The Mighty Morphing Birthday Trip - Thread 1 - COMPLETE (last update 7/30) - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The pictures are really, really neat. Great bday present . I've never been to La Nouba, but you guys make me very curious about it. Maybe we'll have to check it out in the future. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip...
just got caught up - your TRs are always fun to read!!
So sorry about your foot! I hope it continued to get better and that you didn't need to be pushed around at all!
I love your dress you wore to dinner! Can I ask where you found it??
I got that at the White House Black Market shop back in April. I needed a nice dress for my DBIL's wedding. I figured I needed to get my money's worth out of it and wear it at Disney

Whoa, Melissa - you're putting me to shame - whizzing right ahead of me with your TR.
And what a fantabulous day. Parasailing, Tea at the GF and the Cali Grill to top it off. Amazing. Sounds like the perfect day.
I love, love, love, your professionally done photos. I truly wish Steve and I had done something like that when we were younger, thinner, Steve had more hair and we were inclined towards public displays of affection.
BTW, Steve was reading your comments on my TR and reminded me that we when we were eating at Cookes of Dublin he had to take Kat to the loo in Raglan Road. So it was Steve and Kat you saw!
Lovin the dual approach TR and the great videos. Keep it comin'.
wow!!! Already so many things done and you haven;t stepped one foot into a park!!!!! We have never eaten at the CG but did have the pleasure of catching wishes from O'Hana one evening...........ANd although I have never seen La NOuba, I have seen a cirque show before and it was amazing!!!!!! Can't wait to hear about your days in the park.................................

The whizzing ahead is due to the Andy always asking "are you gonna do another update???" He's totally into this for some reason!
And with the photos, those are reasons we chose to do to them now We lost our weight and wanted proof And Andy does have a little hair left (sorry baby)... But as for the PDA... I had to be pushed by the photographer to become such a mush in front of others. It's just not in my character to wanna give him a big smooch in a big crowd... I'd rather give him a playful punch to the arm or something That's my way of showing affection...
Just getting caught up Melissa!! What a spectacular time you are having! Those professional pics are absolutely wonderful!! them! Can't wait to read about the rest of your adventures!!
What a fabulous view of Wishes from CG! I am dying to try that place someday. I think that is what I want to do for my 40th birthday! And what a romantic hubby you have for planning such a wonderful suprise for you!

What a magical day! Fantastic way to kick off your trip. Andy! And those professional pictures are terrific. I can't wait to hear about your first day in the parks!

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I'm loving this report! I can just see how much you guys love each other in everything you do. It's neat to see!
And I also LOVE your black and white dress. It's beautiful!
I think I might have seen you guys Thursday evening after Illuminations, but I'll have to wait until you get that far in your report to see if I'm right.
Our morning started out not too early, we had set the wake up call for around 7:30. I was so happy when Andy mumbled that Stitch was still on the other end! Andy got up first (You'll begin to notice that is how our mornings go) and showered and got ready. Then I followed suit. I wasn't really hungry but Andy was so I made him eat my cupcake from tea yesterday. We had brought it back with us because we were so stuffed at tea. I didn't want to leave it in the fridge or throw it away so it made for an oh so nutritious breakfast for my man.
Once we had everything packed back up we loaded up the car, again, and drove around to the lobby to check out. I took a few quick photos of the lobby and then in the foodcourt.
We really liked staying here. Andy has said numerous times that he really liked the grounds, but I'll let him digress on that when he returns... We will definitely stay here again in the future!
Then, it was off to the Wilderness Lodge!!! I was sooo excited! I snapped a photo of us entering the grounds..
And then another of the building as we pulled up...
We pulled up and uploaded our luggage. Before I could even get myself situated with my things (pocketbook, paperwork, passporter...) a CM had opened my door for me and welcomed me home (insert warm fuzzy feeling here). I know I was grinning like a nerd as I bumbled out of the car with all my crap in tow. We had them check our luggage and then Andy went to park the car. If it had been a shorter stay I would have valeted the car... I say hey, if you're going deluxe, go all the way, right? Not for 6 days at $10 a day That's $60 of good shopping (or other use ) money
So while Andy went to park the car I walked up to the entrance doors, almost stepped inside, and then slapped myself for it. I couldn't go in without him!! We had to get first impressions together. So I sat on a bench and called my mom to ohhh and ahhh to her about dinner the night before and what we had seen so far of the lodge. Andy was back pretty quick so I said bye to her with promises of more calls. And then we stepped inside......
And wow! Wowie wow wow! It was spectacular!! I didn't take any photos in the lobby at this time but we do have video. I'll work on uploading that later today so come back for that
We stumbled around like idiots staring up, around, everywhere but where we were going, and then we decided we should get checked in. It was about 9am now and we weren't counting our room being ready yet. We hit that lucky streak yesterday. But lo and behold, we hit it again! Our room was ready for us! We were on the second floor of the north wing overlooking the big pond I think I have read some bad reviews of our room, it was on the very end, right at the elevator. I think I've read some people say that they could hear the elevator and the boat horn bothered them.... but not us We loved it! It was a great, convenient location! Very close to the elevator which is very close to the foodcourt which is very close to the pool which is very close to the boat dock You get the picture. I didn't hear noises from the elevator, and I only heard the horn of the boat when I was awake and I love hearing it anyway b/c it reminds me of where I am
I took a few photos of the room. We had nice little Mickey towel on the bed..
Andy liked the new TV set up there
Then we stepped outside for a minute. Talk about peaceful! And Andy spotted the castle through the trees, and you could see the monorail a little through the trees, and also you could see the Contemporary (we have video of us spotting those things that I'll be uploading as well).
Our luggage showed up to our room shortly after we did. And that was our cue to hit the parks!! I had to make a pit stop at Roaring Forks first to grab a banana. I was beginning to get a little hungry. Then it was off to MGM!
