We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Trunk Bay looks gorgeous! And you look great (I know you guys were working out a lot before your trip)! I love the little land formations in the water! Very cool!
Also, sounds like a great morning walk through town!
Hope Eric had as good a time as you guys had!
Great updates Crissy. Looks like a beautiful day in both St. Thomas & St. John. Trunk Bay actually looks very familliar. Glad to hear Eric was feeling better. Can't wait to hear about his day. I'm sure it had to be hard being w/o Eric. The seasickness wristbands or patches work wonders. You can use the wrist bands with bonine. Sorry Crissy I had to chuckle a tad bit when you mentioned your lunch that day was fruit and yogurt, as that is primarily all Skyler likes to eat at home(but you'd have to see him take about 5 containers out of the fridge at once and the fruit at the same time). Those funny stories of your's with Eric's mom at the beach and the guy trying to close the bathroom door on the boat. Funny. They did make me laugh. Thanks for sharing those with us. More please.
Yea! You're back! I was starting to wonder if we'd ever hear from you again - I'm glad we did!
St. Thomas & Trunk Bay look like beautiful places! I'm glad to hear Eric was feeling better even if he didn't get to leave the ship yet.
I too would've been laughing so hard at the guy trying to close the door or at Eric's mom falling - why do I find people falling or hurting themselves so funny???

So glad to hear Eric is feeling better - nothing ruins a trip faster. I love those little momments of laughter of course then you get the giggles and everything becomes funny.
Loved the update - and can't wait to read about Eric's day! The pictures of Trunk Bay are lovely! Man you're making me want to go on a cruise so much!!
I have his pics uploaded. Maybe tonight if I have a chance The cruise life is so much fun! I hope you guys decide to go!

I think trunk bay is something they use for a lot of carribean photos. Ive seen it on several calendars. I should've gotten the wristbands because that little rocking boat was more than I could handle!
HAHAHa fruit and yogurt are not usually my lunch but it was very good! I think kids get the best kind of food choices
LOL I"m so glad you along with me laughed at those stories! I thought they were too good to not share!

I know! I feel the same way and love those moments when you cant stop laughing!
BTW to all whenever we got back to the ship eric's mom said after she showered there was a tub full of sand and she said when she took off her suit sand just flowed out still laughing about her misfortune !!!
I'm glad it was a great day and laughs. So sorry to hear the boat was too rocky for you. The wristbands work really well. I never take a cruise without them. I can't complain about fruit and yougurt though, at least it's healthy, but you certainly got a giggle out of me since those are Skyler's
favorites. Your stories were too funny not to laugh. I did laugh too when you said Eric's mom had all that san in her suit(used to happen to us all thr time in Florida. More please Chrissy.
Okay so here's Eric's Mostly pictures but brief explanation of his side of the story
Eric said that after we left for trunk bay that day he slept until about 230pm. He said that once he slept again he felt so much better overall. He said his stomach was still uneasy with very little appetite but he did feel much better.
He said he walked out onto the Lido deck to go up one deck to take some pictures and walk around the top of the ship.
He said that there was NO ONE out there on the ship. Just a few people scattered here and there mostly.
He took these pics...
this is looking out into the havensight mall area from the top of the ship
Eric said the boat docked behind us was doing lifeboat drills and I dont know if this pic is big enough to see but look and you can see all the little orange life boats out in the ocean
There were two other cruise ships docked behind ours
this was the other side of the ship and you can see another ship just docked for tendering in...
In this picture he took is looking at another part of Havensight mall and if you look closely you can see this tram going up the mountain ...that is paradise point...
Eric said he laid down in a hammock on the adult deck for awhile
He said this picture is from sitting in the hammock on the deck
After enjoying a nice hammock break he decided it was around 4pm when they said he could try to get off the ship,.
He said he felt like he was feeling much better and wanted to go to Paradise point.
He first went to the sick bay and they took his vitals and then wrote a note allowing him off the ship.
Just FYI his name had been redflagged and without that note there was no way he could get off that ship!!
He took the note with him as he exited off the boat. They then removed his red flag status and allowed him off the ship.
He walked over to Paradise Point loading dock and he said that there were no lines at all.
He paid 20 dollars and rode the tram to the top...
The views are amazing and worth the 20 dollars and you can see our boat if you look closely
Our boat in the one in the front
they have a resturant and eatery at the top that serves a special drink called the Bailey's bushwacker YUMMO!
here's the eatery
Eric said he spent about an hour up top and decided to head back to the ship around 5pm.
He was there and waiting in the room on our return. He said he bought a shirt while he was heading back to the ship which turned out to be a really cool tshirt!
He took these pics as we began to sail away from the port
the boat departed at 6pm exactly!
Now our story has merged but here's a few pics from his camera before dinner
He loves playing with the color feature on his camera as you all know and he singled out the orange in my dress
here is the towel animal at the end of the night
That was his side off the story
He was able to eat fruit and soup for dinner this night and thus concluding his sickness for the rest of the trip YAY
Up next: Antigua.....an adventure around the island
