Always Let Your Stomach Be Your Guide - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OK, I am going to, because I just can't help it! That just looked inappropriate. But hopefully it was delicious. I used to live in Stuttgart Germany, and the food there is YUMMY! I've got to say, though, I never remember seeing anything like that.

Sounds like you had a great last day, well maybe to short. That is a great picture of the Great Movie Ride. I don't think I've ever seen that side?? So sad your trip is over.
We were so sorry to see you go! Next year you are going to have to spend the whole week with us! Which reminds me--I need to start working on dates for next year . . . I should have already made a room reservation--I'm slacking.
*sad* Hate to see this ending - I always love your TR's! I hope next fall our trips overlap... I'm not sure if I'm going over fall break or not. I'm debating doing a long weekend early in the F&WF run, so as to miss the big crowds that fall break brings. I'm just not sure. So much to decide!!

A great last day (minus the leaving part), and a great trip over all! Can't wait for the next one, which, being you, isn't that far away! And DL this time!
Nice last day you had with some PP friends Loved this trip report Sharon as all the F&W food pictures helped me to relive my trip in October Looking forward to your final thoughts! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!
Sounds like a great final day! You captured the table we sat at for dinner in October in your second dining room shot of Kouzzina. Looking forward to final thoughts.
I'm not Sharon but I can answer that for you. (Whaaat?! Sharon knows I was gonna answer anyway!)
RAC is "Resort Airline Check-in" and it allows you (if you're on one of the participating airlines) to check your bags at the resort for your return flight. You don't have to shlepp them to the airport or check-in there -- it's all done from the relative comfort of the resort.
What?! DisneyLAND merchandise? That is soooo wrong!!! Blimey! (as Ron would say, but wait, I don't think you'll understand that reference! )
Anyway, that sounded like a wonderful last day. Glad you got to spend it with some fellow PP's. And your weather mojo held out for ya. Sorry Heather and Brandon!

Oh I am so sad that your trip has come to an end! Can't you make your trips endless? I am sure Disney would pay you to just play all day and write trip reports at night.
Thanks again for all the great comments. I hope all my American PPer friends had a nice Thanksgiving. I did, and I had a very busy weekend after the big day. I'd hoped to post my final thoughts on Friday, but I was occupied with lots of other stuff. I'm sort of panicking now that Christmas is practically here and I've got lots going on! Luckily, having four days at home helped a lot, and I'm no longer in panic mode. But I haven't even pulled out the Christmas decorations, much less done any decorating. But let's not talk about that right now, mmmkay?

All your choices at F&W look good! I enjoyed the cheese selection, but ick to the honey-covered cheese. How great to fit in more PP meets with Holly and Evan (adorable!) and Heather and Brandon. I just filled out my post-visit survey for BWV and they got an earful on the resort-specific issue! I'll be so mad if, when I finally get to DLR again, all I see is generic "Disney" stuff, or, worse, WDW stuff!
I plan to inspect the merchandise at DL soon, so I can let you know.

The photos of Kouzinna are beautiful. We've yet to eat there, but it's on the to-do list. I agree that the sausage/pretzel roll ratio looked a little off. Frankly, I'd be a little self-conscious about eating that big sausage in public.
Looking forward to your final thoughts!
Happy Thanksgiving!
It is a little awkward eating that sausage. I tend to quickly bite off the ends so there's not so much... I don't know how to finish that sentence without it sounding dirty, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I didn't even bother to ask, because I knew you'd know and tell me! Is it relatively easy to grow? I don't have your green thumb, but I do remember to water my plants.

I can't believe it was DLR specific merchandise at WDW! It's bad enough now that they have so many combined DLR/WDW items, but the "other" park's stuff? Ugh!
I'd really be curious to know if they've actually surveyed people to ask them how much MORE they'd be spending if they offered more resort specific or park specific items. I know I for one would be spending way more for things that I can ONLY get at that park. I suppose I should thank Disney for letting me save my money...!
I don't feel sad when my TR comes to an end. In fact, because I so often am heading right back out when my TR ends, I actually get very happy when I finish my TR! It's almost a Pavlovian response! And as often as I go, I don't buy much, because the merchandise is tooooooo generic.

I liked seeing that view of the GMR. You usually don't see that in photos, which is why I took the pic! Glad you like it.

I need to get on that as well! DM wants to go Columbus Day weekend so she won't have to take off much time from work. We'll probably go then.

I think we're going to do a trip around Columbus Day weekend (if we can get in at the BWV).

No clue who Ron is. Is he from Kim Possible? That's the only Ron I can think of, but I never really watched the show. I know he used to be a character you could meet at the Studios, though.
