A Walk in the Parks: A Cam and Fam TR COMPLETED 12/22/16 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Finally caught up. Love your frog car. The food looks amaaaaazing. Have never been to the F & WF but it is on my list of things to do. Glad your nephew got his steak. And what better place to get it than from Canada. Your photos are great.
Sounds like a perfect combo - cronut, filet and cheese soup! Yummmmm! We stayed at SouthPoint Rd too in OKW!
It was such a good combo! One of our requests was for South Point Rd. so we did get that. We had hoped to be closer to the Hospitality House, but that we did not get. We loved where we were though.

I didn't hear a single complaint from anyone about any of the food choices, so we did quite well.

Thanks! June and I were proud of our frog car. You'll definitely need to get to WDW sometime for the F&WF. It is so much fun. Steak from Le Cellier is always great.
Back in the room, we all rested, napped, did laundry, uploaded photos, and dried out. Our original plan had bee to dine at Via Napoli, but as I mentioned earlier, we canceled that ADR the day before in order to be at Disney Springs in time. Our backup plan had been to take in several more of the food booths at the F&WF. But when the rain came, the backup plan went out the window. Luke and I knew we’d have lots of options once we got to Disney Springs, but we decided back in the room that if the line wasn’t long at Earl of Sandwich that is where were heading. We left room a little before 6:00 to head for Disney Springs. Once we got off at the new, really cool bus stop, we headed into Disney Springs proper. Just a little ways in we found a cool fall photo backdrop, meaning we had to stop for some more family shots. The only thing that might have been cooler would have been to have a PhotoPass photographer here.
I also got a photo of a huge Mickey pumpkin head that was near Earl of Sandwich.
We got very lucky and were practically next in line at Earl of Sandwich. The Vaughns have eaten at one before so on our bus ride over, everyone had discussed what they were most likely getting. When we arrived, the restaurant was not really busy at all. It didn’t take long for all six of us to order, and then June found a table near the fireplace. We took turns filling our drink cups and getting cutlery and napkins. By this point in our trip, my family was already used to the food photos. But tonight they were all in rare form, starting with Morgan who posed with her sandwich as I began photographing dinner. She had The Italian without tomato.
The John had to get in on the act with his Chicken Bacon Avocado Wrap.
Posing with her Quinoa Chicken Salad sandwich, June looks perfectly sweet.
John Paul wasn’t aware of the posing that had preceded him, so initially, he is not in the photo with his Buffalo Chicken Wrap. But then Morgan asked him why he had not posed. Suddenly, he needed a redo with his sandwich.
Across from me was Luke who couldn’t be left how and gave me a big cheesy grin while holding up his own Buffalo Chicken Wrap.
Finally, I handed the camera to Luke so I wouldn’t be left out. My Italian sandwich pose turned out more sweet than silly, but we had ourselves laughing at our own antics.
June found it funny that JP got the same thing as Luke while Morgan and I had gotten the same sandwich. Everyone's sandwiches and salad were perfect. JP couldn’t quite finish his and asked Luke if he wanted the rest. Of course, he did, but it was only about two bites. He did a great job eating a fairly hot sandwich that wasn’t steak.
We had plenty of time to eat without rushing, and afterwards we also had some time to shop. First, we came out of EOS and turned right for Basin. June had asked to shop here as she wanted to get her three co-workers a bar of Dr. Spot. I’ve gotten her one or two on most of our trips because she loves them. She jokes that her family is stain prone, so she keeps Basin in business with these. She has also bragged to her co-workers about how well these work, so it seemed like a great little gift for each of them. All of us were buzzing around the store, checking out all the smell goods, except for JP as you can see from the photo below. We paid for the purchases because of our DVC discount, which I thought meant I would have a list of what else June and Morgan bought. But unfortunately, the receipt was either printed blurry or became blurry in my folder. Besides the Dr. Spot bars, I know they picked up a nail brush, a soap dish, Almond Delight, and some body scrub, but there are two or three other items I cannot make out. June and Morgan are now big fans of Basin.
On the way to World of Disney, some oldies, but goodies were playing in the amphitheater area. Morgan got all excited as thanks to her mom and dad she loves the music of the 70s and 80s. The next thing I knew she was dancing. The photos are a little blurry, but they give you an idea of her dancing. I love her spontaneity.
Eventually, we did make it to World of Disney. We were shopping for Morgan and JP, but they were neither finding much they really liked. So the only thing bought was a pair of sunglasses for JP. Finally, he’d have protection from the sun. As June was heading to the check out, Pam sent a text to me that they had parked in the Orange garage and were at an area between Splitsville and Bongos. We were in four groups at this point. John had left WoD earlier, looking for a lighted Mickey balloon. JP had seen these with a vendor when we entered DS via the bus stop. Somehow he will get lost and be nowhere near the bus stop. Luke was in the restroom where I also needed to go. June and kids were at checkout as I’ve already said. My goal -- to get them all back together. Thankfully, June found me and then I found Luke who directed me to the restrooms. We were reunited with John on our way to Pam and all her family and Daddy. Luke took us by where the balloon vendor was, and John and JP stopped to get that much desired balloon. They quickly caught back up with us. When we reached them, Pam's group was sitting on a wall. Hugs were exchanged and the chatting began. The purpose of this gathering was to meet Richard's girlfriend. Even though it was quite loud here, we spent almost two hours visiting and taking photos. Funny note: at one point Grim Grinning Ghost was playing over the speakers. I quizzed June as to what ride this music was from. Her guess was Frozen Ever After. At some point, I told Luke I was feeling very thirsty, so he was a sweetie and headed into the Wolfgang Puck Grand Café shop to get me a coke. Now join us for a two hour gathering documented in photos taken by several of those gathered there.
On our way back to bus stop, we popped into the Coke Store where I found the cutest giraffe made out of Coke cans, but my souvenir money is all gone so he didn’t get to come home with me. Once at the bus stop we had a short wait for bus ride home, but this one took the longer route to our stop. I think this may be because it was a Disney Springs bus. I didn’t record in my notes when we all went to bed, but I’m pretty sure it was not long after we got back. It had been a long day full of food, fun, and family.
