Live, Laugh, Relax with Cam and Fam Completed 7/31 - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I had a dentist's appointment today for a regular checkup. Unfortunately, the dentist discovered a small cavity. When I was at the front desk to set up an appointment, the young woman doing the scheduling asked me if my family might have been in Disney World recently. I said, "Yes." She asked when and I told her June 6 - 17. She said that would work. Then she asked if we might have been giving out glow bracelets one night before Illuminations. I smiled and told her that was us. I had gotten them for the meet and had loads of extras. Luke had taken some over to her two sons. She told her husband that she thought she knew us, but just couldn't remember from where. He thought she was silly, so now she gets to tell him that she did really know us.

Disney’s Electrical Parade and SummerNightastic Fireworks Part Deux
We were ready to stake out a spot for the second showing of Disney’s Electrical Parade, heading into Frontierland where we’ve had good luck getting a spot in the past for SpectroMagic. It was about 45 minutes prior to the start. We lucked out with a front row seat next to a sweet couple from Indiana. Once we had our seats, Luke left for a drink for Stefanie and surprised me by also returning with 2 Dole Whips for him and me. In the heat these were very messy, but oh so yummy.
About 5 minutes before the parade a woman and very young boy soved their way under the ropes right in front of us and another couple, attempting to push us all back. I insisted they move as nicely as possible as it was rude to shove in front of folks who had been waiting for quite a while. She acted like she didn’t understand me. A moment later a daughter arrived, but Luke was able to block her. He explained the situation to her and asked if her mom understood English. Her answer, “Yes, what has she done now?” The daughter explained in their native language to her Mom who still refused to move and the couple to our right I guess didn’t want a confrontation, so they scooted back for her. So I crowned her “Queen of Rude.”
Disney Electrical Parade was so much cooler up close. I took pictures and Luke videotaped it. Stefanie still misses Chip and Dale though. And now for more pictures!

Once the parade was over, we moved to the area in front of Crystal Palace to view the fireworks again. Luke videotaped and I just watched this time rather than attempting photos over trees and heads. Stefanie liked it much better this night as she was not as hot and we could hear the soundtrack much better in this spot.
Afterwards, Luke quickly wove us through the traffic in shops to the front exit. As we were walking to the bus stop, Stefanie was talking rather loudly. Luke said, “Please calm down, Stefanie.” To which she replied, “I can’t calm down, I’m at Disney!” When we got to the BC bus stop a bus was already waiting, but it was too full for us. Another came within 5 – 10 minutes and we took a seat. On the bus ride she and Luke had the following conversation.
Stefanie – “Dad, did you use man lotion today?”
Luke – On my face.”
Stefanie – “Any on your arms?”
Luke – “No.”
Stefanie – “What kind of man lotion do you use?”
Luke – “Nivea.”
And for some reason I couldn’t stop laughing through the whole exchange.
When we arrived at BC, we stopped at the Marketplace to pick up our DHS package from the day before plus we needed to get some drinks and Chip and Dale peanuts for Stefanie (one of her musts of every trip).
Now some a perfect example of Cam-ness. Back at the room, I couldn’t figure out how to get my super new bracelet off. After 15 minutes of trying, I called my DSiL (Luke’s baby sister) who owns a Pandora bracelet. She had quite a laugh at my confusion. But I tried what she said, but still couldn’t seem to detach myself from the bracelet. I gave up and began getting ready for bed. Once my contacts were out and I could see a bit better with my bifocals and could see up close better, I found the little groove and finally succeeded in getting the bracelet off. Luke asked me how the CM had gotten it off and on. Unfortunately, I had paid any attention. I put one load of laundry into the washer and then we were all in bed by 12:20 AM.
Next: A breakfast with character, more character time, and front row seats

How great that the receptionist from your dentist office was there and saw you guys!
So sorry about the Queen of Rude!
I love all of the pictures from the parade! It looks beautiful!
I read the conversation between Stefanie and Luke about the "man lotion" to Allen.....he cracked up! So did I! Stefanie is just so crazy!

How fun to realize you came across someone from home at The World. It really is a small world. What a funny conversation between Stefanie and Luke. I LOVE the picture of Stefanie hugging Pooh. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.

What a great evening at the MK, love your birthday gift. Jasmine has a sterling silver charm bracelet that she has been collecting since our first trip, we heve never been in the jeweler on Main Street, definitely have to make it over there to check out the charms.
You pictures of the parade were amazing, I am so sad that we are missing this parade, I love Spectro but I really would have loved to see this parade.
Love the exchange between Luke and Stefanie on the bus too funny.
Those pictures of the Electrical Light Parade are awesome Cam! They take me back to when I was younger. The mushroom from Alice in Wonderland and Pete's Dragon. I almost can remember the sites, sounds and smells from back then.
The conversation between Luke and Stefanie about man lotion was hilarious. I think I would have been rollin on the bus floor after that one. She was on her game that day with Prince Naveen and now the man lotion. She is just too sweet!!
I wonder if the Queen of Rude was related to the King of Rude when we were at Epcot last June trying to watch Illuminations. Same scenario: arrived near the start time, pretended not to understand anyone, and then he decides to put his daughter on top of his shoulders to which everyone behind him could no longer see directly in front of them.

Great update Cam. I meant to mention yesterday to be careful not to put too many things on you Chamilla bracelet to the point that it is tight--I definitely snapped mine! I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet--I had the one with the toggle closure!
