As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

It seems that you have gotten all your little "ducks" in a row. Glad you were able to get everything lined up with basically 1 phone call even if to different CMs to arrange all the details. So glad the CM was so patient - it is always the case with JB too that the moment I need to be on the phone that it is the moment he wants all my attention! Don't give up on the resort yet - I know people are rearranging a lot of ressies due to the promo.
Looks like it has all come together as you've done a great job planning this trip!

I'm checking a few times a day at this point. If I don't see an opening soon, however, I'm perfectly content now to stay at ASM. The idea has grown on me a bit.

I just went back through my 2013 PTR because I was trying to find something. I had to come and post here...thank you everyone. I had forgotten how dark and scary life was before we had a full diagnosis for David, and how every day was a struggle just to stay afloat. Having all of you to talk to kept me sane in a really rough time.
I was in tears reading through everything, not just because of how I could see through my writing how much I was struggling, but because through all of it, you were all there commenting and encouraging and cheering me on and cheering David on.
And we are in such a better place now. Life isn't perfect, but life is 100x better than it was three years ago. Reading through that rather miserable PTR has made me realize just how far we've come and how much better David is doing these days...even on his worst days, he's doing better than he was back then.
So, hope this isn't too weird, thanking all of you three years after the fact. But, seriously. Ya'll are great!

I'm happy to hear that you are all in a better place now. Passporters are definitely our own "little" supportive family who are always there to listen & give support when needed. Glad to know the PP family helped you see through those dark days - I know checking in on the boards and talking with you all keeps me sane as I chase after toddlers or fight through a migraine. Keep positive & don't forget to keep us updated on that new little one. I love hearing about our future mouseketeers.
it's nice when you can look back at darker days and see how far you've come. The same is true for us. When we were going through some difficulties a few years ago someone gave me a hug and said "This too shall pass." I thought, no, never. But, sure enough, things do get better. Sometimes they get worse before they get better, but they do eventually get better!
So glad you are experiencing happier days!
It genuinely makes me happy that you and David and the girls are doing so much better now. I believe one of the absolute best things about PassPorter is the support its members give so freely to each other whether here or on Facebook. We are a big circle of friends.
Glad you were able to get the ressies at Harmony Barber Shop for the girls. Now the waiting for that 60 day FP begins!

I definitely will! I have an appointment with my midwife on the 5th and can hardly wait to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time!!

It was so hard back then, and I had forgotten just how hard. I knew things were better now, but reading the PTR really illustrated the improvement between then and now for me. David finding a good company to work for that respects him as a human being and a vital part of their team has helped a lot, along with a new team of doctors and a great therapist, a correct diagnosis, and the right medication for him. It's a night and day difference. I'm sorry you went through some rough times too, but glad that you have also found the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm so sorry, I somehow missed this comment earlier when I was replying to people...maybe we were typing at the same time.
Anyway, thank you. Your prayers and pixies and hugs were very frequently sprinkled throughout my last PTR. Everyone on PassPorter truly is so kind. I really enjoy being here.
I am glad you are able to see how better things are from just 3 years ago. Another reason PP is so wonderful!
What special memories you will make at BBB with your oldest. Wonderful idea for some mommy/daughter time.
Don't give up on POP just yet! When free dining was released we had to switch to ASMusic as well. I checked every day since then for an opening at our original resort, Coronado Springs, and was finally able to switch back this weekend.
