Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I missed a couple of updates somehow. The Mad Hatter is always funny wherever I see him. The Aladdin show is great, isn't it? I'm glad you took so many pictures of the Snow White display because it was gone by the time I went on my trip. Hope to read more soon!

Thanks, everyone!

Hey everyone! Remember me? Your TR guide, with pathetic TR writing habits? With life being so full (Isn’t everyone’s?) and trying to stay current with everyone else’s TRs, I just haven’t been able to get this thing finished. With me being so intermittent, I decided not to post anymore until I finished the whole thing offline. You will be happy to know that I have finished all the installments, with the exception of my final thoughts. I’ve been squeezing out some time, while in the in-school suspension room one period per day – sometimes only writing for 5 minutes at a time due to the nature of some of the characters assigned on any given day. In any event, I’m ready to bang this thing out! It still feels like we were there just yesterday and I hope you enjoy the tail end of our time there, as much as I have enjoyed reliving it as I have been writing it!

That place really was amazing! I can still picture DH’s face as he turned around and looked at me, when he was in Beast’s library. It was hard to believe. It felt like we had been plopped in the middle of the movie!

Can't wait to hear more about your DCA adventure...

Todd! The animation building is located in DHS in the Animation Courtyard area. To get there, you would have to go down the ramp to the left of the stairs behind the Sorcerer’s Hat, take a right and go past Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The Animation Building is the next building on the left side. It’s certainly worth a visit, but the one in DCA certainly puts it to shame!

Snow White is one of my favorite Disney films, so I really enjoyed spending the time taking that all in. The Sorcerer’s Workshop was kind of tucked off to the side and could have easily been missed. I remember telling the boys, “Let’s go check out what’s over there.” I never imagined what we were going to find in there! What a wonderful surprise!

Melissa! I know the feeling on blocked websites! Fortunately, my school has yet to block photobucket. I can view some of PassPorter and can only respond in forums if I am somehow connected to a neighbor’s wireless service – depends on what my computer finds on any given day. It can be very frustrating, especially since I only access it during break time – I guess it’s those few bad apples that ruin it for the rest of us

Thursday, February 21 - Day 7/Part 5

Now playing: Kyle achieves celebrity status!!

Thursday, February 21, 2008 – Day 7/Part 5

Soooo…where to next?!?

We decided to check out a bug’s land during the daylight hours. We had seen mostly everything over there the other night, but we wanted to check out It’s Tough to Be a Bug. Kinda lame for an update title, but this was our something small.

Just outside a bug’s land, Jedidiah and the 49-ers were performing. We stayed to watch them for a bit.

I also took a photo of the small orange ‘grove’ just across from where they were performing. I thought it was kind of neat to see actual oranges growing in the middle of a theme park.

Once we were finished watching Jedidiah and his friends, we headed into ITTBAB.

The queue for ITTBAB is quite different as it isn’t snaked around a tree, as is the one in AK. The inside of the holding area was somewhat similar, with ‘bills’ lining the walls. I took some photos of the ‘bills’, however, they didn’t come out as well as the ones in WDW due to the sheen & the ripple effect on each one. Here are just a few:

The actual show was the same, but it was still great fun! Creepy crawlies all over the place!

We finished up there and then made our way over to Paradise Pier, so Jeffrey could conquer California Screamin’.

We arrived at California Screamin’ to find a relatively short wait, so Jeffrey headed off to ride. Kyle found a bench for us, while I went to get FPs with our 2 tickets, just in case Jeffrey thought Kyle would like it. Kyle and I sat and people watched; it was quite chaotic in the area since there really was only one way in and one way out due to the construction of TSM. I took a couple of photos of the signage, but that was about it. After that I just scrambled Kyle’s cube, when he needed it scrambled. Despite the slight chaotic feel, it was still nice to just sit there and take it all in.

