We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mike & I are planning our anniversary too! We're getting a Dylan free night out of the deal too.
I know your's & Mike's is right arou ours! Happy Anniversary to you and Mike! How awesome you and Mike are gettig a Dylan free night for yours! I know Erick works too much so I can understand his request for a Skyler free night since now all of our dinners out have Skyler and we don't get much time to ourselves. Plus we know Skyler will be spoiled by his MiMi & PaPa(and he is very attached to Erick's mom too). Erick really lucked out with our Anniversary this year as he has off his main job Friday and Monday for the Holiday and only has to work at his PT job Friday night, full day Sat., & Sunday, only night time Monday, and off all day Tuesday, so Disney or not, I'm still happy I get time with him. While he's at work Monday night it gives me a few hours to get any last minute things for us.

I hope everyone's having a wonderful weekend. We have Erick's big DB Mike & our DSil Chrissy here this weekend. I did talk to mom this morning as I had asked her if she could help me by letting me know the name of an Orchid I saw in the Grocery Store in a beautiful arrangement(mom is an Orchid expert an Erick had no clue). I did find out it is a Phelanopsis Orchid and it was a gorgeous deep purple and the arrangement had a single white rose. I took a pictur with my phone so When I go back to the store to pick up our Anniversary Cake and a couple bags of Rose Petals I ordered on Tuesday if they don't have one made up, I have an inspiration picture.
I did inform my mom o our breakfast ADR at 'Ohana and she seemed excited about it. Mom doesn't handle surprises well, but I thought surprising her with one last meal together it would be a nice way to part. She was surprisd, but I'm glad I surprised her in a good way. She is also helping me shave off some items to purchase for our trip. She said she actually has plenty of travel size toiletries that I can bring enough for our last day and a half without her and she doesn't mind bringing her full size bottles with for us to use at Disney when she's there with us and bringing them back home.
Last night we did check out new luggage as it is actually time for me to get rid of my rolling duffle(all the interior rods are breaking and cannot be fixed). I am going to see if I can test out and possibly borrow DInlaws larger suitcase if it's easy enough to pull while pushing Skyler's stroller. If not I may be lookin into a Spinner type suitcase. At least Erick understands my need for a new suitcase as he knows how much my old suitcase has been used and worn, and has lasted it's 10 year guarantee. I have discovered those are the easiest to push and push with Skyler's stroller.
Mom did mention she has a Flip Video Camera and is going to bring it with. She is going to test it out with night time setting During her upcoming trip to NYC in June and during the fireworks over 4th of July Weekend. When I mentioned to her about the Fireworks being a different type than the traditional ones for MNSSHP and she was ever so excited, as that was her reaction too for The Headless Horseman in he Boo To You Parade. She defanitely understands no flashes for when the Headless Horseman enters, as we know they spook horses(mom and I have a great love of horses and a great mother-daughter favorite pasttime of ours). I am so appreciative she is going to tape Hallowishes & Boo to You for us, as well as Skyler & I enjoying our rides on Dumbo, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, & Barnstormer, possibly the Carousel too.
I forgot to mention that I did ask my mom if and when she had time before we come if she could look for and pull out more old photos especially old Disney Photos for me to bring home with me. She was so happy I asked her that and she said she would gladly do it for me. She even liked the idea of glow sticks or glow necklaces, that she may bring some as well for Skyler. She also said she had a Monkey Halloween Costume, so when we get down there we're going to see if it fits Skyler and if so that may be his costume for MNSSHP. I am excited that mom is excited about Disney and us coming to see her. I am happy she gets Disney as well and does enjoy a lot of the same rides I do. She may think I'm nuts for wanting an extra day and a half at Disney with Skyler, but it's certainly going to be trip we won't forget.
Thank you so much Cheryl. I am glad it was a good surprise to her too. I love your new siggie picture. Your trip is getting so close. You must be so excites.

What a wonderful turn-around with your mom!! She is really being a help with your plans now!
Thank you so much. I am glad things are going a little more smoothly with her and our trip. I am happy she will join us for breakfast before she leaves to head back home. I was certainly surprised when she offered to bring her video camera with so she could help capture our fun while we're there. She does know that I have a video camera as well, but I'm not planning to bring mine with since it's pretty big to lug around, not as compact as her's. I am happy that she is excited to come along and be part of Skyler's 1st Trip.
As I have been looking for more shorts for myself, I know I need to go through and assess how many pair of shorts that still fit Skyler. I have a feeling that besides buying a few more Disney T-shirts for him, a beach towel for us each(or one of the Speedo towels that are compact so we only need one), a new Opair Child waistpack harnass, and shorts, and one more pair of sneakers for each of us, and a new suitcase if needed, we're almost good to pack(which hopefully I can motivate myself to do ahead of time not at the very last second, or I may need to borrow Miss Stefanie to whip me into shape).
Skyler & I are trying to plan on having a fun 100 Days 'til Disney Day in 2 Weeks(I am looking foward to this).
Sorry everyone there may not be an update tomorrow as I will be pretty tied up enjoying the day wirh Erick and doing some running around before we head out for our Dinner Reservation at Benihana and go see "Prince of Persia".
I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend and Happy Memorial Day everyone.
And a huge Thank you to all who have served or are serving in any of the military branches.
Hope you have a great time @ dinner and a movie!!!
Thank you so much Susan. It certainly doesn't feel like tomorrow it will be Erick's & my 3 year Wedding Anniversary. I can't wait to spend the day with him.

Congrats!!!! (Peter & I are coming up on #27 next month!!)
Thank you so much. Congrats to you and Peter on your's. 27 years is a long time. My parents sadly only lasted 17 1/2 years.
The part that gets me about our Anniversary is Skyler's 3rd birthday is exactly a month and 2 days later, so for us it was get married and then have a son a month later.
The only thing that will truely upset me tomorrow since at the Home Depot Erick works at is their Department Managers switch Departments tomorrow, however a nice thing is he gets 1 of his previous managers that he enjoyed working with, and they fired 2 new employees in his department today after them doing some pretty dumb things last night and getting caught. I will be upset if they try to call him in, although I told him to forewarn them he wasn't coming in and they aren't allowed to call him. I know he won't go in, but still. He knows I planned for a meal at a restaurant I know he enjoys the cuisine and seeing a movie he wants to see, so he can't say I disnt take his interests to heart and into my plans for our day.
