of mine) and he said he and his dad was heading over to the MK so I told him to text me when he arrived so we could all meet up for a bit.

First thing was a stop for PP FPs for later....my sister and nephew were hungry so we stopped for....not sure what we ate, think chicken nuggets and as we sat there eating the first drops started to fall I knew that they had mentioned scattered storms but they were saying later in the afternoon. Wasn't expecting them so early but we were under one of those umbrella tables and truth be told it was hot. Maybe the rain gods knew something as it did feel refreshing.

The rained stopped and the sun was still shining so I was holding out hope, as we decided what to do Jasmine stole the camera and took some nice castle shots.

We decided to do Philamagic, can never ge enough of this as it is a favorite by our whole group. My co-worker texted as we were comin out that he was making his way over to Fantasyland so I told him to meet us by SSA as Jasmine wanted another ride through and I told my sister she should ride now because the probablity of her getting the chance was no likely as she does not make it to WDW often.

I waited for them outside the exit and soon Mike, my co-worker and his dad showed up. It was so nice to meet his dad, as I heard so much about him. He was such a sweet man, telling me all about growing up in Italy and about when he fought in WWII. As we were talking though the rain began again and by the time the rest of the group made their way off of the ride it was a total downpour. I stood under the awning while my sister took the kids into the store....wrong move it was a madhouse.

The finally made their way out and we tried to determine our next move....we were hoping that the rain would let up a bit as the area we were in was totally congested but it wasn't look likely.....

Great start to the day, but now the rain seems to be creating some issues. I'm sort of wanting a MSB croissant right now!

Sounds like a great start! But Fantasyland is not the place you want to be stuck in a rain storm! It's crazy there without the rain!

Well what else is there to do in the rain...but run around and have fun...lol well we did not run around too much but it definitely cooled off what had been a blistering morning of heat...

Now I want a croissant for the MSB - the ones they sell downstairs are no where close, just makes me want one even more

Good news that the rain did not cause too much havoc once we got out of that area - it was just so crowded.

Thanks Danielle - the 40 minutes of wait time did give me ample time to remind my sister how wonderful I am

Totally agree Sharon - if I had been stuck in the rain anywhere else I probably would not have minded but with the rain and the crowds and everyone running...I felt trapped. Once we got out of the mad rush the rain did not bother us at all, I think it was a welcomed reprieve to the heat.

Your sister is too funny with the not wanting to walk. Disney is definitely the place to go if you don't want to walk... I may have mentioned it a time or ten in my TR how much I Lurve the IG walkway!

How sweet was Angel to watch Illuminations in the rain with you. Sorry about all the rain, but it looks like you didn't let it stop you from having fun!

Sorry about the delay, life is just really catching up to me lately without further ado....

Day 7 August 3 Angel's Birthday Part II

So we were standing in FL in the pouring rain and it was a madhouse, it fianlly let up a bit (ok too a bad strom from the monsoon that had been coming down) and we grabbed our umbrellas and headed over to IASW as Mike and his dad had not ridden it yet and I figured it was a good place to keep dry for a bit.

Now it seemed that everyone had that idea the line was sticking our towards the carraige pen so we headed over with the crowd. We stood there for a few minutes when the rain just came down in buckets again. We ended up getting off the line and getting some protection from the awning over at PPF. Well most of the line that was outside dissappeared so we headed over again and got back in line for IASW.

The wait was about 20 minutes but compared to what was going on outside it was a welcomed reprieve. It was nice to get to spend some time with Mike and his dad and we all were just talking and listening to his dad's stories and before we knew it we were on our boat.

After spending sometime with the children of the world we made our way out to sunlight and no rain. Mike and his dad were going to head back to the resort (as the humidity was back to full blast now that the rain was over) so we said our goodbyes for now and our group headed over to PPF since our FP time had approached.

