As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have now read your post from beginning to end and truly enjoy every entry.
I worked as an international programs rep in EPCOT in 1995, and today my cousin is on the College Program working from January - May 2009. I feel old when I am trying to give her advice, but by reading your post I can see that things are pretty much the same as 14 years ago. Congratulations on living your dream! I am sure Disney will have a permanent place for you even after College Program!
thank you so much for keeping us all up to date!!!
I've been gone way too long from these boards, but I did want to say congratulations to you for pursuing your dream and accomplishing what you have! Enjoy your time as a CP. I hope the rough times are short-lived and the magic shines all the way through your CP time.

Yesterday and today were my days off. Yesterday was spent doing the mundane things of everyday life, grocery shopping, settling older DDs' stuff into the townhouse, making dinner, y'know, nothing fun.
Today was FUN day! I took younger DDs to AK this morning. 10yo wants to be an animal rescuer when she grows up, so I took her to Rafiki's Planet Watch first thing to see if there was a vet procedure and let her visit with some of the keepers. 12yo went off to ride Everest and Dinosaur. We watched an American Kestrel (bird) get his routine exam which was very interesting. The keeper could tell that 10yo was totally into it, so she brought him really close to her through the window to watch him wake up, which was cool. DD was all decked out in her safari vest with her DWCF (Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund) pins, so she had the part down.
We met up w/ 12yo and I introduced them to some of my "cousins" in Dinoland. They met one of my managers and my favorite CM (I call her my "Dinorama Mama" ) They played 2 of the Dinorama games and each won a nice dinosaur and a frog stuffed animal, not bad for $10 worth of tickets! After Dinoland, they rode Everest and we went on Safari, then decided to hop over to Epcot.
I don't know what it is with me and Epcot, but I break it. In August, the power went out completely and all the rides had to come back online, so I missed them. Today, SE and Test Track both were down when we got there! We did at least get on Soarin', Living with the Land (1st time since they took the CMs off the boats, it was still nice), Journey into the Imagination (yawn, but DDs like it), and Maelstrom. We did the KP attraction for Japan and it was kinda fun, then went to Rose and Crown for dinner. I've eaten there once on a solo trip and was not impressed, but wanted to give it a second chance and DDs agreed. Sorry, but it's on our "never again" list. We couldn't get refills for ANYTHING and it took forever for our food to arrive. I had fish & chips and they were soggy and bland and looked like they'd been sunning under a heat lamp for awhile and given the service, probably had been. No amount of malt vinegar helped. 12yo had the lamb dish and said it was OK, but nothing special. Also, it was VERY cold today, so they had the patio area enclosed and space heaters on the ceiling turned on. They sat us at one of the tables and we were rotisserrie chickens in 5 minutes, so I had to ask to be moved (10yo was in tears).
On the way out, we stopped in SE and it was functional again, so we did get to ride that. We stopped in the resort gift shop for some ice cream for dessert in our room b/c LOST is on tonight! DDs picked up a couple of DVDs, so they are in the other room while I camp out in here, waiting to dive back into the new season.
It's back to the cheese wheel tomorrow for this mouseketeer, but it's only a 6 hour day and I'll be stocking again, so that's fun. Oh, and to answer the question, I walk around to the various carts to see what they need, then I bring it out to them. Pins is the hardest just b/c of the nature of the beast. I also offer to let them run to the restroom if they need to and just kind of make sure things are where they need to be. I like stocking a lot!

Sorry R & C wasn't up to your expectations. It's not my favorite place after eating there twice. It sounds like you are finding your groove as far as work, home, and fun.

R&C experience kinda puts a bit of a damper on things. Glad you got to do the other things that made up for it. Sounds like you've got the stocking thing down pat and giving the folks a chance to make a comfort station break is really thoughtful. That is the kind of stuff that gets back to management and is remembered in evaluations as "going the extra mile". Hope this works out for you.
Glad you had a couple of enjoyable days off. And I agree with the Rose and Crown. The service was horrible when we ate there, and the food wasn not that great. The only good part was the dessert. Can't wait to look you up when I am down there in a few days.
