We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you Cam. I think the only part of Hershey Park I'm dissappointed about is us not seeing The Imagination Movers. Since it is so close, we can go any time we want to. When Erick informed me they need him to work(he's one of the handful employees in his department with a Forklift License), so I understand they need him there. I did also tell him that the money we probably would have been spent at the arcade in the park would probably make better money saved for Disney(which he wholehardetly agreed with me on).
I had to share more excitement! We may have a new Passporter Soon!
I thought I should share some of my excitement with you all from yesterday, my roommate from college/BFF Courtney said she will be possibly be joining the Passporter Community! She, her DH Paul, her DSil, & DNiece are actually traveling to WDW in August (I am a tad bit upset I didn't know this beforehand, as Courtney & I haven't seen eachother in a few years and well, it would have been nice to see eachother in Disney, and she even agrees with me). I know they are also staying at ASMv during their trip, and I had asked her if they were using any of the Dining Plans, if so which one. They are on the QSDDP, which she isn't thrilled about since Paul picked it out since it was the least expensive option, however she thought the TS Meals if they upgraded (or tried for Free Dining for their trip) to DDP would throw her off her Diet. I told her she should call Disney and see what kind of arrangements if they did do any TS Meals and talk to the Chefs or even call the Restaurants directly to talk to them to help her stick with her Diet. I know she has been working very hard for as long as she and I have known eachother on losing weight, and has made tremendous strides, and she knows I try to help motivate her in any way possible, so at least she does know that if Disney can help accomodate those with Food Allergies as well as other Special Dietary Needs, they should be able to help her suggest or make something for her that is on the more healthy side. I did also let her know about allears.net to check out the menus, and that each individual park has a Fresh Fruit Stand also with veggies, which for her would be a great use of her snack credits, for something that she won't feel so guilty about.
I did recommend she check out Passporter and look under the Feasting & Snacking Section and told her everyone on here is a huge asset full of information that would be able to help her. She was so glad I told her too, as I'm sure it will alleviate her anxiety with the eateries at WDW. Courtney & I talk quite frequently on the phone, so hopefully I'll know soon when she joins us all on here. I did also inform her she should get a copy of Passporter as well which will help her out too(if only Skyler didn't destroy my 2009 copy or else I could have sent her that one). I know out of her group, she's the only one familliar with WDW, as Paul has only been once a few years ago, and her DSil & DNiece are both Disney Newbies.
Erick was actually excited that I could talk Disney with Courtney and that everyone on here has helped me so much to be able to help her with some of her Disney Planning (even if it is with making suggestions that can help her with dining). Thank you everyone, your advice and TRs truely help those of us who are still slightely clueless with Disney (such as myself) who haven't been in qite some time or a few years.
The more the merrier is what I always say! I know she'll feel extremely welcomed around here. I've told a couple of my friends about this site as well, but I haven't seen them around yet, so who knows what they've been doing.
Sorry about Hershey. There's always another time, and just think, you can save that money for your upcoming Disney trip!
Oh my!!! I totally owe you a PM!! Sorry! Things have been a bit crazy for me as of late and have not been on the computer too much. In-laws were in from Ireland and then I had jury duty!
I'm finally getting myself back to normal! I'll write you this weekend
We stayed at the Disney Village Resort thingy too! It was '97 for us though, it was nice, right? It just seemed kind of out of the way...
Ok, I just wanted to check in, I just got caught up with your PTR and now it's back to work for me!

Thank you so much Melissa. I know she will feel welcome here which is why this was the first place I suggested for her to come an get great advice and also hopefully make some Passporter Friends by her in NJ(which means I will have to travel to NJ to see her and try to arrange a
PPer Meet!
I know she feels overwhelmed with planning and with her Diet she thinks it will be too tempting to not stick with it while at Disney. I knowshe can stick to it and have faith in her. Oh yeah by the way her 1st Roommate(right before she and I became Roomies for a whole year) works at one of the snack carts in DHS, so I know Courtney wants to try to avoid her(not to be mean, just bad blood between them).
I hope your friends join soon. I totally agree the more the merrier.

Thank you Lori, glad to see you again! I hope your visit with your DInlaws went well. They sounded like a little much in your Wedding TR. Hopefully your's aren't nearly as bad as my dad ans stepmom are to Erick(another time another story about them).
