The This TR Won’t Take Me a Year to Finish (aka Disney with Extended Family) Trip Report - UPDATED 5/22 w/ AK and Tusker House - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pics Liz!
I didn't even notice anything on Jared. I still can't see it, I thought he just has some great cheekbones! He shoouldn't worry about it. They are both adorable.
Great update! I know my mom is looking forward to It's a Small World. Me not so much (don't care for the unbelievably catchy tune getting stuck in my head for the day)
What great pics, Liz! I love how you're holding the Passporter, while hubby is holding you! Also, both of your boys are downright handsome. Tell them I said so!!!
Yay, your TR is back on!! Great updates!! The PP pictures are awesome!
Thanks Mayra. Another update coming right up.

Thanks. Jared's scar has gotten much better. I always tell him that he is perfect and that no one can even tell. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Heh, heh. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I like It's a Small World. Maybe it's because that's where DH proposed in 1997.

Thanks. Did you see the Passporter? I don't think I left in the room once. I will tell my boys that you think they are handsome. They will get a kick out of it.
After Fantasyland, we decided to go on Haunted Mansion. Now, I'm not sure why, but Jared would not go on it. This is the same kid who loved HM last year, his favorite ride is TOT, followed by RNRC. Anyway, I would nevre force him to ride anything he doesn't want to, so I decided to sit this one out with him. We just sat and relaxed on a bench while Aidan, Mom, and William went on HM.
Here are some pictures we took while we waited for the others.

Soon, the rest of the gang joined us. Aidan declared HM his favorite ride and couldn't wait to go back on. The boy is not afraid of anything. He loves ghosts, witches, and spooky things. The complete opposite of his brother.
We decided I would go ahead and grab us some fastpasses for BTMRR while everyone else walked slowly (and I do mean slowly) toward Adventureland.
Fastpasses in hand, we had some time before our appointment still, and decided to watch Captain Jack's Pirate Tutorial.
Once we found a spot, I decided this would be a great time to get my first ever Dole Whip.
I headed over to the stand (is it Aloha Isle?) and the man had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a Dole Whip Float. I had to basically explain it to him. I started to wonder if maybe I wasn't at the right place, but I was.
Anyway, two floats in hand, (only Will and I wanted one), and I head back to the Pirate Tutorial.
By the time I got there, the Dole Whip was almost completely melted (yes, it was that hot).
I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but I did not care for it at all. (Please don't hate me). Then again, I am not really a fan of pineapple and I think the pineapple juice in it was just way too much.
I will give it another chance on our upcoming trip, but will get just the icecream. Dh didn't really like it much either and he likes everything. What can I say? We are a weird family.
Sorry I didn't post a picture of the float. I know I have one, but I don't know where it is.
Now back to the tutorial. We all really liked the show (except for Mom, you will see this is a running theme for her, lol.) She just didn't get it.
The other Pirate (okay, I am totally blanking out on his name) not Jack Sparrow, the other main guy, kept winking at me and coming over to me. It was so funny. The boys really got a kick out of it.
At the end, Aidan was called up on stage with some other children. It was so cute because he had no idea what was going on and he looked so tiny and cute up there.
After the show, it was time to check in for our 1pm appointment at Pirate's League.
We checked in at Pirate's League and the boys had to decide what makeup they wanted. I don't really remember what it was called, but they both picked the same look.
After that, we were led into the lobby, where the adventure began. The boys had to see what their new pirate names would be.
Jared was now Francis Chipcutter.
Aidan was Bartholomew Barrelwalker. Aidan was really confused. He thought this was really his new name and that he would really be a pirate. It was so cute.
Once they had their new names, we were all led into the next room where they would be transformed into pirates. I just want to say how cool this place was. They thought of every little detail and all the CM's here were in perfect character.
I was so upset because my camera battery died right about now. I couldn't believe I didn't charge it. Thankfully, Mom let me use her camera and between the two of us we got quite a few pictures. DH had the video cam as well. (Lesson learned: I am never traveling with only one battery again).
The boys were led to their seats which unfortunately were across the room for each other (we had to all take turns running back and forth between the two).
Some of the details in this room.
Jared getting ready for his transformation (they will kill me if I call it a makeover, lol.)

When the makeup part was over, the boys each had to take a "Pirate Oath". I really wish I could remember what was said, but I remember it was very long and very funny. Aidan had a really hard time repeating everything the man told him to repeat. It was so funny.
The boys were now ready to enter the secret room. We all had to take an oath before we went in there that we wouldn't tell anyone about this room. I will just show you the Photopass pictures that they took.
