Well, my busy day wound down sooner than expected. I got up around 6:45 and by 7:00ish I was checking for the DLR dining packages. But still no luck!

Shortly Luke was up and we headed out into the neighborhood for our 4-mile walk. When we got back to the house, I had approximately 30 minutes before I needed to leave to make my nail appointment. So what to do? Scrapbook two more pages. My nails were a pretty shade of orange by OPI called Deutsch You Want Me Baby (I love their polish names) by 10:55. Then it was back home to clean up for my volunteer job this afternoon. We had three no-shows so with no clients to help, I ask if I could head home. There really wasn’t enough for the five of us to do. Luke was a little surprised when I arrived home a whole hour early. I used part of that hour to finish the last three pages of our WDW May 2015 album, which Luke has viewed and declared very good. With that job completed, I headed to my closet to pull down my Vera Bradley Grand Traveler bag which will hold all we’ll need for the next two days. I did get my backpack down as well for all our electronics. My stuff is 90% ready; Luke’s not so much. But he’ll be ready by the time we leave in the morning. And now I actually have time to relax between loads of laundry.

No real DLR planning update. But two things I’d like to mention here that have to do with our May trip. Since most of you followed that one, I figured here would be as good as there. First of all, after SuperDave questioned the dollar amount for the Choo Choo refurb, I checked and rechecked my notes as well as searching for the letter we were handed at check in that told us about the refurb. The letter wasn’t in my PassPocket so I assumed I’d just thrown it away. This afternoon as I flipped a map of the hotel over to add adhesive before gluing it down on the scrapbook page, I discovered that the letter was on the back. My tiredness may have been a factor in my writing the amount down incorrectly. But the letter clearly states $8 million not the $8 billion I recorded. about the misinformation.

Second, someone asked if I knew the name of Lilly’s new baby brother, and at the time I did not. Thanks to a Wildlife Wednesday Disney Parks Blog I now know his name. So here is the family tree: Dad – Gino; Mom #1 – Kashata; Daughter – Lilly; Brother – Flint (isn’t that a cool name); Mom #2 – Azizi; Her Son – Cory. Then in today’s Wildlife Wednesday Disney Parks Blog, I learned the names of the three newest baby giraffes, Lincoln, Milo, and Mara (like the restaurant). Here is the link for that blog. It sure has been a while since I posted. But I am all caught up on this TR. Right after the February trip to WDW I took with my daughter, I was told I would be going to DL at the end of June for work purposes. Now for those of you that work in a high school, the end of June is crazy time to say the least. So the timing was B.A.D. However, they needed me to go with our tech director and my boss for some training. It was held at the Disneyland Hotel. How could I complain! It was 6 days of non stop training, but I did manage to get into the park one late afternoon. Here is my take on my experience.

Disneyland hotel is a must see experience, if only for walking through the main lobby and studying all the old original pictures of Walt. I could have looked at them for hours! Then of course, there is Trader Sams. This place is so nice to sit outside on the terrace and listen to the music. Great atmosphere and flatbread pizza.

We ate at Tortilla Joe's not 1x but TWICE. it was really good. Sit outside and people watch! and if you time it correctly, you can see the fireworks pretty much right in front of you as you eat.

When I went into the park (Disneyland not CA) it was sooo crowded but the end of June it is expected I am told. Anyway, the best part for me was not to be aggravated by the crowd level, but rather to "appreciate" being in the same Park that Walt himself created and opened. To walk where he walked was a thrill to me. That was enough to put a smile on my face the whole time! Oh and Pirates and Space Mountain are different that WDW versions and not be missed. I also was able to ride Storybook Canal which was so worth it - again for nostalgia purposes.

Thanks for clarifying the refurb on the Choo Choo as $8 million, although a lot is more realistic than $ 8 billion! I do know the entire DTD project is $2 billion and I couldn't of imagined the amount being spent on that resort.
