Looking for ice, pools, and air conditioning! - Complete!! - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry about the rain--but it sounds like you made the best of it! That strawberry shortcake looks amazing!
We actually liked the rain because made things cooler.

Sorry you turned green! I'm glad we're not the only ones who continue even if it was raining.

I don't remember what we ate for dinner but I remember the shortcake because it was so good.
These next 2 pics were from our ride to Trails end.
After our dinner we found our ride back.
This boat was much cozier than the one over. DD ended up next to a boy about her age and they started talking. Talked all the way back to MK. We ended up seeing his family once more in line for BTMR later. DD thought that was cool. Here she is in the midst of her conversation with the boy.
Our view of the Castle when we got back in the park.
Up next: our evening at MK.

We took a few pictures on the way in, heading for Tomorrowland.
First up CoP, I love this - it reminds me of when I was a kid watching WWOD or visiting Disneyland. DD really liked it too which pleased me. We got to see push for a few minutes which I thought was fun. Had never seen him before. Next we rode TTA, such a relaxing ride.
Bro & DD made a pit stop while I sat and watched people and there was a performer (also shown on a big screen) I listened to and these trees caught my eye.
Once Bro & DD returned we made our way to Monsters, INC. This was a first for all of us and it was fun. Bro was picked as Sully, so the rest of the trip we joked he was Sully the Rebel Spy (was the ST spy yesterday). These made the trip very magical for Bro and us, characters during the AK parade shook his hand (a first) and he was picked for 2 shows, he really got a kick out of being chosen.
Since we didn't see Philharmagic this afternoon - I really wanted to see it since I had heard so many good things about the show - that was next. As we crossed back over the bridge we stopped for a photo.
We loved Philharmagic! I wish we had got to see it again before we left, oh well there's always next time.
Another ride on BTMR before we went to look for a spot to watch Electrical parade. ( I was so looking forward to Spectromagic (if that's the right name) since there was so much positive about it but Disney switched to ELP before we went.) I do have a soft spot for this parade. I was 16 (1976) the first time I saw it at DL with my Aunt, parents, Bro & DS. It was so magical and like nothing I had every seen before. The memory of watching that parade with it's lights and music stayed with me all of my life and the two times I've seen it again DLR (2008) & WDW (2011) took me back to that first time I watched this parade.
We found a sidewalk to sit someplace in adventureland. I went for snacks and drinks for DD and me. Then Bro went to find what he wanted. We enjoyed our snacks and the parade. I wanted to leave the park before the crush of people headed out after the fireworks since we were doing the Wishes dessert party on Sunday. Bro led the way but as we passed the flying carpets there was no one in line so we decided to catch a quick ride (first for all of us). It was ok, even DD wasn't that impressed (maybe because it was late, had been a long day and she was tired.) We made it about halfway down main street, through the crowds when the fireworks started. So we're still making our way out but kept stopping to oooh and aaaah. We ended our day by riding the ferry once again, here are our last couple of pics.
A little blurry, but only had little digital camera. Pretty view to end a great day.
Up next: mini golf & DQ.

Happy 26th wedding anniversary to my Bro!
We slept in... had breakfast in our room which we had been doing all along. Got ready and was on our way to try mini golf. We we got there we picked the wrong one, it was the harder one. DD had some trouble because she wanted to do well and got upset when she didn't. We told her it was just for fun and we wouldn't even keep score. Although Bro plays regular golf and kept track of his and my score on the sly. Here he is checking out the lay of the next hole.
DD had just hit the ball.
I was out of the place first and laid down on a bench enjoying the sunshine waiting for Bro & DD when notices this view so snapped a pic.
Waiting for the car to cool off.
Bro wanted to take us out to a lunch or dinner since we brought him on this trip and sil had raved about Rainforest Cafe when she was here in April so that's where we headed next because we were going to spend the afternoon at DQ.
DD checking out the aquarium.

DD had onion rings and a milkshake (her ice cream for the day). I remember Bro had a salad and something (but not what - memory is slipping. I had a burger which was good. Sil told me I had to check out the RR while I was there. So I made a potty run. Took this guys pic on the way there.
The RR is so entertainingI took several pics. Here are a couple.
Here's me taking a pic. There was a lady who gave me a 'look' probably thought I never left home before. I had fun anyway.
We browsed the gift shop afterwards. DD got an elephant toy.
