The happiest place on Earth for 28. (TR) - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes, the whole business with Photobucket is a real pain. Which site did you find to use?
It's called Postimage.org. but I logged in on my laptop and cannot see the photos in the post, I can on my desktop where I uploaded them, can you see the pictures?

I was really impressed with how easy it was to arrange rides and it made such a difference to not have to stand for hours.

I'm still using Photobucket as they gave me a good deal for the photo hosting. Much better than the $399 a year. It's for $99 a year with the hosting and plenty of storage. I got a prorated rate one as I had a storage subscription and ad free subscription prior to getting this one. So the first year will only cost me $52.

Glad you got the scooter and that you could get a return time for rides without waiting. Great photos by both of you. I especially like the flower photos.

She has an 'eye' for non people photos. I will certainly get to that.

I am so glad I decided to get the scooter as it made such a difference in getting around. I am partial to the flower pictures myself.
I'm glad to see you posting again (and also super excited to hear that you plan on writing a TR for your Europe trip)!
Great photos! Your DD has a good eye, and I also love the flower photos!
thanks! She does have a good eye. She took many of the photos we have in Europe and you will understand why once we start report. DD wants to help with TR for Europe. Will probably have 1st post on that Monday (19th.)
I was interested in seeing the magic map show so that's what we did next. I didn't want to ride right away after eating.
I think we rode IASW . I'm not sure when we got these in the days order but here are the pics.
DD's Cupcake
DD's ears fell down
And mine, although I had to scrape off most of frosting because it was too much for me.
We made our way over to BTMR and got a time to return. We poked around in some shops and then went on BTMR.
Next we made our way to pirates, it took a bit to figure out where the exit was so I could enter and there was a fairly long line of scooters. We waited our turn then went on our sailing adventure.
Upon leaving i was looking for the place with Benits (don't know how to spell it) but here's a picture.
Also got a Mint Julep (non alcoholic)
We both liked the desert but neither of us liked the drink, in fact I think we dumped most of it so I know never to order one of those again.
We went on HM and enjoyed the ghosts once again.
We went back to BTMR and our return time was only 20 minutes so we found a bench for DD nearby and people watched while we waited. After our train ride we went to Winnie the Pooh.
By the time we had gotten this far with only 2 desert snacks for lunch I need actual food and this was close by, so off we went.
my dinner
By the time we came out from dinner it was dark, cloudy, and due to a breeze felt cold. I was on the tired side and although we had talked about the fireworks, if you don't remember they were cancelled the first day we were here so didn't see them from the park although we did see them one night as we were returning to the hotel. We had had a great day and I was ready to return to our room, especially since we had to catch our ride to the airport at 4 AM. DD agreed, but only if she could get ice cream on the way out. We meandered our way to main street where people were already crowded on the sidewalks in preparation for paint the night. I waited outside while she went in but it was taking forever. so finally i parked the scooter out of the way as much as possible - to go in and check on her and found her close to ordering, there were about 5 people ahead of her. The line had been really long. In about 2 minutes she placed her order so I waited and we walked out together only to find the scooter gone! I had the key so I didn't think anyone would steal it but didn't know where it went. We found a CM nearby and asked. She said that it was probably moved out of the way and told us where to look. We went that direction and found it (they had to of pushed it all the way there) about 3 buildings down in this fenced area, way at the back of a bunch of other scooters. It took some doing but I got it out of there and we carefully made our way down Main street though all the crowds. We got out the gates, returned the scooter and began the slow process of walking back to the hotel. It was slow because I had to stop several times to sit and rest.
Finally back at the hotel, we finished packing - i made trip notes and we went to sleep after setting my alarm for 3:15.
In the AM I got ready, gathered everything, woke up DD at 3:45 and drug her to the front of the hotel where the shared van was supposed to meet us.
Took this pic while we were waiting.
It's really quiet at 4 in the morning.
I got a text that the driver was running late and wouldn't be there until about 4:20. We picked up one other person, dropped her off on our way to Burbank (also called Bob Hope) airport. When we arrived, a little shop had opened so I got tea for me, cocoa for DD and a bagel to share while we waited. Finally, we boarded and found a full flight so I'm glad it was only 2 hour and 20 minute flight. I think we took a nap later in the day as we were tired!.

Great final day and the two of you certainly got a lot in with the attractions, snacks and much more! Very odd with your scooter being moved but for obvious reasons but I'd be going out of my mind a bit and not being able to find it right away! Glad you asked a CM where it was and hope you weren't too worried about it.

I was a bit freaked out and relieved when we found it.

If I had of thought about it, I can understand with everyone crowding about for the parade and CM's wanting to keep what little bit of side walk they could open but definitely gave me a little scare when it went missing.
I'm sorry to see this trip come to an end, but I'm also looking forward to your Europe trip report starting....
I enjoyed this trip more than I thought even with chaperone bickering. DD and I are looking for to the Europe TR too!
You got a lot done this day, and had some yummy looking snacks. My DD and I tried that mint julep drink too, and we didn't like it either.
Well I'm glad we were not the only ones who didn't like it. DD is more picky but I will try most anything. The drink looked so fresh and pretty but did not taste that way
I love beignets, and though I live in Kentucky where Mint Juleps are closely associated with the Kentucky Derby, I've never had one and don't have plans ever to have one.
