Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I didn't know the Segway display was still up. I'll have to look into that next year. The black with silver Epcot shirt sounds really cute. I needed more time and more funds to shop last trip. How about you take a picture of the shirt and post for us? Please

What a great day at Epcot...sounds like you had a variety of yummy snacks over at the F&WF. That is the one experience that I must get too sooner rather than later . Can't wait to hear about more of your day...

Thanks to Mark for that update - and his first post on the boards. Welcome!

As he said, the computer has suffered a very nasty death - fortunately almost everything was backed up, so that's at least something, but we can't get Windows to re-install in it right now and the laptop is steadfastly refusing to connect to the Internet at our home, so we could be offline at home for a while.

I will be updating this as often as I can from work - either before I start in the morning or in my lunch-hour, so bear with me. In the meantime, as I doubt I'll be back online before Monday, here are two updates to keep you going.

Monday 20 October – part four: I can’t believe I did that!

So it was on to Living With The Land and this said a five minute wait, but it did look like it could be longer and I wasn’t surprised when the Cast Member handed me one of those lanyards to measure the time taken until you get on to the ride. The instruction was simple. All I had to do was give it to the Cast Member when we boarded the ride. Only I don’t know what went wrong, but I didn’t do that I think it was the two guys in front of us, who went past the Cast Member and found a row of their own. The CM didn’t see them go past and gave a family of four that row – strangely enough, they had to wait for the next boat, as they couldn’t all squeeze in. Anyway, I think that’s how it happened, as I wasn’t really concentrating. I totally forgot about the lanyard. I found it just before we finished and Mark told me that I should hand it back, but it was a bit late by that point and I figured that it would make a nice souvenir, so I hung on to it. Wrong, I know, but hey, it’s not often that you get a chance like that. As we walked along, Mark kept imitating security alarms going off to tell me that I should’ve handed it in, but I haven’t been caught for my crimes…. Yet!

As we came out of there, Mark spotted Chip and Dale. I don’t know how he does this, but he has this way of seeing characters from miles away. We got in line and a great chat with the Japanese couple behind us, who were on their honeymoon. The girl was obviously a huge Chip and Dale fan, with a bag and toys attached to it. After we had finished with Chip and Dale, I told them that they would like the girl behind us and I was right. They loved here. Mark didn’t do too badly either. They loved his shirt, which had them and Donald on it and the autograph they did said from Mark’s nutty buddies.

We were going to go into Character Connection, but that had closed, so instead it was off to Club Cool to get some liquid refreshment. We tried to get someone to try the Beverly, but sadly they already had. I love the watermelon one in there from China and the ones from Germany, Israel and Japan weren’t bad either.

We were getting near to our Fastpass time for Test Track, so we headed for the Festival Centre, which this year is in the former Wonders of Life pavilion. It’s good to see this used at least, but as we walked round, it was also very odd to see the remnants of the former attractions in there. I just wish that they would either bring this pavilion back into use or get rid of them. It makes a good meeting space for events like this, but to have the attractions still there (or so it seemed to me) is just wrong. It’s also pretty out of the way from World Showcase, which to me, just makes no sense on it being used as the Festival Centre, as everything else to do with the festival is in that end of the park.

Finally, it was time to walk over to Test Track, but as we got there, we knew something wasn’t right, as there was no sound of cars running and when we got closer, sure enough, that was true. All the doors to the attraction were closed and it was definitely down. We went to see a Cast Member about our Fastpasses, as we wanted to make sure that they would work for us. She was doing her usual spiel that they would be good for the rest of the day and, to be honest, I wasn’t convinced that it would be up any time soon, so she signed them to say that they would be good for any time tomorrow.

Next: now what are we going to do for dinner?

Monday 20 October – part five: now what are we going to do for dinner?

We stopped for another couple of Photopass pics as we headed back towards World Showcase:

As we walked through World Showcase, we found Alice in the United Kingdom and just had to get our photo with her:

That done, we walked out and headed back to the room, getting some lovely shots of the sunset on the way back:

We had Narcoosee’s booked for 9.50, but it soon became clear that there was no way we would make that. I think we had finally hit the wall. I started to think about alternatives and then Mark suggested room service. Well, why not? A quick double check and yes, as I thought, it was included on the Deluxe Dining Plan, for two credits. Well, that’s what we would had paid for Narcoosee’s anyway, so that’s fine. We went for the shrimp cocktail for Mark for appetiser and the New England clam chowder for me, then the shrimp primavera for me and the fillet mignon for Mark for entrée.

That was followed by chocolate mousse cake for me and fresh fruit for Mark.

It was a huge indulgence and would’ve come to $130 for the two of us, but it was just what we needed and the food was first class, just like you’d expect from any good signature restaurant.

That’s the beauty about the Deluxe Dining Plan. It allows you to do things that you would never otherwise do, like this. I have really enjoyed having it and would consider it again for a short period of time, so we could sample more signature restaurants without having to worry about the bill.

Food eaten, we watched a bit of CSI Miami and then it was time to turn in.

Total: $212.59
Amount saved on Deluxe Dining Plan: $72.61
Total saving to date: $193.32

Today we walked 5.33 miles
The weather today was hot and sunny in the morning, with more cloud in the afternoon and temperatures in the 80’s.
The best thing today was grazing the booths at the Food and Wine Festival.
The worst thing today was how tired we were in the evening.
Today we tried Segway Central
And the result was it’s a lot of fun and well worth doing.
The most magical moment today was enjoying Stormalong Bay.

Next: would you like a second ride?
