As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a day! Sorry everything was so rough for both you and David. I hate to say it, but I'm glad you caved to Davids requests. No the wheelchair isn't the most classy and I completely understand why you didn't want to use it, but you needed to get off those feet. Hopefully it helped you enjoy the rest of your trip and not be in so much pain. When I was pregnant with Mallory I had a bit of a scare and was told I had to stay off my feet. That was 2 days before our State Fair which I LOVE and refused to miss. Nate made me rent an EVC (it would have been a wheelchair, but he had to push Cameron in the stroller). I reluctantly did and in the end I was happy with it. We got to see much more of the fair than we would have gotten to if I hadn't had my sweet ride.
I shouldn't have fought him so long, but it seemed like such a "silly" thing to "waste" money on when I was "perfectly fine walking." Oh, the lengths we go to convince ourselves we don't need help.

Thanks again, everyone, for the pixies!
Toby made it through his surgery like a champ. They had to leave his chest open for four days in order to allow the swelling to go down, but that was actually less time than they expected. He is still in the Cardiac NICU at Children's Hospital, but the doctors are talking about moving him out of ICU tomorrow! He is down to one IV and only 6 medications (down from like...I think they said four IV's and 20 some-odd medications/fluids?).
My SIL and Brother got to hold little Toby for the first time in 9 days yesterday, and I am going in to hopefully be able to hold him tomorrow. This has been very emotional for all of us, and I am hoping that we'll blink and he'll be at home with Jake and Amy screaming for food and having so many messy diapers they won't know what to do with him. I love the little guy so much and can't wait to get to know him. Continued pixies are appreciated.

Day 13 - Animal Kingdom, DHS, and One Cheesy Pretzel Craving Fulfilled!
I am ashamed to admit that this is the last day that I took notes on our trip. So after today, I am trying to re-create things from a combination of my memory, pictures, and my Twitter account. Just a warning!
We woke up at 10 this morning, and were out the door at about 11:45. We caught a bus to AK by 12.
After we picked up our wheelchair, we made our way over to Pizzafari for lunch. I ordered cheese, David had pepperoni, and we both had a Coke to drink. After lunch, David wanted to go ride Everest using the SRL. I didn't want to see anything in the park, and obviously I couldn't ride Everest, so I told him to go ahead and go, and I would stay at our table and catch up on notes. The restaurant wasn't busy (there were at least ten empty tables just in the room we were sitting in), so I wasn't in anyones way, and David wouldn't have to push me all the way over there just so I could be in the way in the shop while he rode the ride.
I expected to have to wait a half hour to 45 minutes, but he was back in 20 minutes, and he'd ridden twice! SRL must be awesome.
He offered to take me over to the Conservation Station, but I decided that I wasn't interested at the moment. The plan was to head back to the resort and then go back to Epcot later that afternoon, but I was tired of being in the hotel room, so I suggested *dun dun dun* a deviation from the plan! (Lol, this is a big deal. I'm a little bit obsessive about our touring plans. Type A and all that.) I said that we should head to DHS so that David could ride his coasters and I could see One Man's Dream and maybe catch the Indiana Jones show.
It started to rain as we got to Hollywood Studios again. I blame Kelly...she passed on her curse!
We went to get my wheelchair, and the CM standing there called out "We have precious cargo on this one!" It made me smile, she was so sweet.
We headed down Sunset Blvd and saw that there was a 10 minute wait for Tower of Terror. I told David to park me by a bench and go have fun. I did ask him to leave the umbrella in case the sprinkles turned to a downpour. I worked on my notes, but he was back in no time.
Next was RnRc, where David parked me again by some bushes and went off to do his thing. I watched some geckos fighting in the bushes...I probably looked crazy, sitting there in my wheelchair, smiling and laughing while I looked at a bush. (The geckos were fighting over some sort of morsel they considered food.)
I munched on a Luna bar while I waited, since I hadn't really enjoyed my pizza earlier and was still hungry. When the geckos stopped fighting I started people watching. (My favorite downtime activity!)
David eventually returned to claim me () and we headed over to One Man's Dream. I wanted to see the model of the Fantasyland Expansion. It was so cool! I can't wait until everything is opened up over there.
We checked the wait time on Backlot Tour, but decided 20 minutes was too long of a wait, so we headed to Star Tours so that David could ride that again.
While David was inside riding that, it started to rain a little harder, so I pulled out my umbrella. This little boy thought I was absolutely fascinating, sitting there in the rain in my wheelchair with an umbrella. He kept looking at me, tugging on his dad's hand, and pointing over at me. Finally his dad shrugged and said something and turned towards me to watch as the little boy came over to me.
"Whatcha sittin' in the rain for?"
"I'm waiting for someone."
"Why'd they leave you all alone?"
"He wanted to ride a ride that I can't ride right now because I'm pregnant."
His eyes got wide. "You gonna have a baby?"
"Yep."
"Right now?"
I laughed. "No, it's not quite time yet."
He thought about that for a minute. "Are you having a girl baby or a boy baby?"
"I'm having a girl."
"Are you going to name her Princess Leia?"
Oh. My. Gosh. I wanted to take this kid home with me! He was the cutest little guy! Bright red hair and freckles, maybe five years old.
"No, I'm going to name her Briana."