Jury Duty? Sorry to hear you had to do that. Not fun. How awesome you also
stayed at The Disney Village. I remember it being really nice and loved the loft. Looking foward to catching up with you soon.
Cam, you and Stefanie aren't the only ones whom went for for Haircuts today, Skyler did too. His hair should grow out long enough for his next hair cut in a few months at The Harmony Barber Shop! His hair is so short now but he looks like a little boy again. His hair was practically as long as it was in his 1st Professional Pictures I had taken of him at 9 months old (some of my favorites). He did cry some but not asmuch as he normally does and he was a tad less squirmy (he won't sit on the booster seat, but does better sitting in my lap). We did search for a bathing suit for me while we were out and I struck a bargain at Old Navy. I saw a few I liked in Sears which I liked their tankinis that were on sale for $18 per piece, but found a Tankini I loved in Old Navy which was $10 per piece and a one piece on sale for $19. I found more flip flops(stocked up and bought 4 pair for $10). Thry even had some comfy gauze pants to wear over the bathing suits knocked down for $12 each. The One Piece Bathingsuit is a Halter style in fuscha pink and the tankini is also halter top in turquoise and navy blue and striped. I found another Rash Guard for Skyler to go withhis Pooh & Tigger board shorts. He already has a matching Mickey Rash Guard & Board Shorts that still fit him. At least now I'm covered with 2 bathing suits for Skyler's Swim Lessons(since I have to go in the water with him) and for our trip.
I also found while we were out Erick's Anniversary Gift. He is probably thr most difficult person to shop for. Since last year I bought him an etched Brandy Decanter, this year I bought him 4 glasses with his iinnitials etched in them. Since he is sending me on the trip, he knows he doesn't have to get me anything, nor am I expecting it. He did inform me last year as he always wanted a Decanter an glasses to go with it, so that was what I decided on for him.
Skyler had a fun Date with me, so that should make up for us not going to Hershey Park. We had a couple of reward certificates to Chuck E Cheese for free tokens for him being good during his last Check Up at the Doctor's and his last visit to the Dentist, so we used those to let him ride the rides in the Toddler Play Area which we had to ourselves. He truely loves those rides and has so much fun(it's my once in a while treat to him).
I think it has to be a bit scary for kids to have someone come at their head with scissors. Stefanie is finally getting where she'll sit still for her cut without my coaching her.
Sounds like you got some great deals at Old Navy! this store!
Thank you so much Cam. I agree with the feae of kids and scissors at their heads(which are usually only used for his bangs). I think the clippers tickle him too. That's good Stefanie doesn't need to take a cue for her's.
Thank you, I found a lot of great stuff in Old Navy. I truely love their clothes and fit me well.
Although today Skyler & I didn't go to Hershey Park, today is a day of celebration for us. Today is Erick's Parents' 29 Year Wedding Anniversary & Skyler & I got to witness my Beloved Chicago Blackhawks make it to the Stanley Cup Finals! We walked through Dicks Sporting Goods after we picked up Erick's Anniversary Gift and it was in the 3rd Period. I felt so bad for all thr Staff & fellow shoppers listen to my over excitement as I saw them score their 3rd and 4th goals. Erick & I rarely drink, and Erick doesn't drink on work nights, but since we still have a few bottles of beer at home, I told him we not only had to toast to his parents' anniversary when he gets home from work, but we needed to celebrate The Blackhawks playing for The Stanley Cup. I knowhe will be more happy if it's the Flyers against the Blackhawks(Erick is a Blackhawks Fan anyway). My mom doesn't normally watch sports but still loves her Blackhawks too, well she got a text message from me telling her she might wabt to plan on watching this year since our team is playing for it. Had the Boston Bruins made it Instead, I would still be a very happy girl!
We finally got our mousekeeping, meal tip envelopes, Bellhop Tip Envelopes, and our DME Envelopes made. My computer really wanted to distort some of the ones I tried making on the computer or pre-designed ones I found, so I wrote them by hand and put stickers on them. I had plenty of Disney Stickers on hand that it was fun, an actually I think it will be a nice touch to te CMs we hand them to being handwritten. I made them while I was having trouble sleeping last night, but at least it was a fun project to work on (and a great use of time when I still had too much energy in me to sleep).