We headed for another ride on the HM, I was excited for my sister to see the new queue but for some reason she and my nephew thought that they wait would be longer (even though I told them it wouldn't be) but for whatever the reason they wanted to wait on the regular line so we did. The kids wanted SplMt but the wait was 90 minutes so we grabbed FP for after dinner. The wait for BTMRR was something like 40 or 50 minutes, it was hot, I really did not want to wait, the idea of enjoying the HOP where it was nice and air conditioned sounded much better but I was to hot to argue so we waited, and waited...Jasmine was hot and cranky (we all know how much she loves long waits, even if it is for one of her favorite rides). We finally made it to the front and it was definitely close to an hour wait.

Now it was a great ride as always, but never again. As much as I love the ride standing in the late afternoon heat waiting for this ride was unbearable but I am a good sister (or at least I kept telling myself that). With that out of the way we headed to the train to take us to the front of the park so we could head over to the CR for Angel's birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's.

We stopped first for a group photo.

We had some time so I kind of just dropped the idea of walking...I am sure you can all guess how well that went over so off to the monorail for our ride to the CR.

We did not have a long wait, maybe 5 minutes before we were taken to our table (in the section off to the side where the kitchen entrance is). The rest of the group went up to get some food while Angel and I waited for the chef who came out soon after.

We did the allergy walk and we discussed dessert options, Angel said tofutti would be fine which he said he had but he also asked her if she would like her very own birthday cupcake which of course she said yes. Even though there was a few things I could eat from the buffet, the chef asked if I would like one as well, of course I agreed.

I went to get my plate as well as Angel's, there were a few things he said he rather bring her from the back and by the time we headed back to the table the chef was back out with the plate. Soon the parade of characters began.

Of course Angel shared with Goofy my infatuation with him...so I had to get in for a picture.

The kids got into the napkin waving.

Now they brought out the birthday cupcakes and the server brought one over to Angel but he told me this one was just for show that Angel's would be out shortly which was fine as everyone was still finishing up their meal.

Soon the chef came out and brought out Angel's dessert and my cupcake.

The chef was telling me that his cupcakes are gluten, dairy, nut and egg free...not sure what was left to put in them but OMG these were amazing . He even apologized for the delay but he said they had not been ready yet and he meant that as they still had that just out of the oven warm gooyness to them. They were just OUT OF THIS WORLD good (I guess you can all tell I liked them).

As much as Angel tried she could not finish all her tofutti and strawberries so everyone helped her out but she ate every last crumb of her birthday cupcake.

Now I am sure that you know how well my idea of walking our dinner off went right? So back to the monorail we went and we headed back to the MK.

We wandered up Main Street before heading over to AL where we rode the Jungle Cruise, after our cruise we headed over to FL so we could use our FP for SplMt. Jasmine waited for us and we walked through a quick FP line and were soon on our log.

It was still really hot and Jasmine had been nursing a headache since dinner (guess a premonition to what was coming) so she really wanted some AC so we headed over to POR.

No wait there so soon we were in the cool AC - Jasmine was happy

The kids were having some fun in the store after the ride. Angel was getting truly into character.

Now the plan was to watch Wishes together for Angel's birthday, that was my one and only request for this trip...to watch our favorite fireworks together on her actual birthday. It was about 7:30 and I knew that my nephew wanted to ride SpMt (and since this where there last day at the MK) so I sent my sister with the two little ones off to TL to ride it and told her I would meet her there, I figured that even if there was a long wait with 2 1/2 hours until Wishes worse case scenerio we would watch from the Tomorrowland bridge.

We walked together to Liberty Square and there I sent her through FL towards SpMt.

Jasmine was still not feeling well so I asked her if she wanted to head back to the resort, she said no so we headed into the HOP, we had just missed the show so I told Jasmine we could wait, instead she voted for another ride on the HM so that is where we headed.

When we got out I asked her if she wanted to head back to try to catch the next show but she said let's just wander through FL so we did, we stopped for another ride on SWSA and Pooh. It was around 9:15 - 9:30 and still no word from my sister so we headed towards TL.

