Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great Facts! Less than 7 days to go! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your packing! On our last trip, I had a suitcase for Sam (all of his stuff, clothes, bed linens, bottles, stroller cover etc), suitcase for me and dh, large duffle with toiletry bag and a few other items and a spare duffle inside that. The two duffle bags double for souvenier/purchase luggage on the way home! We have actually shipped stuff home in the past, especially breakables. When we were down for our honeymoon, we actually drove out to the fedex store, bought a box and shipped stuff home that way, it was cheaper than Disney.

Yesterday DD and I went to the mall to get her "prepped" for graduation today. We HAD to go in the Disney Store! We bought some UP luggage tags since we needed two more than what we got from Disney. They are sooo cute. I really wanted some Lightnin McQueen or Mater tags but they didn't have any. Also got DD a Winnie the Pooh bear in a cap and gown outfit.
I can't believe we leave this thurs to head to WDW and by 3pm Friday WE WILL BE THERE!!! It has been 9 years since DL and 12 since WDW.
No, I'm not excited at all!!
I'm glad you're joining in! Wow! 3 more days!! I'll try and remember to send you the other days countdowns - let me know when you need them.

Me too! Although I've never had a full day to do stuff before going on vacation so I'll probably be going crazy Saturday.

I'm thinking we may not have room for too many souvies that we'll actually be taking with us. I did 'weigh' the suit case yesterday - meaning I stood on the scale and weighed myself then held the suitcase and weighed me with the suitcase. I think we're at about 35 pounds, so I hope the last few things I need to throw in aren't 15 pounds!!

How in the world did you pack for 3 and have a suitcase that only weighs 35 pounds!!! I am amazed! You must really narrow down the clothing, I always take things out and then end up putting more in! What about your toiletries, do they go in the suitcase too?

Ok, so since some are curious as to how I packed for 3 people in one suitcase, I'll dedicate this post to packing. I have a pretty extensive packing list in excel and almost everything is finally crossed off the list.
So here goes: Inside the suitcase:
My clothes – 4 pairs of shorts, 8 tops (tees, tanks), 8 pairs of undies, pj’s
Mike’s clothes – 3 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of capris (he think he’s Eurpoean), 8 pairs of boxers, 3 pairs of socks
Dylan’s clothes – 10 t-shirts
Toiletry case – travel size: deodorant for me, hairspray, face washcloths (7), toothpaste & toothbrushes, pill case for my meds, shave gel for Mike, contact lens solution, hair gel, air freshener, 2 loofahs, face moisturizer, baby lotion & baby wash, childern’s ibrouprofen (sp?) (I did not pack shampoo/shower gel this time as I felt we could just use what’s there.)
Wipes (not a full refill package – probably about 1/5 of a refill)
Make-up
3 glow in the dark sticks
Disposable bibs
Night light
Spray sunscreen
Travel laundry detergent
Snacks – small packs of lorna doones, chocolate teddy grahams, animal crackers, craisins, kool-aid packets
Collapsible Rubbermaid container
Swim diapers
Still needs to go in the suitcase:
Diapers, razors, deodorant for Mike, flat iron, make-up brushes, Mike’s t-shirts, Dylan’s shorts, Pack n play sheet for Dylan, Sleep Sheep (basically a noise maker) – this may or may not get packed, Extra bra or 2 for me, 2-3 pairs of shoes – 1 extra for Mike & myself, 1 or 2 for Dylan (all these will be crocs so they’ll be light), comb, aftershave, cologne/perfume (this is a maybe), Goodnight Moon book (we read this to Dylan every night before bed and I’d like to keep something normal)
In Dylan’s carry-on suitcase:
Life jacket, Mike’s swim trunks, 2 suits for me, swim trunks & rash guard (shirt) for Dylan, 2 pool toys (ball & a Mickey), clip on fan (for stroller), stroller rain shield, tie on shade for stroller, water bottle cooler, backpack harness (for Dylan to wear when he wants to walk), and a couple swim diapers
Carry-on (which is the bog DVC bag we got when we joined):
Stroller tote which includes: table toppers, a few disposable bibs, first aid kit stuff, poncho, Kleenex, ear plugs, gum, clickable sharpies
The ziplock bag with all the liquids: contact lens drops, travel sunscreen, blister block, more first aid items, bubbles, etc. etc.
Disposable sippy cups
Some glow in the dark bracelets
A fanny pack which will have the camera & camcorder in it plus my id, credit cards, etc.
I’ll need to put all my insulin & pump supplies in the carry on (this is the one thing I always have with me – never put it in checked luggage)
Passporter Deluxe – which will have all travel documents
Will need to add all the chargers too – cell phone, camera, & camcorder
I also packed the backpack that came with Dylan’s luggage with the items to keep him busy plus some snacks for all of us
Mike will be brining his ipod too.
I think that’s about it. And when it comes down to it I may not be under that 50 pound limit and then I’ll have to repack everything in 2 suitcases. Oh well! We’ll see what happens.
That is some list!! Man, you have thought of everything! the tie on stroller sunshade that you mention, is that a shade extender? I have a sun shade that clips on to the stroller shade to extend it, but it comes down in front of the child, which wasn't an issue when Sam was smaller and leaned back, but now that he sits straight up, it would be right in his face.

I have seen that shade on onestepahead. So it shades their body pretty well, right? I have the one that clips onto the stroller shade and pulls down right in front of the child, its mesh so they can see through it, but I just know with Sam sitting straight up and it being right there in his face, he will probably pull on it or rip it off! I am going to add the rayshade to my list! We do have the rain cover which came in handy in HS last Dec. When we came out of Great Movie Ride, it had started pouring and the wind was blowing so hard that umbrellas would not work. Luckily we had the stroller parked in a nice dry spot, we were able to get over to it and put the rain cover on, get Sam nice and cozy inside and put on our ponchos. I felt so bad for some of the other parents whose strollers were absolutely soaked and they were putting their kids in them so they could just make a run for it. That rain cover was well worth the money even if we only used it once!! My friend who was down at the same time, hit the same storm and had forgotten her cover at the room. Needless to say, her stroller ended up soaked and had to dry out in the room over night!!
