As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Continued for Chewy baby. My sister is also having a problem with her cat (Peanut) who has an ear infection that just won't go away. It's been almost 3 months now.
In the picture where you say you are educating Tommy about something, it looks to me like you are brandishing your fork and saying, "LISTEN, buddy. We have to limit potty breaks to four a day. Don't mess with me, I have plastic utensils and I'm not afraid to use them."
I'm sorry you had to wait on T&K so long, but I'm glad we got to see the resulting BC pictures. Can't wait to hear about AK!

Thanks for all of the laughter. I enjoy reading your (mis)adventures. Hope things work out with T&K. It sounds like you may have to attach "who's shoes" tags on their shoe laces and go on without them. Oh!!! Can't do that they are family. My mom always told me that patience is a virtue. You must be a very virtuous woman judging from what I have read so far. Still waiting for the pics of the fairy fellow and his friend.

Must say though that you take wonderful pictures even when you are bored...(and one day your in-laws will say they had a part in those wonderful extra pictures that you took that came out so great....lol)
Okay, I've had my pictures uploaded for about a week now.....I've got some extra time at work, I'm gonna go ahead and give an update. It won't be nearly as entertaining since I don't have Andy's sick sense of humor to add in. Maybe he'll add something later.....
Anyway... we finally made it to the AK.
We hit up a Photopass guy at the entrance and got a few photos made. I'll post those when I get home later... Once we got in the park Karen was immediately enthralled. Her brain switched to teacher mode and she was totally digging all the CMs standing around with their little critters. Me however, was standing there, not so patiently, saying to Andy that we didn't want to get caught by the AK ploy of distracting people from getting the rides so quickly. C'mon T & K....get with the program. So I jumped up and was like "we'll totally take our time walking through here on our way out..." yeah....that's the ticket....
So we finally came in viewing distance of the tree. And when we did, I could have cried. Behind me came sounds of "Oh my goodness...wow. That's soooo pretty" T & K were totally impressed with the Tree. I immediately got all misty and had to walk ahead a bit to gain my composure
After a few minutes of Karen taking some photos we were headed through Dinoland. On the way we came across Tigger....and my MIL almost freaked out. I know I stood there for a minute in awe. There was my MIL, getting all excited about seeing Tigger! "Ohh, he's just so cute...I was watching the Pooh Christmas special the other night and he was dressed like Santa..and yada yada yada" she just kept going and going It was soooo funny!! So of course, we hopped in line to get our picture with, as I just found out, Karen's favorite character. (Information that would have been nice to know YESTERDAY when we checked in at the BC and told them it was her bday and they asked me who her fav character was But anyway....I love the picture... Her photopass pics are so cute, too. My pic with Tigger is on the photopass CD, too, so I'll post those later. Of course while we were with Tigger, where was T??? In the bathroom of course. I mean c'mon people. It had been like 45 minutes since he last went. It was obviously time for another bathroom break
While we walked through Dinoland I had a major moment of verbal diarrhea and started spouting off everything I knew about that particular area based on what I learned in the Imagineer's Guide...... To which we have my MIL on video saying "Do we have to pay you for this service?" But I think they were totally digging it.
We decided to throw them in head first and go straight for Dinosaur. My MIL has a bad shoulder, almost had to have surgery, so we were afraid she wouldn't ride anything. But she was game, so we were on our way.
Anytime Andy sees me take a picture he has to act like a dork.....
The ride = one word = HILARIOUS! It was so funny to hear T & K laughing and being silly just like us. We totally put Tommy in the "Sucker Seat" as Eileen so wonderfully coined it. When the ride was over we of course got more of the engineering aspect of it as Tommy broke down the fact that he knew he was in a bad spot b/c everything up until that point had happened on the left so he knew something big was going to happen on his side. What a nerd. And then he broke it down for us how they could fit that ride into a small space based on the turns and directions we went...blah blah blah... I lost him somewhere around Triceratop Spin.
We continued on around towards Everest. On the way we were greeted with "TWO MINUTES TILL FINDING NEMO" over and over this lady yelled. We were like "hey, I think it's two minutes till finding nemo...maybe...yea..." Karen made us sit for a picture, but I couldn't shut my mouth. I think I was actually saying "Hey I think it's two minutes till finding nemo" And I'm gonna stop here....b/c it's time to leave....and it's Friday...and I'm outta here I will cont. this evening so that Andy can have input. I know he wants to say some things about our experiences here, too. Good times, good times More to come.....
Great update! And glad T & K are enjoying AK so far. How cute that Karen loves Tigger so much!