While we were waiting I could tell Jasmine just felt miserable, her head was still bothering her so I told her to head back to the room, she did not want to go she wanted to watch Wishes with her sister but I was worried about her...so I told her it was ok, that Angel would understand and that she would rather her sister felt better so after a bit of protest I convinced her to head back to the room.

I finally got a message from my sister that they were close...that there had been a 90 minute wait, now I am not sure how slow they were walking (or maybe I could) but even with a 90 minute wait I would figure they would be out by now but I told her ok.

So I wandered a bit...and waited...and waited. Another text...."do you want me to send her out because I don't think we are going to make it"

Now she had been standing on line waiting and waiting, I was not going to pull her off the ride so I told her no...forget it, Angel loved SpMt and after waiting I did not want to dissappoint her so I wandered over to the area by the bathrooms near the TL Noodle Station and found a little spot...and alone I watched Wishes on Angel's Birthday.

Jasmine had called to talk to Angel as she figured since she wasn't there with her she could call her and tell her Happy Birthday during Wishes but I told her that she was still on the ride. Of course Jasmine felt bad that she had left and that I was alone but it was ok I told her.

I was watching Wishes and we had a wonderful trip so far filled with so many great memories I was not going to let this upset me.

After Wishes I went back over to TL - they still were not out so I went and got me a chocolate ice cream Coke float to drown my sorrows and I waited and waited and waited. I even asked the CM if there had been any problems with the ride over the past hours. She said it had been smooth sailing all evening.

They finally made it out around 10:25 and Angel was upset because I was alone during Wishes. I told her it was fine...that I watched them for the both of us and that I was just happy that she had fun and that we had watched Illuminations together.

My sister was like I'm sorry there was a 100 minute wait and that she would have sent Angel out to me. I told her I wasn't going to do that to her after she had been waiting...I kept asking her how long did it take them to get to the ride because even if she was walking super slow...there was no way they got there, waiting for 100 minutes and still did not make it out until 10:30 but she said it was just a long wait.

I dropped it...it was done already. Angel wanted to go for one last ride on the TTA (as this was our last day at the MK as well, unless we decided to head back on Friday) so we got on...and rode twice in a row. Now the Stitch Dance Party was going on...it was too funny as we were passing Angel starts screaming...."Hi Stitch...I love you Stitch"....she was definitely overtired .

Then my sister and nephew started singing show tunes...on the TTA (I am only thankful there was no one in any of the cars near us). So now not only do you mess up my one request of the day but now you are punishing me by singing show tunes....loudly, and so off key (but she thinks she is on key so she is really getting into this) then to top the night off....my nephew starts singing Katy Perry. I so needed a FAB at this moment...the Coke Float was just not cutting it.

We were going to head out but the parade was going to start in like 5 minutes and we found a spot on the curb for Angel and Trent so we stopped to watch. Angel took pictures during the parade and while she had some really strange shots (not sure how she was holding the camera) she got some pretty good ones as well.

As soon as the parade was over I told my sister goodnight as she was going into the bakery for a snack and I promised Angel we could head into the candy store as she wanted a lollypop and Jasmine had asked for one as well. It was on the line that Angel told me about the long walk to SpMt as they stopped in the store, and to buy soda, and to buy popcorn...suddenly it all made sense now as to why they did not make it out in time (I knew I had it timed perfectly in my head...lol)

We headed to the bus and just missed one, we had about a 20 minute wait for the next one but we had a seat so we were good to go. We got back to the room and Jasmine was sleeping. I put her snack in the fridge and I only hopped she would feel better when she woke up as we were heading to AK and that is one of Jasmine's favorites.

Glad the rains let up but sorry it was replaced by hot and humid. You all were super patient to wait in the splash line!
What an awesome birthday dinner for Angel....she looks like she had a ball....she has such a beautiful smile.
I am sorry that Wishes didn't quite work as planned....but maybe that was why you and Angel enjoyed illuminations in the rain earlier....
Hope everyone sleeps well and wakes up refreshed!