"Oh. I have to go now. Are you okay by yourself? I don't like being by myself."
"I'm okay, because I got to talk to you."
He blushed. "Well...okay. I hafta go! Bye!"
And then he turned around and ran back to his dad. I smiled and waved at his dad, and his dad smiled and kind of shrugged and gave me this look like "Kids! What're you gonna do?"
It was the sweetest thing!
I was hungry again when David came out of the ride, so I asked him if we could go get a pretzel with cheese before we went to watch the Indiana Jones show. He agreed, so off we went, zooming along like we had somewhere to be.
We went to one of those little kiosk/booth things they have near Pixar Place and waited for ten minutes in line to get a pretzel with cheese. We got up to the counter and found out the guy was out of cheese. So David wheeled me over to another stand, but they didn't have pretzels. So at this point, my blood sugar was low and my pregnancy hormones were kicking in.
I was grumpy.
So when David asked me where I wanted to try next, I had a mini-meltdown and told him "Nowhere. Forget it. I don't want to mess with it anymore. Let's just go to the show."
He knew better than to argue with me at that particular moment, so he made a quick pit stop and I sat fuming about inept snack stands that couldn't keep their darn cheese in stock for pregnant women who had cravings.
But while I was sitting there fuming, I was facing a different snack stand, and this snack stand was having fresh pretzels delivered, and I was seeing people walk away with cheese! And I could smell it! (Watch out, crazy pregnant lady on the loose!)
So I'm sitting up straighter in my wheelchair, leaning toward the snack stand and inhaling big breaths of yummy fresh smelling pretzel air, and I'm contemplating either attempting to wheel myself over there or get up and limp over there to get myself a pretzel! Just when I had braced myself on the arms of my wheelchair to get up, David magically appeared and said amazing words delivered straight from the magical pregnant lady food heaven: "I'm taking you over there to that snack stand to get you a pretzel. I see cheese." You're my hero, husband, now walk faster, or they'll run out!
I have the best husband ever.
So I got my (very hot) pretzel accompanied by (burn your fingers hot) cheese, and I was happy.
David wheeled me over to Indiana Jones and we got super good seats in the handicapable section. I really enjoyed this show from beginning to end! (Last time we saw the show was on our honeymoon, and I was in it as one of the extras, so I missed the beginning because I was off getting my costume. )
After the show, it was time to head over to Epcot. I got a little irritated because we were the first ones in line at the bus stop, and we stood where you are supposed to stand, and some guy felt the need to cut in front of us and get on the bus before everyone had gotten off of the bus. And then he had the sheer audacity to get annoyed with his wife for getting in line behind all the people who were patiently waiting their turn! He actually snapped at her for wasting his time. Um...hello? Manners?
Anyway...
We got yet another wheelchair for me at Epcot, and I asked David if he was up for pushing me up the ramp to the Land Pavilion so that we could ride Soarin'. He was () so away we went.
FYI: The elevator to get downstairs in the Land Pavilion is a little frightening. It's a little jerky and shaky. We were riding with another couple with a son in a wheelchair, and they commented on it too! Yikes.
We got row one in the center ride vehicle! Awesome seats!
Telling tales on myself: right as the ride started, I suddenly desperately needed to use the restroom. So I didn't really enjoy the ride much.
After my emergency pit stop after the ride (), I asked David if he wanted to ride Living with the Land or Finding Nemo again, but he said no. We still had about an hour to kill before our 7:30 reservation...
Oh my gosh! My notes just stop there! And I was running low on data on my phone plan, so I couldn't Tweet constantly. Oh, no!!! *sigh* Let me try to remember what we did...
I believe we wandered about the shops a bit as we slowly made our way to Tutto Italia. I remember David and I discussing whether or not we should take the wheelchair inside and deciding against it because of how crowded we remembered the restaurant being before. So we parked it and I limped inside.
We were seated fairly quickly. I don't know what David had, but it was some sort of meatball that came with some sort of stuff I don't know what it's called, lol.
I had salmon, I think.
David had the cannoli for dessert. I had the tiramisu.
Oh my gosh I am so upset with myself for not finishing my notes! Erg!
After dinner we were supposed to go to DTD, but I am thinking that we headed back to the hotel instead.
I feel like a failure with my notes! Although, in my defense, I had gotten a couple of calls and text messages from my dad over the last few days warning me that my great-grandmother wasn't doing very well, and I got a bit distracted by that towards the very end of my trip.
Sounds like a good day! Your conversation with the little boy was so cute! First of all - how nice is it that he was concerned that you were sitting alone? Secondly, the Dad letting him come over to talk with you was pretty special too.
Glad you finally got your pretzel WITH cheese!
Dinner looked yummy - even without knowing exactly what things were!
Glad your nephew made it through the surgery. Pixies for his recovery.
That conversation with the little boy was the cutest thing EVER!!!! Aside from the pretzel episode, sounds like a much more enjoyable day in the wheelchair.
Glad Toby is doing well! Sending lots of long-term do-well Don't fret over the lack of notes. I had trouble taking any at all during this past trip as my family was along and I didn't want to neglect them. Then I was too tired at night to do much more than a brief outline. I'm so glad you got that pretzel with cheese. Stefanie once got a bit grumpy because we also were having the same trouble getting the pair. I had to laugh at your description of David's dinner at Tutto Italia.
