As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OH MY!! That was a mini golf NIGHTMARE for sure! YIKES! So sorry. That course looked really hard. I'm horrible at minigolf and usually end up having to move my ball b/c everyone is tired of waiting on me. I'm glad you were able to stay rational and get everyone back on track. Sounds like after that your Epcot day was enjoyable. I LOVE Soarin. My favorite ride ever! I think it is so funny what you mentioned about Living w/ the Land ride. On previous trips, I never really enjoyed it, but the girls really wanted to go on it on our last trip, so we did. When I got off, I remember thinking how much I actually liked it and found it interesting. Perhaps it is a ride you just have to be in the mood for?? The M&G with Ploofy and Mickey sounded funny (well except for the ending hug) and I love the pics!
Can't wait to read about your Garden Grill experience. I remember your TR about it last year and wanted to try it this year, but was not able to get a reservation for our time. So I'm looking forward to reading more about it!
P.S. I enjoy that you keep your TR real and include the good and the bad. You make it so that I can relate.

Looks like you had a good time at Chef Mickey's. Sorry mini golf wasn't all that fun, but at least Epcot was enjoyable.
Thanks Kathy, we did enjoy CM and then Epcot the next day. Mini golf, not so much

Yes, we were going to GG for dinner - I'll post about that in a little while

It flows so smoothly.
Thanks - and with Lenny and Abby, it doesn't even seem to matter if it's hot or if they're tired. I swear sometimes they can get upset over the littlest things for NO reason at all. And aren't I the lucky one to be the only sane one . And thanks - I'm glad you enjoy how I write my TR's.

Thanks - I'll be doing my next installment today so you can read about the GG. We ate there last year too so you could always read that as well. IMO it would be great if they started doing breakfast there but sadly all they offer is dinner.

Thanks Laurie. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one not thrilled with the new Imagination ride - the old one IMO really epitomized imagination, the new one a lack of it.

So glad you had another wonderful day, and that you ended up back at the resort so that you were able to realize your meal time was different than you thought, and I loved the towel animals and stuffed animals placed in the windows. My dd's LOVE it when mousekeeping does little touches like this! It was nice that the time change allowed for you all to take a swim before dinner to unwind. My dd's did this everyday on our last trip and we all really enjoyed the little break for dinner. I'm also glad you had a great experience at CM (aside from your server having no personality). The server we had on our last trip was the same, except she delivered HORRIBLE service too. We got drink refills once and my youngest dd even held up her glass an called really loud (which really is unlike her, but she was so thirsty) "You who...and whatever her name was (can't remember)". She stood around talking to another CM the entire time. We finally got the refill when we were about to leave. It was so unlike our previous visits. The servers really can make all the difference. So I'm glad at least yours filled up your drinks!
Well, as I know from experience with Lenny, guys like to deny things, even when it's plain as the nose on their faces. Maybe next time he goes to the eye doctor, he should ask.
I was glad too that we were able to go back to the resort - it was nice to have a little bit of down time and we too enjoy all the towel animals when they're left for us. I usually snap the picture but then leave them behind either for the next people or for the Mousekeepers to take apart and wash and reuse. I'm surprised by your server - I don't think I've ever had one that bad but you're right, a server can make or break a meal
Hi Darlene - I'm catching up from the weekend but wanted to ask you a quick question - does the press penny still cost 50 cents or has it gone up. I was in Baltimore this weekend and the pressed pennies there were $1.00 and thought WDW might be that too. Thanks

Thanks - mini golf was a nightmare but I didn't really get anyone back on track. If I had, we would have continued and done all the holes instead of Lenny walking off and Abby just wanting to get to the last hole. We did enjoy the day but like I said somewhere, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I have in the past. Living with the Land I think is an in the mood type of ride but I think it depends upon how much you see too. If I want to see nothing but plants, I can stay outside for that but this year there were a lot of fruits and veggies to see and I think that's what makes it interesting - how much is growing on the plants. The M&G was fun - up until the end and you'll have to stay tuned for dinner. I'm glad you like my TR and can relate. I've BTDT reading other ones - someone will type something and I can totally relate to what happened so while part of me hates putting in the bad parts, it does ultimately affect what we do and how we do it.

What was up with Ploofy hugging you so tight? That was weird!
Thanks April. I don't know about Lenny and Abby but I recovered it the best I could. I went through the motions and did enjoy what I could but the morning was just there all day long, KWIM? I don't know what was up with Ploofy but I can tell you I didn't like it.

It was rough and then it did smooth out. I just wish it didn't happen like that.

Men. Can't live 'em, can't get 'em to stay back at the hotel. He seems to have perked up quite a bit at Epcot, though. It's tough to predict, though, isn't it?
Hoping the line wasn’t long, we opted to take this time to check out the Disney Visa M&G.
I didn't know Kodak pulled their sponsorship - where have I been?
Sorry mini golf didn't turn out as planned.
Where/what is the Disney Visa M&G, I've read a little about it as I'm a card holder. Is it the Character spot - do you make a reservation for it, is it only special dates/times?
Thanks for the Chef Mickey's update. We have an ADR for 7:15pm and was wondering how long the meal may last. I'm trying to bump it up to 6:30 but not having any luck with it.
