As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I remember you purchasing this and thinking "that's a lot of money", but my goodness, you did get a lot of bang for your buck with this tour. I've been reading it thinking "that's probably it" for the last couple of instalments and no, it's carried on. I'm really impressed by how much they packed into this, even though I know it's not something I'd ever do.
You certainly get a lot for your money and I felt it was well worth the cost. Our guide Jarrarie was exceptional and made the experience of this event and tour so much better! I still have one more update for my Halloween Horror Nights experience.

Glad you are enjoying the photos even though just three on this last update. There will be much more photos than this on my final update for my Halloween Horror Nights evening. I enjoyed this tour so much and definitely worth the money. I'm sure I'll go to USF within a few years and most certainly in October for this event and will do the tour!

I was a bit skeptical about this tour before booking it with the price, but glad I did as it was so worth it! It was actually Sara here (the one Cheryl refers to as the evil travel agent) recommended that I go this route in a thread I started about the Halloween Horror Nights experience. I agree with Cheryl with the evil part as Sara gets you to spend more money, but for more enjoyment to enhance your travel experience! All in a good way as I used her services when booking my first Disney cruise on The Magic back in 2015.

I'm in agreement with the others that you certainly got your money's worth this night!
I guess we have a good consensus here with 5 Passporters overwhelming agreeing that I got a good bang for my buck! Just so worth it and an amazing time and overall experience with a great and well versed guide who was so informing and provided so much information, insight, humor and suspense to the tour! I definitely plan to attend this event in the future and certainly with the R.I.P. Tour!
The tour was $200 and money well spent. The price varies depending on which night you book this for. It's cheaper in September as much hotter with smaller crowds and not close to Halloween yet. Mine was mid-range even though in October on a Thursday night as not the most crowded days for the event. Friday and Saturdays are most expensive as well as the last couple of weeks leading up to Halloween. Not sure how much the most expensive days were.

It was definitely worth it and glad I went this route! Having no waits at the haunted houses was a big plus. Got to see and do so much in a few hours.

You got an amazing amount of stuff for $200. I thought it would cost more especially with everything that was included. Pretty amazing experience for those that like scary stuff.
There was a lot packed in for the evening and got to experience so much on this tour. It was well worth it. I like scary stuff and movies but don't like slasher movies.

Just thought I'd give you all a bit of info on how I do these and whether those of you who write TRs do it in the same way or close to this.Just some more insight and details into my TRs as I love doing these immensely!
I usually do one each Sunday and always written up in one shot as I have more time than during the week!
I generally do my mid-week TR writing in two parts (two days after work) as I don't have the time after work to do in one night. I specifically do this from my notes as well as following my photos at the same time, which gives me a great thing to go on by following my day in order. Once it's written up I edit the TR in Word and then copy it to my TR. During the write up the photos are copied to my TR in Word.
Once I open my TR on the PP Forum, I make sure all prose is in bold type and change most of the color to navy blue. I only use this color for my updates. It's my favorite color plus good for the reader as it attains your interest and makes easier reading. Then I add my emoticons to make the reading experience better when necessary, but will admit that I probably have too many of these! Once, that is completed my update gets posted, but I'm not done yet! I edit my post and check the spacing between photos and paragraphs and there are always several of them with too much spacing between each paragraph and photos and I correct these. Then my TR post is complete!
Unfortunately, as much as you'd like to be the case our TRs aren't the number one priority in our lives! But we'd like them to be as we enjoy doing these so much and sharing our travel experiences with all the great Passporters here. Well, that's the way I feel about it!

It's really interesting to read how you do your trip reports, as mine are very different! The whole thing is 99% written while we're away as close to the time things happen as possible and usually no more than a day or so later. Occasionally, I realise I have so much to write I can't do that, so I only do notes (I did that for the behind the scenes tour we did this trip) and then come back to finish them. Then when I get back to real life, I only have to upload my photos, add those in (that takes long enough!) and check anything - occasionally I will do a note to myself to check something, as I don't take the time to do it during the vacation.
So glad you enjoyed your tour so much Dave as it's definitely worth the money if you had fun! Although I've never written my own trip report on PP, I enjoyed reading how you put together your TR's. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting as we both do our TRs different, but both quite organized. I write up my notes when I return from the parks if I have break during the day or at the end of the night. Some of this I'll do the next morning after breakfast before heading out. The notes are done in a memo pad and in order and seems to work and always including a lot of the details I may forget if I didn't do this like the specifics of meals.

It was a great tour and so worth the money I spent on it. I had an amazing time and would do it again! Doing the TRs is all about organization and what is most comfortable for you.

The way that works best for me, and I've actually tried several different methods, is to write up notes in a notebook small enough to carry in my bag during our park touring. When waiting in lines or taking a break, I pull it out and jot down what all we've done since the last update. It's a mix of bulleted items, sentences to recall vivd moments, and notes to self. I type up the updates from my notes and photos on the day I intend to post. Photos I edit prior to starting the TR, but they aren't uploaded to flickr.com until right before I need to post them.
Just got caught up. I have to add to the list of PP's that agree , you did get a lot of bang for your buck in the tour. I enjoyed hearing about all of the house of horrors!
As for TR writing, I do write mine in Word first and copy paste over and then insert my pictures. It does take a lot of work (I know that now).