We saw Jeffrey ‘take off’ on the ride and he rejoined us soon afterwards. He thought Kyle would enjoy it, but we decided to take in dinner first. Jeffrey and Kyle went in search of pizza, while I went to get my sourdough bread bowl with New England clam chowder. We met up at the outside picnic area that was completely deserted – we were the only ones over there. The boys arrived at the area well before I did as the line for the bread bowls moved sooooo sloooowwwww. The boys their pizza, I liked the bread bowl well enough, but I think I should have gone with the broccoli & cheddar soup instead. New England clam chowder just isn’t the same outside of New England. Not quite sure what I was thinking.

By the time we finished eating, the boys’ FPs were ripe for California Screamin’. So, they headed over there, while I stayed at the table and called my dad to get the Red Sox report! I always enjoy talking with my dad about our favorite subject, so we talked for quite a while. We talked about our trip, as well, but the Red Sox did dominate the conversation. He was filling me in on a lot of the Spring Training happenings.

It wasn’t too long before the boys returned. The boys had another new ride they wanted to take in at DCA: Mulholland Madness. I opted out and decided to go with the more mild Golden Dreams. It was starting to drizzle while I was waiting to go in, but I was in before long and was treated to a wonderful hidden treasure. I didn’t remember reading anything about this attraction prior to our trip, but I was so glad I decided to do this! It was pretty much about the history or California and Whoopie Goldberg was the narrator. There were lots of amazing effects using her face and making the walls come to life. I was very sad to hear recently that this attraction will soon be extinct (if it isn’t already). Sadness.

When the show finished, I found the boys by a fence just outside the exit. It had been raining a bit more steadily, but not a driving rain or anything. Anyway, I told them that they missed a really good show, but they did returned with an even better story. Kyle’s Rubik’s skillz were quite the topic of conversation, while they were waiting in line. Apparently, there were two girls in line that thought this was the greatest thing. In the end, the two of them asked to have their photograph taken with Kyle! Kyle gladly posed with them.

Of course I immediately asked him if he asked them if they had MySpace pages, since he was in his glory. My two boys just He did go on to call one of his friends to tell him about this. His friend told him he didn’t know that a Rubik’s Cube could be a ‘chick magnet’ and immediately decided that Kyle needed to teach him how to solve one.

We still had our FPs for Soarin’, that we had picked up in the morning, so we headed over in that direction. We used our FPs without a problem, which again confirmed it was okay to use a FP after the expiration as long as it is on the same day. After flying over California, we made our way to the front of the park, across the esplanade and into DL to find a spot to view the Parade of Dreams.

We enjoy watching Spectromagic from the top of train station in the MK, so we thought we’d give that a try. There was next to no one there, so we found a spot on a bench and settled in. We quickly learned that the woman next to us was certifiable. I think the family on the other side of her were feeling the same way. I was directly to her left, but managed to NOT establish eye contact and maintain conversation with my own family, so as not to get pulled into her insanity. (I had enough of getting pulled into insanity every day at work). I quietly observed, while laughing hysterically on the inside.

With all of the entertainment, the time passed quickly. Unfortunately, DL announced that the Parade of Dreams was going to be cancelled due to the ground being wet and the safety risks it posed to the performers. They did announce, however, that the Parade of Dreams would be replaced with Mickey’s Rainy Day Cavalcade. They made it sound interesting and we figured we shouldn’t miss such a unique opportunity. Most of the area cleared out including our entertainment. So, we waited with the other family for Mickey’s Rainy Day Cavalcade, while they announced its arrival over…and over…

Up Next: So, what exactly IS Mickey’s Rainy Day Cavalcade? (You won’t want to miss this installment! )

Great to see you writing again! I think I know what the Rainy Day Cavalcade is, as apparently they do it in Hong Kong Disneyland too - I remember seeing photos of it in our DVC magazine. As for Golden Dreams, sadly it was already closed by the time we visited in October.

Hey!, I almost fell over when this popped up in my email list. I'm glad you're back writing. Kyle looks pretty cool between those two beauties!

Great update, Dyan! Can't wait to find out about this "rainy day thingy".

Yay! So happy to see another update (and to know that more are coming soon). I was wondering why the heck you ordered the NE clam chowder. That's like me getting pizza outside NY. Too funny that the Rubik's cube is turning into a chick magnet.
