PTR....Universal Adventures of Dreams and an Expanding world part 2 - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Time is just flying by. 3 weeks from this afternoon we will be driving to my sisters house. Gosh...my list hasn't gotten any shorter either. If anything...longer.
I need to get all my rolled up change and cash it in at the bank. Then I need to gather all the bags of crushed cans I have been collecting for 1 1/2 years and cash those in.
Last time we got $110, though I think we might have less this time...but I think the price is higher by a tad. It wil lbe interesting to see how much we have. I told Claire that this was going to pay for BBB and then the left over is spending money for her.
I also need to really finish up the fish extender gifts and I have a few small things to buy for those yet...and a few small gifts to buy for people we will be meeting up with. I have 1 person done, well their child....but I still need to get for another family. And this ALL has to fit in my luggage. LOL!
I might venture out after I get Claire from school and pick up a few things. We are going to frankenmuth on Sat with my family, so thats a whole day shot.

I will probably start packing this weekend if all goes well.
I forgot that I had signed up for a free sample of Dove deoderant several weeks back. It arrived today. perfect timing. It will go right in the suitcase.
I also caved and bought another 8G Cf memory card for my camera. I needed to get a little something more to get free shipping on Amazon a week or so ago, so I just got another card. It will be nice not to owrry about having enough memory. I have a feeling this trip will have many more pictures with so much family along as wel las 2 new parties for me...and hopefully a glimpse at the new Fantasyland!
SCORE!!!! The other day I had to run some errands for Skip. While out I stopped at Walmart to pick up soemthing I had forgot last time in town. I of course made my usual turn aroun the clearance racks. I found 3 nightgowns for Claire for $3 each. Then I went to the shoe dept. I have been looking for water shoes for some time now and haven't found any, or they are too highly priced. But I was ready to just pay that price now. She has requested them for Castaway cay and I knew the beach was a bit stoeny when were there last, so it would be wise to get some for her again. I found a pair on clearance for $3...and they fit perfectly too. I also found a pair of sandals for $5 that will coming along with us as well. I love finding deals....especially when it's perfect timing. I also changed our car rentals from Hertz to Dollar today. We had mid sized SUV's and I have really been worrying about room for luggage. We don't travel ight in my family. There wil lbe several suitcases, some with strollers, etc. I have been looking and looking, but nothing could really beat the rate we got with the family discount with Hertz and to move up to a van was just so much more. Today Dollar was only $6 more to upgrade to a van from our current selection with Hertz. I quickly booked all of us without asking them. I had told them I would continue to keep looking just in case. A friend and I were talking about car rentals again today, and then I decided to look once again and was so happy I did. I now can pack and not worry how it will all fit. We have 16 people and 4 vans now. That should work.

I started packing today. Let's just say, not much got done. I swear every time I start something, something else comes up, or someone comes in the house.
I did have to make a trip into town today and deliver some stuff to my couson who is traveling with us. While in town, I took my rolled change to the bank. $133 there. Not bad.
After Claire got home from school we took the crushed cans that we have been collecting in and we got just under $75. That will cover the BBB appointment. I was actually hoping for a little more, but I can't complain. I know we had less cans than the last time we went.
So I got those things out of the way. I have a few more things to accomplish yet tonight, we'll see how that goes.
I am still working on packing. This seems to be so difficult this time around. I am not sure why I am making a bigger deal than it is. I am trying to pack in a system and that is causing brain overload. And then I pack things and forget if I actually packed it or not. :lmao:
I really don't know how people can pack the night before. I have been at it off and on for a few days and still have quite a bit to go. I think part of the problem is the piles of clothes I have and trying to sort through to what goes where.
I wil lbe doing a happy dance when I am done, thats for sure.
We create a list for packing for any trip and we retool it for each destination. So we get our list and check off each thing as it is packed. Helps quite a lot. We also bring the list with us so it helps when packing to go home, so we don't forget something.
Actually I am starting to come to the conclusion that packing the night before has its merits. I usually start about 4 to 6 weeks before I go gradually starling items from the kids as I wash and iron it and creating piles per person in my room. About 2 to 3 weeks before we go I get fed up waiting and then start packing the first cases. Then I think I am organized and stop until just before we go and like you said I can't remember if I have packed things or not so I end up feeling totally out of control. This year for our trip I had been commuting to Brisbane in Australia and only made it back home to France four days before we left. I finished work at 4pm on the Friday night and we have the cases (6 of them) packed and the car packed by 8pm. Felt a lot easier but I guess I was lucky the the kids hadn't,t worn there stuff they wanted to take which is the usual trick.
